āMindful Educationā (Season 4, Episode 4) just threw me into flashbacks and caused major crying to the point of feeling sick. I suppose that says something. :(
im so exhausted TxT thats the wost part of breakdowns i think. not how much it sucks when you're crying/shaking/puking during the thing - but the pain, fatigue, and just general 'ass kicked' malaise that hits you physically and mentally after. I can barely move, my BONES ache, and I feel like Im going to pass out at any given time despite having slept last night.
Julie DāAubigny was a 17th-century bisexual French opera singer and fencing master who killed or wounded at least ten men in life-or-death duels, performed nightly shows on the biggest and most highly-respected opera stage in the world, and once took the Holy Orders just so that she could sneak into a convent and shag a nun.
(via Feminism)
bisexual opera singer who killed ten men and snuck into a convent to shag a nun.
Just so y'all know, she later set that convent on fire so she and that nun could sneak out. And she seduced one of the men sheād dueled.
Mademoiselle de Maupin (Julie dāAubigny) has always been one of my role models. Iām so glad this post exists so more people can learn about her. The more you know, the more thereās to love. Letās see:
Around 1678 (she was like fourteen or fifteen), she was making a living in Marseilles by doing fencing exhibitions, dressed in male clothes, with her boyfriend who was on the run because he killed a guy in an illegal duel in Paris.
Then she joined an opera company and fell in love with a young woman, but the womanās parents decided to put her in a convent to, you know, protect her honor and all thatā¦
ā¦so yeah, thatās when the whole āsneaking into a convent to help a nun sneak out and also putting the room on fireā thing happened.
She wounded a guy through the shoulder with a sword in a duel because he had made fun of her clothes. They became friends after she came back a few days later to ask if he was okay.
She beat a singer who was quite famous at the time because he was being a jerk to some women from her new opera troupe in Paris.
She kissed a young woman in front of everyone at a society ball, and that angered three noblemen who were there, so she beat them all in duel and fled to Brussels. Then she resumed her opera career there.
Then she returned to the Paris opera and had yet more problems with the law because she beat up her landlord.
She retired to a convent after the death of her love Madame la Marquise de Florensac, and died at only 33 years old.
The legend says that she never got arrested for all her deeds because king Louis XIV thought she was way too entertaining to deserve death. I have no idea if thatās true. But she did sing in Versailles for the Court, so thereās that.
You forgot the other cool part, which is that while duelling all these people, she would often sing songs mocking her opponents in full operatic grandeur. Ā Can you imagine a worse thing than your duelling opponent not Ā only beating you easily, but also singing at sixty decibels about how youāre a terrible person and an inadequate lover? Ā La Maupin was legendary!
I want a film about her.
Ever see someone reblog something and its like 'holy crap! i forgot people actually follow my blog!' ? I love you people. Thank you to all my lovely followers. You are awesome.
Itās 2016, can we please stop pretending like disabilities are harder on the non-disabled people who are close to the disabled person than they are on the actual disabled person themselves?

the creator of the Spoon Theory has said any disabled person may use āspoonsā so stop saying only certain groups of disabled people can
Here is Christine Miserandinoās faq about spoon theory.
What is the Spoon Theory?
The Spoon Theory was created by Christine Miserandino. For the full theory, please visit her websiteĀ here. The theory is simply a story that explains what it is like to live with a chronic illness.Ā
A person who is chronically disabled only has a limited amount of expendable energy each day. TheĀ spoon theoryĀ uses a metaphor of spoons to turn energy into a measurable concept.Ā
A person living with chronic illness only has a certain number of spoons in their possession each day, and every small action a person takes can result in a lost spoon.
Once a person loses a spoon, it is very hard to get that back until after a full nightās sleep. Simple actions like getting out of bed, taking a shower, walking, and driving can require enormous amounts of energy that people donāt have.
These disabilities can be visible or invisible. You cannot look at a person and tell if they are disabled or not, and these disabilities are not always physical in nature.
Some examples of disorders that are chronic and draining of energy are:
Depression
PTSD
Functional Neurological Disorder
Anxiety disorders
Hypothyroidism
Fibromyalgia
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
POTS
Nail-Patella Syndrome
Multiple Sclerosis
Lupus
Endometriosis
There are countless other disabilities that arenāt listed here! If someone you know is disabled, please take the time to try to understand their condition(s) and work with them to create a healthy and de-stigmatized relationship.
I added paragraphs for readability.
A futuristic world or utopia can exist without the erasure of the disabled, advanced technology in fiction should not have the aim of eradicating disabled people, we are not flaws in the system, we are varied and incredible human beings and we deserve to be told we have a future in this world
Winnie the Pooh quotes make me cry.
āI think we dream so we donāt have to be apart for so long. If weāre in each otherās dreams, we can be together all the time.āĀ
āI used to believe in forever, but foreverās too good to be trueāĀ
āI donāt feel very much like Pooh today,ā said Pooh. āThere there,ā said Piglet. āIāll bring you tea and honey until you do.āĀ
āI wonder what Piglet is doing,ā thought Pooh. āI wish I were there to be doing it, too.āĀ
āIf you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you.āĀ
āWeāll be friends forever, wonāt we, Pooh?ā asked Piglet. āEven longer,ā Pooh answered.
āIf ever there is tomorrow when weāre not together⦠there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if weāre apart⦠Iāll always be with you.āĀ
āForever isnāt long at all, Christopher, as long as Iām with you.āĀ
āHow lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.ā
People tend to make a lot of ableist assumptions about what makes life worth living.
