Reading on the MSSA: it’s name travels from collection of solidarity to collection of resistance, and back again
happy birthday, gilbert baker. (june 2, 1951 — march 31, 2017)
We wait all year for this time of year is what he said and it’s kind of true. There were a handful of moments recently where I thought it really doesn’t get better… stretching on the carpet unselfconsciously as the gang worked through the grant app together, the sunlit garden on the roof with its huge bees - treading lightly in place in the air before whirring off together in rapid complex loops. Catching up on the clock with the sun in our faces. Relax your eyes and you’ll see everything is moving in the breeze all the time, if you focus you see it where you look, if you don’t you see it all at once
Only three more days at the beautiful catsit house
Thinking about when Alex and Jess and Cloud came over and when I got back biking with the pizza they’d done all my dishes and made my freaking bed … -.-💙
I love being in artists studios and seeing the funnily consistent little lists they all keep tacked up onto walls like
“ACTION CAN PRODUCE MEANING JUST AS MUCH AS MEANING CAN PRODUCE ACTION”
or
“1. ARRIVE AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE 2. ONE HOUR READING 3. PLAN DAY 4. BEGIN”
In my hometown and thought “I don’t recognize this place but I love it, again & again”
ran into a fling from two summers ago they told me they still think about the music I sent them told us hard things about their life I touched their face and hands, I felt a tenderness I wasn’t expecting. walked back to J’s, the bunny was awake and hyper we fed her and pet her soft back, passed out together for a bit leaning on his shoulder talking about a new possible crush and became like a lily pad or a seed pod calm flat expansive before making my way home after 3am 🪷
My talented mama
So much, bittersweet, motivated to invest in imperfect images and writing
Riding over two bridges on my way home, either way I’m crossing the water to come home, redacted after more than 8 months and tearing up, eating dill in the morning bc it reminds me of nice things, this horrible diagnosis arriving senselessly, finishing Mekas—-as he says,
“I have never under-
stood life…”
Monocular lens versus binocular vision, I’m impressed at this book tbh, David Hockney, clearly his version of Ways of Seeing. But amazing when any book (any… thing) can lead a horse to water, actually shift perception
The side of my hip was so tight the massage therapist said at first she wasn’t sure when she was touching bone…!
May 1st full moon last night blood and salt water, started the morning with a bath and meditated for the first time in a long time. Was nearly immediately delivered a coherent inner monologue working out my issue with something said to me last week. It amazes me how quickly it helps
