He had left his jacket in his apartment and had brought his smokes with him. He put them on the table next to where I had put his glass of beer. He was very impressed when he saw our cat walk out of the bedroom picking her up and saying he liked cats a lot.
He wanted to know how long we had her because pets weren't allowed in the building. I told him that she was a part of the family and Pam would have my head on a platter about her cat, he laughed. We weren't the only people in the building who owned a cat. Pam came in shortly after we had arrived not even having time to finish our first glass of beer.
The three of us sat in our living room for nearly an hour chopping it up about the neighborhood, the apartments, our children that Pam and myself had and our jobs. He worked at a chocolate factory and offered to bring Pam a box of chocolates one day. Of all the guests we've had in our apartment he appeared to be no different doing or saying nothing unusual. With the upcoming holiday being Thanksgiving, we invited him over for dinner if he found himself alone on that day. He agreed thanked us for the beer and left. Jeff didn't come to have dinner with us because his parents came to spend that day with him.

Despite his shy and polite demeanor, Jeffrey Dahmer certainly was not the mild-mannered individual that others perceived him as. In fact, the man engaged in disorderly and inappropriate behavior throughout his life. His first significant offence occurred on October 7, 1981, when he was asked to leave the Maxel lounge of the Ramada Inn because he was drinking straight from a bottle of vodka. Dahmer refused and employees escorted him outside, where he continued to linger around the front door despite being told that he couldn’t drink there, either. When the police arrived, Dahmer became confrontational, swearing at the officers, refusing to answer their questions, and resisting arrest. He even threatened to kick one of the officers in the groin. On the ride to the police station, he strangely kept urging the officers to take him outside and beat him up. Dahmer was charged with carrying an open container of liquor, engaging in disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
Four years later on August 18th, Dahmer would again incur the wrath of police by giving the finger to an officer. April 7th found him at a bar on South 2nd Street, once again drunk and belligerent. The female bartender refused to serve him. In response, Dahmer threw tokens at her and demanded that he be served or he would shoot her. She promptly called the police. Four officers were required to hold him down and take him into custody. At 1 pm that day, Dahmer was released upon his own recognizance against charges of Disorderly Conduct, Threat to Injure, and City Hindering.
