current project - Bandages
A cast of a fellow students face i made using modrock, then plaster poured into the mould. Hear i am looking at physical wounds and starting to put on some special effects wax to produce cuts and scars on the face. However i have now started to think about mental wounds looking into mental health ect.

Rape awareness pathway - 3D outcome the box
This was my final outcome for the ‘in the news’ project. I wanted to keep along the theme of using rape statistics, so i thought about different ways i could present them and had the idea of recording people reading them out. I then used this small box for the ipod to be displayed in. I chose to play them from an ipod and it is more personal and intimate than outloud with speakers. The box is only just big enough for one person to squeeze up into. I wanted them to feel, isolated even in a crowded area ( the box was placed at the bottom of a main stair case) whilst trapped in this box they are then forced to listen to the statistics with no distractions, made to face the reality of the situation.
Here in this image a student is in the box, having to curl up in to a fetal type position, relating to the feelings of vulnerability and fear. The position is very uncomfortable and awkward to get into especially in front of others on a busy staircase. Making the whole situation uncomfortable makes in more memorable and therefore people will remember the statistics more.

The fetal position is a powerful pose, emulating feelings of fear, protection and vulnerability. All these feelings can be associated with being attacked/raped.
The colour blue is often used to represent sadness or coldness, in this painting i wanted to get across the feeling of emptiness.

Second pathway project - Awareness of rape
This is 2 out of 3 photographs i used as my final 2D outcomes for this project. Writing rape statistics onto everyday objects to really grab the audiences attention. Many people shy away from talking about rape as it’s an uncomfortable topic. Wanting to not only make people aware of these unsettling statistics, the act of writing them on everyday objects to me, is trying to get the idea across that it should be something that’s spoken about and not hidden.
In this photograph, a statistic is written across a coffee cup another everyday object. The coffee cup however is also one that is thrown away, which then brings up many other ideas about how rape is perceived and the victims.

In this photograph of the cigarette packet, there was an idea about making the statistics as well known about as the negative effects of smoking we all know about.
Life drawing - Focusing on Daves facial features using pencil.
Focusing primarily on the face enabled me to get more accuracy making it look more like Dave. Adding in shapes of where the light hits his face and the shapes of shadows down his neck.
Ceramics workshop - Final teapot piece
Made by hand and with a green paint finish. The spout is functional and the lid is removable.
Textiles workshop - Disperse dyes
After using a sewing machine free hand to stitch my own portrait, we then made photocopies, negative and positive images, using the disperse dyes i created interesting outcomes like this one. over lapping a negative and positive.
Ceramics workshop - practicing using the wheel
Using the the wheel I created this pot which is shall and wide like an ashtray, i then varnished the inside and added glass pieces before being fired. Red oranges and yellow coloured glass used like fire to suggest the hot embers of a cigarette.
Photography workshop - using the mini studio set up and lighting
Shooting objects found around the house I used this interesting maple syrup bottle. We were taught different lighting techniques and different set ups. This is using the mini studio table with a soft light from directly behind.

In a pose laying down, her head closest to me. Had to have a few tried at getting the perspective correct on the head, making it big enough compared to the legs which were furthest away from me.

2D response for artifact project
An acrylic screen print onto linen of 3 shabti statues with the pyramids in the background, painted with ink and the pyramids stitched into by hand representing the great efforts put into ctreating the pyramids themselves. finished with a border of the text 'I am here and i will come wherever you bid me' repeated over and over representing the amount of statues each pharoa would have had
