Evaluation
This assessment seemed a great deal harder than it was, the genre was daunting but the most challenging part for me was starting and to stop deleting hundreds of intros in anger. Once I started playing with the midi keyboard in combination with the nnxt I found that I could play any instrument I wanted on this wee keyboard and I was no longer bound to the constant shuffling of the re-drum and the blind knob turning of the Thor. Once I was armed with my midi keyboard I could use my musical knowledge of chords and scales to play instruments I would not usually be able use. I used two chords to make my first chop and from there I was off, I made a bass line with a scale the chords are both linked to. For fun I made a small flute solo because i enjoyed making music with new instruments. Then came the structuring process, by that stage i had found out that we were designing our own videos for the song so i chopped the song up in a way that would make it enjoyable for me to create a video.

In this standard we had to make an iteration for our application for the school. We were to use Processing to create the iteration which meant that I had much learning to do because i had no prior coding experience at all.
90349 started off with coding lessons, i learnt the basics line drawing lines and circles, simple mouse pressed functions and mouse axis functions and the importing of images.I wanted to really push myself because I was excited about having a new field in which to be creative, this meant i delved into 3d. I learnt how to create 3d forms through many hours spent at home tinkering, eventually i had my first iteration; The Rolling Ball. Because of all my tinkering i had the ball doing silly things like changing colour as it rolled, the big problem with the ball is that the P3D framework i was using wasn't powerful enough.I decided to make an eyeball instead and i have found a way to have smooth(); in the code without the whole thing lagging using a framework called OPENGL. This also mean i can have a more detailed circle (more polygons). I decided to make the iBall because the ball wasn't very relevant to the school. The iBall was the first time i experimented with the float function, i used it to make the sphere fade to white, from blue, when you first open it which gave it a nice loading effect.
The iteration was still very simple because didn't have an image of an eye wrapped around the sphere so it didn't look like an eye, yet. I was informed that an image would later be wrapped around the sphere with c code, by Melby. Throughout the project we were encouraged to look at www.openprocessing.org/ for ideas, i learnt many processing commands from there, on the website there was a simulation of the moon orbiting the earth. This iteration had the code i needed to wrap an image around a sphere, the coding in this iteration was far too complex for me so i had great trouble finding the code i needed but after much trial i had the gem i needed (i have posted the errors i encountered during the trials).
I wrote code for the eye to rotate using radians and the pmouse function so the last hurdle was getting the image of the eye prefect. I had been using a low quality screenshot so i made an eye on photo shop, the eye needed to be in an ellipse shape because the image wrapping warped the the eye, the ellipse counters the warping to make a circle.
I wanted to add more to the iteration (like a cross section view of the eye) but i don't have the skills. Perhaps one day i will be able to upgrade my iteration but i am happy with what i achieved and that i pushed myself into tackling 3d coding.

This standard was to create a front page for the application the class has been developing. The criteria was quite free which meant I could use resources available to me that i didn't previously believe would be of use in the DTI standards.
The requirements were that it had to be in the dimensions of the iPad and have links to the different parts of the application.
GIMP
We started this standard right as photoshop stopped working on my computer so I had to get over this hurdle before i could begin designing. A student in the class was using a program called GIMP because they were more familiar with it, the program is less sophisticated than photoshop but it would do the job i needed. It is free and downloadable from moodle so this made it the most convenient option.
IPad Dimensions
The way we made the designs the right dimensions it importing an image of an iPad into GIMP and designing within it. Once i had set up the background of my design i cropped out the iPad.
The image
I had spent a significant portion of the year designing visuals for wellington high school in my art class, this meant i already had a stockpile of resources to put to use in the development of my front page design. The most part of the school is a piece of modernist architecture which is unusual for a school, it shows the modern thinking of the school from the very beginnings. I scoured my image bank of historical photos for one of the M and S block in the school when they were first made. I found a nice sepia photo, that even has a date on it, of these blocks and one of the best things about this photo was that it had uncrowded areas to the image in which i could create the necessary buttons.
The Buttons
I have an iPod touch and spend have spent many frustrating minutes trying to press links far smaller than my finger, the problem with these links is that only touching the letters activates the link. I wanted to create an ergonomic button where the area around the letters are part of the link, this means the button is easy to press.
The button colour was a process in it's self, they needed to stand out but no be harsh and unattractive. My first requirement was that i didn't want is within the sepia tone range but it had to be quite a gentle colour, after much trial i paused to look about and, as usual, my DTI tumblr blog was open on my computer. The tumblr blue was almost perfect, i made it a little paler and used it in my final design.
The font is a GIMP circus like font, i chose it because it has gaps in it where the background colours can come through.
Problems Encountered
The only problem was that photoshop didn't work on the computer, fortunately GIMP is an intuitive program to use so i had no problems designing with it.

Melby has designed the skins function so that you swipe along the screen to change skins, we no longer need a skins button so i have deleted it
