Maybe this will only be interesting to me, but the screenshot on the left is from September 2023 and shows the top ships on Hockey RPF. The second screenshot is from today (January 2026).

These aren’t super shocking but it is interesting to see how many more fics in general there are for the top 10 ships. Specifically the fact that the MattDrai fics doubled since 2023. Probably has a lot to do with back to back stanley cup finals against each other. Idk I just assumed we all hated Matthew Tkachuk now. Maybe that’s just me.

Also, how long do we think it’ll take for WillMack to make it to top 3? My prediction is they’ll take over Mitch and Auston by the end of the year. And I think eventually they’ll beat out Kane and Toews. I do really believe SidGeno is untouchable for now but it’ll be interesting to keep an eye on. In a post Heated Rivalry world who knows what could happen. Anyway. Super interesting!

Not only snl, they're going to be on Fallon with Hillary Knight. 100% she's going to be used for the pr narrative "this women's team player says she knows they respect her so let's forgive them for finding misogyny funny in the first place and eagerly cosigning a fascist government." A few days ago Jack was asked if he agreed that the joke being made was "unfortunate" and he dead ass said "it was what it was." He posted pics from the white house today. They don't give a fuck and her words will be used by fans, media, Hockeey USA to absolve them.

On one hand I hope they address it, on the other, I really think Hillary and the whole woman’s team would probably rather focus on the fact that they’re champions rather than anything else.

But I do think it would be tone deaf to not say anything at all. We’ll see.

By this logic, I will just laugh whenever I see someone say or do something wrong because I’m so uncomfortable. We just need to understand different points of view I guess.

I’m a little confused by your wording so excuse me if I get any of this wrong! Not trying to misunderstand you on purpose.

I can absolutely see why it happened, you’re in the moment you’re drinking and someone makes a joke. Even though it’s the world’s worst human being and it’s a shitty joke that puts down your colleagues/friends, I can see being caught up in the moment and laughing without thinking.

What gets me, is that I haven’t seen ANY of them apologized besides Charlie McAvoy. They all just make excuses for themselves. All they say is “The women’s team knows how much we respect them”. Okay, so use the word “Sorry”. I don’t know why they refuse to do it. I’ve deleted social media as of mid day yesterday so I could have missed someone else saying sorry but… I doubt it.

Anyway. The whole women’s thing is kind of the tip of the iceberg for me at least. The fact that they all went to the state of the union and got on their knees for Trump on the same day he was exposed for hiding evidence that he raped a minor is too much for me. Seeing them in MAGA hats with Karoline Leavitt, who is like top five evil woman on the planet, is hard to come back from for me. There’s no other way to spin it tbh.

Anyway… fuck em I’m not even sure what else to say.

I’ll be doing my best to keep up with devils games but anything that i can’t learn VIA espn notification will be beyond me. wish me luck!

just wanted to say thank you for everything you mentioned in the reply, and for helping me work through my feelings.

You are so right about not leaving and simply throwing in the towel. Hockey is for everyone, and if other people aren’t going to voice our perspective then we have to ourselves — to use ur own words cause damn ur poetic — carve out more space for us <3. I’m not gonna let myself be pushed out of another toxic space but it might take a bit to find my footing again here, but in no way do I see it as a moral failing. There’s so many instances of the same sort of thing happening other sports, eventually you just have to find your people for our own sanity during this insanity.

Hi Anon, you’re so sweet. I’m happy to talk about it! I don’t blame you for feeling like it’ll take some time to regain your footing. I feel the same way. I feel like it would be crazy not to feel this way at a time like this. Nevertheless we must persist.

Like you said - you gotta find your people. I hope you and all the people of devils tumblr know I’m a safe place to come to if you ever wanna talk about anything. Like you know, the ongoing and ever intensifying horrors of being a hockey fan. Lol 🙃
