Their ages here are at the time of UTY taking place.
Dalv’s father! Veteran of the war, though has never actually killed a human before. He has however drank human blood before. He was one of the few pure, 100% vampires that survived being put into the underground. He was able to adapt to not having human blood anymore. Because of this, he really values tight-knit communities that keep each other well and safe. He’s sort of a leader among the few remaining vampires for his efforts to keep vampires alive and flourishing in their own small neighborhoods. He’s only tender around his wife and kid (Dalv), but that’s not to say he’s rude to others. He’s just more guarded or professional.
He’s also the traditional type. Cares deeply about culture and history. He has many tales of human history that he tells Dalv, though he’ll often turn these stories into lectures on why humans are evil. He wears his family crest, owns many novels written by vampires, and is a lot closer to the “tropey” vampire. He takes pride in it.
He’ll isolate himself from others because he thinks people who aren’t likeminded are a strange and will only hurt him.
This is Dalv’s Mom. Similarly to Dalv’s Dad, she is a veteran of the war. Though, she has actually taken a few lives. Despite coming off as way more friendly than Mr. Alucard, she’s got somewhat of a superiority complex. She’s no egomaniac, however if she doesn’t like someone, she’ll tell herself they aren’t worth her time because she’s better. If Dalv told her he got bullied at school, she’s respond by telling him that he’ll grow up one day and show them all.
She used to live in a volcano on the surface, and was going to move to Hotland, but the general stigma around demons and vampires (whole different can of worms) persuaded her to move into a community filled with mostly those types of monsters.
She too isolates herself from others, but for a different reason. Her confidence makes her feel like she doesn’t need other people, instead of fearing that they’ll hurt her.
Her parenting philosophy with Dalv is to uplift him and give him everything he needs to become one of the most powerful monsters in the underground. Even though Dalv prefers a normal lifestyle.
Malum and Diaemus got married very soon after the barrier was made. They met during the war and moved in together underground. They had Dalv around 70 years after the barrier was made (in my HC Dalv is 107 at the time of Yellow). They were one of the few monsters to notice Dalv’s disappearance, but due to their isolationist nature and the fact that Dalv lived in Snowdin, a separate area of the underground, their efforts to find him/get a search group going were unsuccessful.
Dalv gets a lot of his reclusive philosophy from his parents. When he was younger and other kids were scared of him, the solution his parents gave him was “don’t bother with them. You don’t need them.” And Dalv didn’t go outside nearly as much as other kids did. They were good parents. They coddled Dalv and always wanted to protect him. They encouraged his endeavors. They just fostered unhealthy social habits.
Dalv worries that his parents would not approve of his lifestyle if he were to live life as a regular author/artist/musician who studied magic on the side, but his parents would be cool with it. They’ll take a while to warm up fully to Dalv’s new friends though.
Still, they’re an overall loving family. It’s clear where Dalv gets his own parental instincts from.
