NOTE. guess who’s back with the boyfriend beomgyu agenda and more content for you all!!!! this is a bit self-indulgent but who cares, i love this ୧(^ 〰 ^)୨
if beomgyu continued to stare at you like a hawk, you would already drop dead right then and there; you were convinced that the sheer force of his stare would be enough to knock you off your feet. if laser eyes were a thing, you’d already be a puddle on the floor by now. after all, you were just simply applying chapstick.
the chapstick beomgyu bought for you.
beomgyu’s voice broke the creeping silence that enveloped the both of you, breaking the unbearable thoughts you were thinking of, “hey.”
“what flavor is that?” he continued.
and yes, the playful glint in his eyes wasn't left unnoticed by you.
you blinked at him in surprise, momentarily stunned by him. his question caught you off guard, especially with all his attention now on you. and now, you’re just realizing how intense his gaze was on you this whole time, and you couldn’t help but be flustered at that thought. seriously, you applied that chapstick more than once, but today, it felt like a performance worthy of an oscar with beomgyu’s stare.
you stammered, “uhm… well, you got it for me a few weeks ago, remember?”
an ear-to-ear grin tugged at the corner of his lips and before you could even process this whole situation, beomgyu crashed his lips onto yours with full force that left you breathless, shaken, and your heart racing for a few minutes. his lips molded into yours with such sensation that you lost the track of time, lost in the intoxicating sensation of his lips against yours.
you pull back slightly, breathless and in a flustered state before you stare at him wide-eyed and ask, “what was that for?”
beomgyu just gives you another grin, and the familiar twinkle in his eyes is back as he leans in for another heated kiss, “i had to confirm my flavor theory, didn’t i?”
you can’t help but chuckle lightly at his words as you playfully swatted his arms, pushing him back slightly to reject his kiss. “you’re ridiculous, gyu, y’know that?”
“ridiculously in love with you, yes. but i suppose with my detective skills aside, it’s not like we kiss often for me not to figure it out,” beomgyu quips, his voice dripping with absolute charm.
with your mouth still lingering from the kiss earlier, you managed to still tease him between breaths, your cheeks flushed, “you really know how to catch a person off-guard, huh?”
“well, a surprise attack is always a tried-and-true strategy,” beomgyu says with the grin still evident on his face, looking like a complete fool struck by cupid’s bow, with hearts surrounding him and everything.
he continues, his hands dropping on your waist, kneading the cloth-covered skin like a masseur with his voice dropping just a little low exclusive for you to hear, “besides, you haven’t kissed me at all this whole day, baby.”

it’s cold.
you’re curled up on your side of the bed, shivering from the temperature. your teeth are chattering, and your body is tightly wrapped around itself in an attempt to retain whatever warmth it can; at this point, you’re already a human pretzel in an attempt to bring heat to yourself. the chill in the air nips at you as you look around the room, hoping to catch a glimpse of beomgyu returning with your blanket. you just know he’s taking his sweet time with his beauty sleep, probably fiddling with his phone. but in your heart, you also know that he’s doing it all with a mischievous smile, fully aware of the fact that you’re freezing without your own blanket — he’s enjoying every second of your cold-induced misery.
as time passes, you can’t help but feel a little frustrated. your patience wears thin as it begins to freeze alongside the rest of you. you really don’t want to bother beomgyu, but it wasn’t like you could ignore the cold any longer. you clear your throat, and he finally looks at you, a mischievous grin spreading across his face, one that you know all too well.
“do you need anything, my sweet angel darling?” he asks you innocently, even fluttering his lashes, adding more fuel to the fire; you can’t help but roll your eyes at him, and his sickening grin widens, much to his amusement.
beomgyu can’t help it though, not when he has you wrapped around his finger.
you let out an exaggerated sigh, and you feigh exasperation as you speak in utter sarcasm, “oh, just a cozy cabin, a warm fireplace, and maybe a personal heater as well.”
beomgyu dramatically gasps and clutches his chest as if what you demanded deeply offended him. “alas, my love, i fear i cannot provide you with your demands, but i am here to give you a warm hug.”
he opens his arms wide, a mock-serious expression on his face, and you can’t help but let out an airy laugh at his antics; his energy is already warming you up and he hasn’t even given you his hug yet. you scoot closer to him with a playful eye-roll, sinking into his warm and comforting embrace. beomgyu’s arms wrap around you protectively, letting you melt deeper with his body heat, and you’re met with the steady thump of his heart against your ear.
“there, now tell me this isn’t better,” he murmurs half-jokingly, his voice soft and soothing. you let out a sigh, giving him a sign that you’re indeed enjoying this, and beomgyu gently draws circles on your back.
you rest your head against his chest, your eyes meeting his gaze, which held the softest look you’ve ever seen. you feel the steady rise and fall of his chest as he breathes and you admit, your voice laced with deep affection, “much better.”

you loved taehyun.
he was your best friend, and had been your best friend for as long as you could remember. he was your comfort, your safe space, and just an amazing person.
your wide-eyed, curious best friend.
you weren’t aware when- but your feelings for him changed. all of a sudden, he wasn’t just your best friend, he was someone you wanted to be something more with.
maybe it was when he joined the basketball team sophomore year. noticing just how fit your best friend really was.
you would catch yourself blushing when he said something, blood rushing into your cheeks at his little comments. mundane classes were now filled with excitement simply because he was there.
you didn’t know if he had notices the change/ you hoped he hadn’t noticed the change. the last thing you wanted to do was ruin your friendship with taehyun because you couldn’t control the way your heart felt.
you tried desperately to push all the feelings down, trying your hardest to not let taehyun’s heart-stopping antics effect you.
it seemed as though it was all in vain. no matter how hard you pushed, buried, drowned your feelings out- they just because stronger.
you had tried to distance yourself, telling taehyun you were “too busy” or had “too much homework”. little excuses that were believable!
taehyun was too nice though. moving his schedule around so he could make time to hang out with you, even skipping practice one day so he could stay in your house and watch a movie sprawled out on the couch with you.
you had no escape from him, and although you were desperately trying to find an escape from being near him so often, being suffocated by his presence everywhere you went because everything reminded you of him- you knew you couldn’t be without him.
you desiderated to be with him. you wanted nothing more than to call him yours.
-
“you’re gonna be rooting for me tonight, yeah?”, taehyun’s voice sounded behind you, making you jump slightly from his sudden appearance.
“of course i am, what kind of best friend would i be if i didn’t?”, you spun around to look at him, trying to keep a calm composure as you took in his outfit.
his black hair framed his face perfectly, a white polo adorning his top, with a navy blue crewneck overtop, khaki shorts on, showing off his long legs.
he knew how to style himself, and you knew he knew he looked good. he smiled softly at you, before stepping forward and pulling you into a hug.
he breathed out a sigh, his chin resting on the top of your head, “what would i do without you?”
you felt suffocated. everything about him was suffocating. his cologne was filling your senses, his strong arms holding you against him.
“you’d die without me, obviously.”
you felt his laugh rumble in his chest, his telltale giggle leaving his lips. he moved his head back to look down at you, everything felt entirely too intimate for you.
“y/n…”, his voice trailed off a bit, eyebrows furrowing a bit as he looked like he was trying to collect the words he wanted to use in his mind.
“yes?”
“do you maybe want-“
“taehyun!”
a voice coming from the entrance made both your beads turn, taking the chance to untangle yourself from taehyun’s arms, smiling awkwardly at beomgyu, who had walked in.
“i’m gonna go, i’ll see you guys later?”, you excused yourself quietly, waving at the two boys before heading out of the room, not missing the way beomgyu sent you a sly smile, feeling as though a brick was lifted off your chest the second you made it out.
you could only yearn for taehyun from the sidelines of your heart, never fully being able to tell him just how you felt, never even being able to hint at it, holding all your love and admiration for him in a special place in your heart, keeping it protected so you could never be let down.
over time, you feared your facade was breaking down, your love for taehyun shining through for your best friend's eyes, but never for his. it was as though it was invisible to him, something everyone could see but him.
maybe you were doing something wrong. no- maybe there was just something wrong with you. who falls in love with their best friend? who lets themself dangerously tiptoe between the lines of friendship and lover, lines that were blurred to no one else but you.
you threw your head back with a groan, fighting the frustrated tears that threatened to spill from your eyes, overflowing with yet another wave of regret as you grumbled to yourself while walking away, probably looking like a psycho to anyone else.
-
you watched taehyun run with his teammates, captivating your view as he was the only thing visible in your line of sight.
you heard the cheers, you heard the claps, you heard the whistles, you heard everything. you saw everything. but at the same time- you didn’t.
whenever taehyun was on the court, immersing himself in the game, losing himself in the thrill of it all, the cheers that pushed him, motivated him, he was captivating to you.
the way he smiled brightly when they scored, pearly eyes glistening as he celebrated with him teammates, yelling an exclamation that had a large smile pulling itself on your lips as you clapped and cheered with the crowd, exclaiming for the man you loved.
the game continued on slowly, when the opposing team would score, your team would score, it was a race to the end, and neither team was backing down.
you knew why this game was so important. it was the pre-qualifiers for tournaments, and getting to those meant big things- obviously.
you were stressed, to put it simply. you found it funny sometimes, how you had never been a fan of basketball, never payed it any mind, never growing an interest in it- or any sports- in the slightest.
that was until taehyun started playing.
he would meet you after practice, telling you everything that went down, how he dunked perfectly, how he scored perfectly from the center of the court!
you nodded along every time, pretending to understand the words and rules that were coming out of his mouth.
it sounded like simlish to you.
taehyun must’ve caught on to this at some point, because soon he was begging you to just watch one NBA game with him.
“pleeease, y/n. just one, i just want you to be able to understand.”, he whined, pulling on your arm as you stared up at him exasperatedly.
“why are you so adamant about this? it’s not like i’m the one playing!”
“well, yeah,”, he looked a bit dejected, “but i want my favorite person to know what i’m doing when she comes to my games.”
your breath caught in your throat as your eyes widened slightly, not having enough time to control your reactions as his words hit you.
“well- i- i mean, sure. yeah. i could watch like… one game.”, your words stumbled out of your mouth, your brain had completely shut down, words spilling out like an avalanche as you attempted- and failed- to regain your composure and not look like you were seconds away from ripping your hair out of your head.
he sent you a sly smile, seemingly aware of the effect he had on you. little shit. why were you even friends with him?
he pinched your check, muttering something about you being cute before sauntering off to your couch, “thank you! i’ll put on one of my favorite games!”
rolling your eyes, you realized you had once again fallen victim to your overwhelming feelings for taehyun, giving into anything he wanted because how could you ever say no to him?
and so you sat with him, listening as he explained what the referees were calling out, pausing the television every few minutes to go in depth on a subject, hands flying around and such a serious expression on his face, you almost got distracted by him before you had to catch yourself.
but the more he ranted, the more you realized that seeing him ramble on and on about something he was so passionate about was something you wanted to see more of. so, you let him play another game, and another… and another.
over time, you slowly realized that you were becoming interested in basketball. whether it was genuine interest, or you gaslighting yourself to be interested because of taehyun’s love, you weren’t sure.
but you learned all the rules.
every time taehyun had free time, he would come over and watch a new game with you, chips and drinks surrounding you two as you immersed yourselves in the television, face scrunching up when something unfortunate happened.
it got to a point where you caught yourself complaining out loud when they called a foul, eyes rolling and asking taehyun, are they serious, before angrily stuffing chips into your mouth.
and soon you were jumping up with him when the team you were rooting for won, exclaiming with him as you did your little happy dance in the living room, never once stopping to question how stupidly uncoordinated you looked.
then you were at his practices, you were bringing him lunch, you were watching him play. you became close with his teammates, learning all their names, and even know as he played in college and roomed with 4 of his teammates who you had grown close with, you were still going to his practices when you had time. it was a routine.
basketball had grown to be something you loved, and enjoyed. and you had taehyun to thank for all of it.
a yell tore you out of your daydreaming, zoning back in on the game as you realized the game was about to end, and taehyun’s team needed to score this point to win the game.
you let your elbows rest on your knees as you leaned forward, concentration etched on your face as you watched the ball travel back and forth between players, the loud squeaks of shoes rubbing against the gym floor slightly causing your eyes to twitch, but you stayed focused.
players on the opposing team were starting to become restless, and you picked up on that, noticing taehyun did as well, his eyes zoning in on the ball as he grounded himself to watch where the ball was going next before he leapt into action.
he weaved through the players easily, dodging hands and bodies that tried to block him, easily swiping the ball from underneath another player, holding onto the ball as he spun away from the man before letting the ball drop to the ground again as he dribbled it easily, making his way to the middle of the court.
you watched as he closed his eyes for a quick second, eyebrows furrowing as he pushed breath out his lips. you noticed it was a habit he had picked up, when he was getting ready to shoot, and he was concentrated, he made that face. you found it endearing.
with 5 seconds left on the clock, his eyes opened back up, a dark gaze in them as he zoned in on the basket. his arms lifted up, his fingers gliding off the ball easily as he shot it into the air, watching as it rolled through the air, landing in the basket and scoring a point easily.
the room erupted with cheers as you realized taehyun had won the game. he had made the winning shot. he was going to the tournaments.
you couldn’t hold back the yell that escaped your throat as you screamed for him, watching as his head turned towards your voice, before he was running straight to you with a wide, confident smile on his face.
“did you see what i did?”, he practically yelled over the cheers, arms pulling you into his embrace before quickly pulling back, hands coming up to hold onto the sides of your face.
you breath caught in your throat, a warmth spreading across your whole body, “yes! you were amazing!”
he stared at you for a second, not saying anything. there was once again the expression you couldn’t read on his face, his brows furrowing the tiniest bit.
you didn’t have time to think about it too much though, because as you opened your mouth to say something, you felt a pair of soft lips press against yours.
a small gasp left your lips, your whole body melting into taehyun’s touch and kissing him back before you even processed what you were doing.
his lips moved against yours perfectly, soft lips enveloping your own as his hands caressed your face, his touch featherlight, but somehow still holding you in place.
he pulled away slowly, pressing his forehead against your own as heavy breaths escaped the both of you.
you didn’t know what had just happened. your brain was going blank, thoughts seemingly disappearing into this air as you tried to recollect yourself, tried to make any sense over what had just happened.
your eyes fluttered open, staring into taehyun’s eyes, not knowing exactly what to say. a dark red blush covered his cheeks, and he carefully removed his hands from your face and pulled his face away from yours, reality slowly hitting the both of you.
“i.. i don’t know why i did that.”
oh.
did he regret it?
you didn’t know what to say. your felt as though your mouth had gone dry, eyes blinking haphazardly and mouth stuttering open and closed.
“oh..”, was all that you were able to get out.
taehyun opened his mouth to speak again, but before he could get any words out, soobin was clapping him on the back, thanking him for winning and doing so well for the team.
“hey, y/n!”, he greeted you quickly, before his eyes were quickly fleeting back to taehyun.
you didn’t have it in you to reply at the moment.
you watched as taehyun was dragged away, eyes holding contact with yours for as long as he could until bodies were blocking his view from you, turning him around, speaking to him, thanking him, things he should’ve wanted to hear.
but he didn’t.
he didn’t want to hear those things right now.
he wanted to speak to you, he wanted to be able to tell you it wasn’t a mistake, he knew why he kissed you. he kissed you because he was in love with you. truly, madly, deeply in love with you in such an irrevocable way he couldn’t change it even if he tried.
but as he desperately looked at the spot where you were standing seconds ago, he saw no one, the ghost of the incident that had happened between you two seconds ago replaying in your mind.
you tried to hold back your tears as you stumbled through the doors of the gym, not knowing what to do or think or feel or..
you were overstimulated, wanting everything to slow down and speed up at the same time.
finally, the flood of tears you were holding back broke, tears streaming down your face freely as you tried to make your way to your car as quickly as you could, not wanting anyone to see or hear the way ugly sobs were leaving your mouth.
you didn’t know why taehyun had kissed you.
you thought for a second he felt the same way as you, maybe he was as deeply in love with you as you were with him!
but the way he looked after, the expression on his face, the words that left his mouth..
you felt stupid.
you felt stupid. there was no other words to describe how you felt. foolish. you were foolish for thinking that way for even a second.
and as you climbed into your car, a whole new wave of emotions hit you as more sobs wrecked your body, letting your head hit the steering wheel as regret coursed through your veins.
what had you done?
-
you were a wreck.
you hadn’t called taehyun in two days, hadn’t texted him, you hadn’t even been going to school for the sole fear of running into him.
your friends had noticed your absence, knowing that something like this was not part of the norm for you, so you had been getting bombarded with messages asking if you were okay, if you were feeling sick, if you needed someone to talk to.
you replied with a simple “i’m fine<3” every time. because how lame would you seem if you told them you had fallen into some type of depression because you had kissed your best friend?
there was something so delicate about your and taehyun’s friendship now, and you were scared that if you messed with it in the slightest, it would rip. and you couldn’t risk losing your best friend.
but what if by not talking to him you were losing him?
what if you talked to him and lost him that way?
too many negative thoughts were swirling in your mind like a hurricane ravishing a town, leaving nothing but destruction in its wake.
perhaps it was time to just… watch netflix while cuddled in your favorite blanket, blocking out the rest of the world and all your worries.
yeah, that sounded really nice right about now.
-
taehyun had been anxiously checking his phone nonstop for the past two days.
debating whether he should text you first, or wait for you to reach out first.
he was in such a dilemma, he didn’t know what to do to solve this.
actually, the answer was simple. but was he ever actually going to confess to you?
that’s funny.
the boys didn’t want to say anything the first day, brushing it off as them looking too deeply into things.
but this was not how taehyun acted normally. no, he carried himself so confidently. he knew what he wanted. he didn’t back down. this taehyun they had seem moping around the dorm, school, and even practice- a place where all his worries usually disappeared- was not the taehyun they knew.
“hey, taehyun," yeonjun called, taking the spot next to him on the couch, “have you been feeling alright lately?”
taehyun’s head jerked up, a bit of confusion painting his face as he stared at his older friend, “yeah, i’ve been fine. why?”
“you just haven’t been acting like your normal self lately. wanted to make sure everything was alright.”, yeonjun explained, sending a small smile taehyun’s way before getting ready to move on with his day after being reassured taehyun was indeed okay.
while standing up from the couch, he felt a slight tug on his shirt and turned around to see taehyun lightly grabbing onto his shirt, a conflicted look in his eyes.
“taehyun,” he sat down once again, giving his full attention to him, “what’s going on?”
he stayed quiet for a bit, obviously not knowing how to approach this conversation in any way.
“are you done watching tv? i wanna play my game.”, beomgyu’s voice echoed down the hall, bouncing into the living room without a care in the world.
“beomgyu, just wait a second, alright?”, yeonjun asked him, and beomgyu immediately noticed how yeonjun was in his “big serious brother mode”- a name the boys had made for when he got like this- and slowly walked over to the couch, taking a seat near taehyun.
“continue, taehyun.”
taehyun shook his head lightly, “i don’t even know where to start.”
“well, just try and explain it. i’ll wait.”, yeonjun reassured him, and taehyun was grateful to have such caring friends for a second.
yeonjun’s head visibly shot back from the speed of which the words were thrown at him, not even being able to pick out a few.
beomgyu’s voice filled the silence, “what the fuck did you just say?”
“slow down your words, tae.”
“okay,” he took a deep breath before clearing his throat, “i kissed y/n at the basketball game two days ago when we won because i was excited and now i don’t know what to do, i’m afraid i ruined our friendship. i told her i didn’t know why i kissed her and didn’t say anything else”
silence.
no one said anything for a solid five seconds, if you listened closely enough you would probably be able to hear the neighbors next door.
taehyun said nothing as he stared at yeonjun awaiting his reaction, for him to say something, anything, but all he was getting was a dumbfounded look in return.
then beomgyu’s laugh filled the room, loud and boisterous as he smacked taehyun on his back, hard enough to make taehyun spin around with an exasperated look.
“dude, are you fucking stupid?”, beomgyu exclaimed after calming himself down, smiling at taehyun.
“this isn’t funny, beomgyu. i seriously don’t want to lose her!”, taehyun sighed, letting his head rest in his hands as he took a deep breath to calm himself down.
yeonjun moved himself a bit closer to taehyun, patting his back as he tried to form his next sentence.
“look, taehyun, i’m pretty sure beomgyu’s not laughing to make fun of you, it’s just-“, he started, before being rudely cut off.
“she’s been in love with you for years!”
taehyun’s head shot up at the sound of that, staring at beomgyu with an incredulous look.
“what?”
“i’m surprised you haven’t realized. we all know, i guess you’re the only one that didn’t.”, beomgyu continued, speaking as if this was supposed to be common knowledge to taehyun.
it sounded like some alien language to him.
you? in love with him? there’s no way he didn’t notice.
“beomgyu, you better not be fucking lying to me right now.”, taehyun spoke, brain running into overdrive.
“he’s not.”, yeonjun spoke this time, sending taehyun a reassuring smile.
“i’ve spoken to her about it before. i told her to just tell you because it wouldn’t go as badly as she was thinking. she’s honestly head over heels for you.”, he continued.
“but-“, taehyun tried to speak, before being cut off by yeonjun once again.
“and, to be quite honest, you ghosting her after randomly kissing her out of nowhere, then proceeding to tell her you didn’t know why you did… that has to be making her feel like shit, knowing how much she likes you.”, yeonjun finished. he made sure to give taehyun a disappointed dad look.
taehyun was standing up in a second, the boys not even being able to process how fast he was moving until he was pulling on his shoes by the door.
“taehyun, where’re you going?”, yeonjun asked, and instead of getting a reply, he got the door shutting in his face.
“it’s raining, taehyun get a jacket!”, beomgyu also
called out to him, but his warnings fell on dead ears as taehyun was long gone.
there was nothing but adrenaline coursing through his veins as he pushed through the heavy rain, ignoring the way the fat droplets stung his skin, feeling himself become more and more drenched with each king stride he took, already knowing he would be getting a cold from this, but he couldn’t find it in himself to care.
all he knew was that he needed to make things up to you.
if only he had picked up on the signs that were apparently obvious to everyone else, maybe you would’ve been his by now, but he was so oblivious to everything that he missed every little sign and hint you threw his way.
he pushed past people walking on the street, not even bothering to apologize as he cut people off, mind fixed on one thing and one thing only.
feet slipping on wet concrete as he caught himself from falling too many times to count at this point.
he finally made it to your apartment building, standing outside for a few seconds to catch his breath and make sure he actually knew what he was about to do.
he thought he should’ve been second guessing at least one part of this by now, but he wasn’t. not one single thing.
he stared up at the floor you lived on, mentally readying himself for whatever outcome he walked out of the building with. he just needed you to know, needed you to understand how far the extent of his feelings for you were.
he was indisputably in love with you.
-
you had to say, sitting on the couch for seven hours straight was slowly making you feel worse rather better.
you had nothing else to do though, and you refused to leave the house for reasons that were obvious to you only.
so, watching reruns of gilmore girls had become your new reality for the last couple days, curled under your favorite blanket with a snack in arms reach at all times.
it was entertaining at first, it distracted you, and it felt like the start of summer break, when you did absolutely nothing for a couple days and just savored not being in school.
at this point though, you just felt like you were rotting into the couch. your mind drifted off to your movie marathons with taehyun every once in a while, and you would have to turn off the tv and get on your phone for a bit.
it was like he followed you around everywhere. even if he wasn’t there in person, you tried to do everything you could to distract yourself, to think of anything besides him.
but your mind would always come back to him. you would find some way to relate what you were doing with him, and that would ruin your day all over again.
presently, you were watching pretty little liars, starting to venture into shows you had watched years and years ago.
you were just getting to a good scene when a knock sounded on your door.
you weren’t expecting company, confused as you stood up from the couch to slowly make your way over to the door.
god, no one needed to see you in this state, you were praying it was just a delivery guy or something.
you hadn’t ordered anything though, so that seemed implausible.
looking through your peephole, you felt as though all the air was ripped from your lungs.
taehyun was standing on the other side.
you almost didn’t open it, wanting to turn the other way and run straight for your bedroom, but you knew you were going to have to speak to him about what happened sooner or later.
he was also soaking wet, and you felt bad for him.
slowly, you opened the door, feeling meek as your eyes met his, trying to not break down on the spot.
“taehyun.. what are you doing here,” you looked him up and down, “and why are you soaking wet?”
you grabbed a hold of his forearm so you could pull him inside, immediately setting him down on the couch as you began to trudge off to your room to grab him clothes he had left the last time he was here.
you were trying so hard to hold yourself together right now.
reaching into your closet to grab his clothes, you heard footsteps approach from behind you.
“y/n.”
you didn’t turn to face him, instead keeping your eyes trained ahead, refusing to let yourself break.
“you can just listen, that’s fine.”
you heard a quiet sigh, before he began speaking again.
“i.. i know i messed up a few days ago. honestly, i don’t know what was going through my head. i mean, i do know. i wanted to kiss you. i really like you, i mean, i honestly think i’m in love with you but- i just, that wasn’t the right time to act on my feelings for you. and i was in shock about what i did so i just.. i said i didn't know why i did it. i do know. i did it because i’m in love with you, and i don’t know if you feel the same way, beomgyu told me you did which is why i ran all the way over here but-“
“taehyun.”
you had turned around while he was mid rant, and he didn’t even realize, looking at the ground while he talked, fingers fidgeting with the hem of his shirt, and his own hands. he was obviously incredibly nervous.
“hm?”, his voice was meek, eyes meeting yours once again.
“i’m in love with you, too. i have been for years.”, you replied quietly, a small smile on your lips, watching the way his eyes lit up at your sentence.
he took two quick steps towards you before his lips were on yours once again.
hands pressed on either side of your face, holding you like you would disappear if he let go.
there was so much emotion, so many more feelings than you thought could be exchanged through a simple kiss.
his lips molded with yours perfectly, moving against you in a way that made you feel complete. you were once again completely surrounded by him, but you enjoyed it this time.
you felt like you were on cloud nine, your hands sliding all over his arms, trying to find some way to ground yourself.
very carefully, you felt his tongue prod at your lips, and your mouth was opening before you knew what you were doing.
mouths working together in such a love-filled way, you let all your inhibitions go, completely falling into this new feeling, and letting yourself be fully surrounded by it.
was this what people meant when they talked about a true love’s kiss?
the only reason you pulled away was due to your lungs starting to burn from the lack of oxygen, keeping your eyes closed as you caught your breath.
“so pretty..”, you heard taehyun whisper, and you couldn’t fight the shy smile that formed on your lips.
your eyes fluttered open softly, letting out a quiet giggle once you met his eyes, head leaning into the crook of his neck as your hands circled his waist, holding him so close to you.
a laugh erupted from his lips at your action, “god, you’re so cute.”
this is what true love felt like. you knew it then and there. this is what all the characters in romance movies talk about, this is the feeling they try to convey. you understood it now. and it felt amazing.
you pulled away to look at him, “so, we’re like.. dating now right?”
another small chuckle left his lips.
“well, y/n, do you want to be my girlfriend?”, he asked dramatically, taking on the voice of a prince after saving the princess.
it was your turn to burst into laughter, slapping his chest lightly and rolling your eyes.
“you’re supposed to take a moment like this seriously! but yes, i do want to be your girlfriend.”
“good, because there was no way i was letting you go.”, he confessed quietly, a hand coming to hold your face as his thumb stroked your cheek.
you leaned up to capture his lips with yours once again, a small peck before you pulled back. taehyun’s lips tried to follow yours, but you only giggled softly, pulling back more and more.

What it means to be a parasite is to live by someone's validation. You believed you only had the worth of how somebody perceived you. As if you were deemed less, until you were noticed. And you loved selflessly, taking up all the bitterness and returning nutrients in return. You didn't want the love back, nor did you deserve it. You wanted a place to call home. Just like mushrooms growing under the shade of big trees.
One time you wanted to disappear, vanish from the surface of this world. Go somewhere you won't be seen anymore, just to experience if somebody actually needed you. Truly, you just are waiting to be found.
To be found by perhaps the boy named Beomgyu down the streets. Clutching his skateboard tightly every afternoon. The soft glow bouncing on his messy hair, mind full of well.. nothing. No thoughts, no worries. Just enjoying the moment or so it seemed.
Everybody's life is kind of complex. Some are just good at masking. With the boy you realized you could ignore some of the problems. The complexities that come with loving. The responsibilities that you have to be the reason of his smiles.
With him, you could laugh freely. Walk with little conversation on endless of roads. He didn't hurt you, nor demanded your attention. You fell on the concrete pavement by yourself, and it didn't scratch as much. It was a small scar of memories not a deep wound like falling for someone.
You didn't have to look at him constantly, finding every detail and memorizing his habits. You didn't have to try and make him feel better as he never cried. It was peaceful, with him. Having no pain of bidding goodbyes. Whether he'd leave you or not.
He listened to you, things you wanted to say and minutes you wanted to keep the silence. Like venus listening to the stories of moon. It didn't feel as lonely in his presence. Nor was it overwhelming enough to drain your existence.
You didn't need to constantly prove your love for him, and ask him to look at you. He simply sat beside you, counting the stars at sharp 3am, where a river flows nearby. He was cold to touch, brittle nails and a half smile.
One of your favourite things in the world became casual intimacy. A small hand on your back when you're on crowded streets. A gentle kick when you're sitting across from him. A head on the shoulders, a squeeze of your arm when you walked past him, a hand in your hand, staring deeply in your eyes.
Maybe love isn't about grand gestures or explosive displays of love but it's made up of the little things. Maybe love isn't about something eating you away, or the only thing you have to strive by. It's not about taking control over the host, slowly & gradually..tormenting them. You got to meet him, and that's everything.
This feeling is so similar to the feeling I got when I watch the anime "Watakoi Love Is Difficult For An Otaku". I was honestly so stressed about gradually entering the adult world, people always made it seem like you had to have these meaningful jobs or skills or else adult life would be dull and gray. I was honestly so scared because I never thought I had any unique skills or dreams, but watching that anime made me realize that adult life doesn't have to be as glitzy as they say, you can just enjoy life from the small things like spending time with your coworkers, playing video games with your lover, casually going shopping after work or share funny stories at the office.
It made me realize that i never truly wanted that dazzling busy life, I just wanted a simple one with tiny spurts of happy moments. Honestly realizing this made life a little easier for me. Your fic represents those tiny moments so well, and choosing beomgyu for this was a really good decision, he really does kind of embody that slow steady comfort <333
being in my early twenties now without a proper aim, i feel the same. It's the little things of adulting and spending time with your loved ones more valuable than having a stressful busy job. I'm the same because I have head in so many things at once rather than a unique skill. But i'd like it wherever life would take me. Maybe a simpler road, no stress nor that busy would actually fulfil me. I remember watching the live action of wotakoi! I loved it ~~
Thank you soo much for reading ♡♡ yes! Beomgyu is truly the embodiment of it 🩷

☆ 》 summary ー when beomgyu calls you in the middle of the night to go eat out in a nearby convenience store together after he had a rough night and is in need of comfort.
♡ 》 genre!﹒slight angst to fluff, non!idol au, teenage era.
ʬʬ disclaimers﹕sad beomgyu having a rough night, him feeling a little unhappy but you try to cheer him up while you’re both eating ramen.
your phone suddenly rings as it aggressively vibrates on your nightstand. you slightly groan as you rub your eyes, picking your phone up, seeing the caller to be beomgyu.
“beomgyu?” you whispered, squinting your eyes as you raised your eyebrow, seeing him calling you in the middle of the night.. what time is it even? you take a look at your clock saying it was currently 2am in the morning.
you wonder what he is calling you for in the middle of the night, so you pick it up, putting the phone next your ear as you spoke.
“hello—”
“[name].” he called, his voice sounding strained and raspy. there was a second pause before he spoke up again. “i.. i need you right now. can you- can we meet up at our neighborhood’s convenience store? please.” he whispered through the phone, “i’ll explain as soon as you get there, i just.. i need you by my side right now.”
“i’m sorry, i just realized how desperate and clingy i sound—” you instantly cut him off from his train of negativity. “no gyu, it’s alright. i’ll be there in a few, alright? just wait for me, i’ll be as quick as i can.” you tell him as you hear a quiet and short “..m’kay..” on the other line before he hung up on the call.
you quickly turn on your light lamp before heading over to your closet, picking the most comfortable sweater and a pair of parachute sweatpants before taking your phone and heading straight out the door in a rush towards the one and only nearby convenience store he was talking about.
you almost immediately spot beomgyu’s figure sitting outside of the convenience’s store bench, hurled up in a ball shape as you see him hugging his knees. your chest throbbed at the scene, you’ve never seen him that upset for quite some time, not to mention, he’s normally the one who be all cheery and happy-like out of the both of you.
you slowly walk up to him, muttering his name. “beomgyu?” you ask, standing in front of his hurled up figure. “what happened? are you alright?” you questioned, but you knew he wasn’t alright.
you frowned seeing his state, wondering what you could do to cheer him up.
just then, you felt a tug on your sleeve, then the next you were pulled into beomgyu’s chest. “ah, there, there..” you whispered, using your free hand to gently pat his back for comfort.
after a few moments of silence and sniffles, you decided to speak up again feeling the grip of his hug slowly decreasing. “are you feeling slightly better now, gyu?” you felt him slowly nod his head against your shoulder.
“would you like to go inside and take a midnight snack together?” you suggest, hearing his stomach growl. he then slowly nods his head again out of embarrassment. “yes, please.” he whispers, voice still raspy as his arms now loosely hanging around your figure.
“then, let’s go inside and decide what we should eat, yeah?” you smile, taking his hand in yours pulling him along inside. you didn’t miss the genuine smile that slowly started to creep up his lips.
you take him to the ramen section, telling him to pick whatever he wanted to eat because you’d buy it for him, even if he insisted not to; he was the one who invited you to come after all. but you shook it off, telling him you were treating him.
in the end, beomgyu ended up choosing the one he always ended up choosing. you didn’t mind, but you did nudge him to try something new, but he shook his head and said he didn’t like any other flavors other than his favorite one. you playfully scoff and roll your eyes at his choice and he slightly chuckles at your actions.
you both walk towards the checkout with your desired snacks as beomgyu watches you pay for his snacks as well, feeling guilty that you were using your money on him. next time, he promises to take you out and pay for the both of you.
“okay gyu! let’s go boil our ramen now,” you call to him as he quickly glances towards you with raised brows, quickly rushing behind you after he sees you walking further from him. he quickly grabs your free hand before he immediately lets go.
“sorry.” he whispers, but then he sees you offering your free hand to him again. he takes it again with no hesitation, but this time more gentle. he slowly smiles to himself, gently swinging your arm along with his as you both walk to the hot water dispenser.
。 。 。
you watched as beomgyu blew on his noodles in an attempt to cool them down before slurping on them; which didn’t go exactly as planned as he had manged to burn his tongue for slurping too fast.
“be careful gyu.” you giggle, seeing his pout. “gosh, these noodles take forever to cool down!” he mumbles, slightly angry as he puffs his cheeks out. “yeah? maybe be more patient gyu, they’ve just finished fully cooking.”
“but i’m hungryy.” he whines. “you’re too cute sometimes, you know that?” you giggle, missing the way his cheeks slightly flushed red. “i know i am.. no need to tell me twice!” he confidently states.
“hm? what’s that?” you playfully tease.
“hmph.”
“well, you should eat now, hm? you don’t want the ramen turning cold.” she says, taking a slurp of her own noodles. “ah right!” he quickly focuses back on eating, secretly thanking you for distracting him while his ramen cools down.
“[name]..” he says, chewing midway. “tell me when you finish, alright?” you say, taking a sip of your drink.
he playfully scoffs, “yeah yeah, whatever.” he rolls his eyes, taking another slurp of his noodles, pausing midway. “..thank you for cheering me up. ’m thankful.” he mutters, mouth full with food as you smile to yourself hearing his words.
the moment txt members realize there’s romantic potential
members x reader, supposed to be fluffy idk if that gets across ;;
wc: ~1.4k
a/n: basically txt members suddenly feeling a shift in how they feel towards you. you know, that moment where you suddenly see someone in a different light that had always otherwise been platonic. idk what/how to translate that into a proper title lol gender also isn't really specified but longish hair is implied in taehyun's
yeonjun
when a stranger makes you uncomfortable
yeonjun doesn’t seem to be paying much attention to what’s happening with the buzz of the city being his background music as taehyun and soobin try to figure out the directions on the map for your next stop. meanwhile, beomgyu and kai are busy examining the display stand of the antique store you guys have stopped in front of. and it’s only a minute of silence that yeonjun realizes you’ve stopped telling him the rest of your story about that one time you saw a police officer stopping traffic for a momma duck and her ducklings.
when he turns around to look for you, you’re a few feet away talking to a complete stranger. it seems like you’re exchanging a few words with them and yeonjun is about to pull out his phone to do his own thing when he notices the obvious look of discomfort cross your face. it’s not often that he sees you looking like that, much less in a situation where any of the guys are just a shout away.
his reaction is immediate and he’s by your side in a split second, asking you what’s going on. when you fail to give him a direct answer, however, he’s quick to put an arm around your shoulder and automatically guide you back towards the others. he doesn’t forget to turn back to get a good look at the person, tossing them a dirty look before he’s turning back to check on you.
it’s in that moment where you seem a little smaller than you usually do around his arms with a new sense of relief spreading through your shoulders that yeonjun feels a shift in how he sees you. the protective side of him that came out for you so instantaneously is a newfound feeling.
soobin
when you share your jacket with him
you guys have taken a big group trip to mountainside camping for a weekend getaway. everyone’s agreed on taking a hike up to the nearby waterfall and spread out into smaller groups and pairs on the trail there. the sound of chatter and laughter echoes throughout the forest as everyone falls into a natural pace traveling together with a few people drifting between the small groups to socialize.
the front of the group is led by yeonjun while soobin finds himself lingering towards the back, keeping an eye and count on all the heads. beomgyu and taehyun have proceeded to engage in a small argument about what the best part of camping is while you laugh at their individual claims because there’s no way beomgyu actually thinks fishing (with bare hands) is the best part.
and then there’s a sudden yelp that comes from further up the trail catching all of your attention before the silent question of what happened is answered as a sudden downpour of rain comes pelting down on you guys. the reaction is quick as everyone starts running ahead where a large foliage of trees sits offering cover. by the time that you guys get there though, there’s little space left underneath the tree and the rain is drenching those on the edge of the tree.
soobin is squating on the side when he hears your bright voice and turns around to find you only to see you bounding to him with a big smile and your light jacket above your head as you hold it to cover the both of you from the rain. your smile in that moment is immediately imprinted in his memories as he watches you do your best to shield the rain.
beomgyu
when you watch out for him
typically, beomgyu is the one being rowdy on the sidewalks when you guys go out and about exploring the streets of seoul. however, this time it seems the fun bug has gotten it’s hold on kai and yeonjun as they hoot in unison and hop around excited to get to the new arcade that just opened up. and after a long month of begging, everyone finally agreed on a date to check it out together.
beomgyu was definitely excited as well, but he also became invested in a new mobile game that had just been released. during the entire time that you guys had been walking from the place you had dinner to the arcade, beomgyu’s eyes have been glued to his phone, blindly following everyone else’s lead.
you’re lost in conversation with taehyun and soobin about your favorite part of dinner you just had and the next restaurant you want to try out when you notice that beomgyu has walked past you guys. he’s absolutely laser-focused on beating the boss, thumbs rapidly tapping back and forth no longer paying attention to his surroundings. which means, he also doesn’t see the large pole that he’s walking directly into and-
suddenly beomgyu feels a tug on his the sleeve of his sweater, pulling him towards the side. his eyes remain glued to his screen though right before he deals the final blow. it’s only after the boss is officially dead that beomgyu lifts his head just in time to see you let go of his sleeve, chatting away with taehyun and soobin. in slight confusion, he only realizes that you had been guiding him when he turns to see the large pole where he had been headed in seconds ago before feeling his heart skip a beat.
taehyun
when you help him clean up
the basketball team had recently adopted a new policy of making those who were late to practice staying behind to sweep the gymnasium as punishment. the coach had said something about it shaping them up and hopefully teaching them to learn better time management and responsibility considering that habit many of the members seemed to have picked up lately.
this time, taehyun had been the one and only member who had been late after a meeting with his advisor went overtime. so in all technicality, it wasn’t because taehyun had bad time management or that he was irresponsible, it was actually something out of his hand. but alas, he was late and coach takes no excuse. so after practice is done and everyone has already packed up and left, taehyun is left alone to sweep up the entire gym by himself.
or so he thought. because he hears the sound of a bag hitting the bleachers before seeing you stepping onto the ground floor as you start tying your hair back to keep it out of your face. he’s surprised that you’ve stayed behind, thinking that as the coach’s assistant, you would have left with the others. instead, you chirp something about how cleaning up together will be a lot faster than cleaning up alone.
taehyun doesn’t realize why he hadn’t noticed this side of you before this moment. because it’s awfully kind of you to have stayed to help and it’s another to have done so with the energy and optimism you have despite having no obligation to.
hueningkai
when you explain things to him gently
kai doesn’t peg himself as the type of person to shy away from help when he needs it. but he also doesn’t avoid challenging himself to try and understand something by himself first before seeking help if he can. especially because it’s no pressing matter and he has plenty of time to read through his notes and textbook to understand dissecting the poetic prose that’s sitting in front of him.
but after an hour goes by and kai still doesn’t seem to be getting a grasp on what the prose is actually talking about and what he’s supposed to interpret, he starts feeling like he’s at a loss. because the examples from his notes and the textbook turned out to have worked in completely different ways than he expected, and all the searches he’s done online don’t exactly touch on what he’s looking to understand either.
it takes him by surprise when you suddenly ask if he needs help from where you’re seated across the table, peering at what he’s looking at before you move to take a seat next to him. he didn’t realize you had noticed how long he’d been stuck on this assignment. a part of him almost feels embarrassed about it, ready to make a remark but it immediately melts away when you start gently explaining exactly what he was confused about.
when you lean towards him and start highlighting a few things on his papers though, kai finds that his little worries immediately melt away. except for the new one that hangs onto the front of his mind as he gets a whiff of your body mist and realizes he actually really likes the way you smell.
warnings: soob's references reader as "girl", and also maybe a little suggestive
yeonjun ; his kisses are intense. they hold all his emotion, all his feelings that he can't really verbalize. he's the type to back you up against the wall, his hands gripping into your skin with a fervor, murmuring against your lips 'cause he wants you to know how much he wants you. and the way he moves his mouth against yours is near sinful with how passionate he is with it; it's like he's trying to possess you with his actions, his hands grabbing at everything within his reach. and when you pull away, gasping for air, he dips his head into the curve of your neck, letting his teeth bite into the sensitive skin, smiling against your skin before coming back up to capture your lips again <3
soobin ; his kisses are warm. they're the type of kisses that you make you feel like you're at home, like you're exactly where you belong; with him. he's the type to bring you close to him, his nose just barely brushing against yours, his eyes shining while gazing down at you, before pressing his lips firmly against yours, the rough calluses of his palms holding your cheeks in place for him to put all his passion and love behind it. and he's definitely the type to whisper how much he loves you when he pulls away. "my perfect girl, how did i get so lucky?"
beomgyu ; gyu's kisses are half playful, half unbearably passionate. beomgyu's a playful guy, he thinks you're so beautiful when you laugh, he can't help but try to see that pretty smile at any moment he can, but he also cherishes you and he wants you to know it. he's the type to hold your close to him, gazing at you so reverently before he plants little kisses to the square of your jaw, leading them to the corner of your mouth, before pulling away to just to tease you a little bit, just to make you a little needy for him. and he's so pleased when you pull him back in, wrapping your arms around his neck, pulling him so close, so fast, that it almost hurts. and when you finally pull away, breathing hard against each other's skin, he'd give you that shit-eating grin, saying, "you want me that bad, huh?"
taehyun ; taehyun's kisses are very confident. he seems like the type to be very firm in himself, which translates to his kisses being very firm, liking to take the lead. he's the type to back you up against a wall, one hand cupping your cheek, the other planted firmly on the wall beside you. he likes to make you feel small under him, he wants to make you relinquish control to him. and he loves when you grab on his shirt or his arms, squeezing tightly as if you're trying to hold yourself up. and when he pulls away, he likes to bite at your lips, but little nips, sharp enough to make you flinch a little bit; definitely the type to press his thumb against your kiss-swollen lips, pressing down just enough for you to part your lips for him, pressing the digit into your mouth.. omg <3
kai ; his kisses are shy. very sweet and very shy. kai's the type to hold your hand when he kisses you. he likes to lace your fingers with his, giving your hand a reassuring squeeze, the other cupping the apple of your cheek, keeping you close to him. and his touch is so soft. not just his hands, but his lips. they're so soft and plush and gentle, moving slow and languid against yours. his kisses make you feel safe, and, above all, wanted - especially when you pull away and his lips chase yours, eyes still closed, before realizing what he's doing and opening his eyes and laughing breathily, leaning in to brush his nose against yours lovingly.

my delulu behavior has grown stronger ever since soobin got instagram,, enjoy some boyfie!soobin thoughts <3
boyfriend!soobin who holds you close as the two of you watch a movie, glasses slipping down his nose as he drifts off every once in a while,, his chin rests against your shoulder while his long fingers gently trace the soft skin of your stomach under your shirt...his own stomach suddenly growls, and you look back to find him with a sheepish smile before he's asking if you want to go to the convenience store down the road

boyfriend!soobin who stands nearly hip to hip with you as the two of you slurp up the savory noodles, staring out the windows to people watch, making up stories about the people who pass by — who they are, where they're headed, what they're going to do,, it's a habit the two of you have picked up, tucking it between the typical conversations you share...it's a special form of intimacy, quiet and soft, just like him <3

you like to think that your career hasn't soured the taste of love for you, but that's a boldfaced lie.
divorce attorneys bear witness to the worst sides of people, the greedy and the unforgiving and the resentful parts that don't often see the light of day. you try not to be too disheartened by this fact — most of your clients are quite pleasant when they're not in the same room as their ex-lover! a vast majority of them bring you flowers or donuts after their legal woes have been resolved, in fact. however, after watching how your clients' love often degrades into resentment and greed, you've grown somewhat apprehensive of dating in general. the last thing you want is to end up like your clients, so what's the best way to prevent that? well, you think that the answer is to stay single forever; it's easier that way, anyway. you do ache for companionship, but you refuse to set your heart out on the line to achieve it.
while you have established yourself as one of the sharpest and brightest minds in your firm — at a relatively young age, at that — the concept of love is not something that you can pick up a book and learn about with great certainty. in that way, love also intimidates you. there are no cut and dried laws that govern it, no logical reason to its machinations, and that does not agree with you no matter which way you try to twist the idea.
after another long day at work, your hours filled with paperwork and back-to-back meetings with clients, you find yourself trudging along the bustling streets of midtown manhattan towards the nearest subway station. your feet ache inside your heels, and your makeup feels heavy on top of your skin after over ten hours in your workplace. all you want to do is get home, climb into bed, and sleep. you push through another thicket of people, and the sign of the station finally comes into sight. your feet move a bit quicker now, your only goal being to get to the station and head back to your apartment in queens. your focus falters, however, when a loud, masculine scream sounds from the street. sure, the number one rule of new york is to ignore the weird shit and keep it moving, but you're no native to the city; you swivel your head towards the source of the sound—
and watch a man crawling out a manhole nearly get hit by a passing car.
luckily, he ducked back down before the car could actually do any damage. your steps slow down as you watch him skitter across the street, ignoring the jostles that you receive from the rest of the disgruntled crowd. the man finally makes it across the street near where you now stand, after dodging cars and receiving profanities from oh so lovely drivers. frozen in place, you realize how oddly he is dressed. his clothes are straight out of a movie, his princelike attire of bright white trousers and a green, gold-gilded jacket sorely out of place in the sea of gloomy, muted clothing.
"excuse me!" he cries, attempting to stop someone, but the crowd continues to push him along with them. he nearly trips over his own feet as he is shoved backwards. "i was wondering if any of you kind people would be able to help me— ahh!"
as he falls to the concrete, you feel a tug inside your chest. you can't just let him flounder around, distressed and confused. if you don't help him, it's likely no one else will.
shoving your way through the throng of people, you grab his arm, pull him up to his feet, and drag him towards the side of the sidewalk, ignoring his rapid questioning. when you do stop, you finally get a chance to actually look at him up close. tall nose, rich, brown eyes, dark hair that's perfectly styled...beautiful would be a gross understatement when describing him. you shake the thought away. you need to focus and figure out what the hell is going on here.
"are you okay? do you need help getting home?" you ask, albeit a bit tentatively. he perks up at the sound of your voice like a puppy. he doesn't seem drunk, nor high, his eyes clear as he wears a pleasant yet frazzled smile. that soothes your nerves a bit.
"yes, that would be wonderful! though i'm not quite sure how to return home," he says, his smile dropping into a deep frown.
you mirror his expression, confusion coloring your tone as you pull out your phone and open your maps app. "you...don't? is there an address or anything you can give me?"
you quickly learn that he does not, in fact, have an address to give you. he claims that he comes from a land called andalasia, that he's the crown prince, and describes in great detail how he fell down a well and subsequently found himself here. personally, you think that he's insane, but at the the same time, it's hard to picture how he even got beneath the street in the first place.
maybe the multiverse actually is real.
"oh wow, okay. um," you start, "that's— okay."
you internally ponder your next moves. should you just take him to a police station and wipe your hands of him? should you offer to take him with you? he seems relatively harmless despite his tall stature, his eyes full of wonder as he looks up at the skyscrapers and bright lights that surround you with childlike wonder. his cadence is similar to that of a disney prince, but it doesn't sound like a practiced accent. it's natural, oddly natural.
"okay," you sigh. "let's just go to my place, alright? it's late, and both of us don't know to get you back to...andalasia? our best bet is to figure it out tomorrow after some sleep."
"oh, thank you!" he exclaims, bowing deeply. you scramble to urge him to straighten up again, telling him that that's not something you do here. "it's not? do you not subscribe to proper decorum?"
"no, most people don't here. they're, uh, not usually very kind in the first place."
"well, then what of you? you have only shown me kindness."
"i'm..." you trail off. "i'm just me."
he doesn't seem to have a response to that, so you grab his forearm and begin your trek towards the subway station once more. "c'mon, let's go."
after much difficulty in getting him onto the subway and ensuring that he doesn't start talking up random strangers, you finally make it home. it nears midnight by the time you step through the threshold into your apartment, the so-called prince trailing innocently behind you.
"welcome to my humble abode," you joke, slipping your shoes off. "sorry for the mess. i'm not home often."
you turn towards him and his owl-eyed expression, and realize something very important.
"i never got your name," you say, your voice trailing off at the end. he stiffens at this, his hand finding yours while he bows.
"how improper of me! i am prince kai kamal huening the third of adalasia," he declares. you stare at his bowed over form for a moment.
"can i just call you kai?"
days pass, and you find that kai has fit into your life much easier than you first expected — once you got past the summoning of animals to clean your apartment, at least.
it's odd, how the two of you just work. his bright, cheery disposition has breathed new life into your daily routine. he sings, his voice clear and soothing, as he cleans your apartment and helps you cook; he tags along to go shopping and not once leaves your side; and, worst of all for your poor, shielded heart, he doesn't shy away from physical affection. to add fuel to the fire, you actually enjoy it.
you find that you spend less time in the office now that he lives with you. he refuses you allow you to indulge in the unhealthy habits that you have picked up from living alone for so long. no more skipping meals, no more working over the weekends, and absolutely no more averaging on four hours of sleep each night. he, unknowingly, acts so much like a boyfriend that you've begun to feel guilty. he doesn't deserve to be stuck with you and your lackluster lifestyle — he needs someone that can match his shine, that can amplify it. he needs someone that can give him the happy ending that he deserves. he needs a princess, and you are far from one.
what confuses you more is that he has stopped trying to find a way home despite your efforts to help him. deep down, you are a little pleased at this development, but you refuse to allow your selfish desires to win. andalasia is his home, not here.
exactly two weeks after he had popped up in your universe, you're sitting next to him on your couch, trying to unwind after a particularly difficult day of work. kai's head lays in your lap, your fingers carding through his soft hair while you watch a show on the tv — or "magical box," as he likes to call it. instead of the show, however, he is what holds your attention. his eyes sparkle with the light of the tv as another scene flashes across the screen in front of you. though he often opts for a button-up and slacks when out and about with you, he now wears a pair of comfortable sweats and an oversized t-shirt. the whole situation is a perfect picture of domesticity.
with a quiet sigh, you slip your hand out of his hair. he doesn't notice, too engrossed in the show.
"kai," you call, tapping his nose to urge his concentration away from the screen. his gaze immediately finds yours. gently, you ask, "why don't you want to go home?"
his body visibly stiffens, and he looks a bit sheepish at the question. wordlessly, he sits up from your lap. he no longer looks at you, but rather at his lap.
"do you wish for me to go?" he murmurs, dejection coloring his tone. frowning, you reach forward and place your hand on top of his.
"of course not. i just," you sigh, hesitating for a moment. "i'm curious to know why you've stopped trying. this world...it's not the kindest, and living with me can't be that fun. so what's keeping you here? don't you have a princess waiting for you back home?"
"it's you," he whispers, but his words are loud for you to hear.
"m-me?" you stutter. your heart pounds inside your chest, your eyes wide due to his admission. "what do you mean—"
"what i mean," he interrupts, and suddenly his eyes are boring into yours, sincerity and a catious sort of hope swirling in his umber irises. "is that i feel as if i am able to be myself around you. with you, i am not prince kai of andalasia, but simply kai. no princess can rival what you have made me feel in these past two weeks, and i have—" he inhales deeply, his eyes fluttering shut for a moment as he leans closer. his sheepish expression returns. "i have found myself falling for you."
falling? for you? your mouth gapes and closes in a clunky rhythm, thoughts jumbled inside your head, and all you can think to is ask is—
"kiss me, please?"
with a gentle smile, his large hands move to cup your face before he leans in and presses his lips to yours. they're soft, tasting of buttery popcorn. your eyes flutter shut as you grip his wrists, deepening the kiss, only pulling away once you are breathless.
a few silent seconds pass between you. internally, you panic, your hands falling to your lap as you fiddle with them. the thoughts tumble out before you can stop them.
"are you sure that you want me?" you whisper. "i can't give you a castle, or riches. and i'm terribly difficult to love. i'm not used to being loved."
kai's gaze is unwavering as he reaches down to weave his fingers with yours.
"then allow me to show you how easy it is for me to do so."
as he leans in to kiss you once more, you feel the walls that shield your heart begin to crumble.

warnings — descriptions of creepy and threatening behavior, mentions of stalking, descriptions of nightmares. (wc — 2.5k)
You lay back on the soft, cream comforter of your new bed, reflecting on the day's events. Today had been a dragging one– the chore of unpacking boxes, but you had finally settled into the shared apartment. As you gazed around at the newly decorated space, you wondered if you really had completed everything on your to-do list. Yes, you had unpacked everything and put up the decorations just the way you wanted. It seemed like you had taken care of everything. Right? Right.
Felix was out as usual, probably hanging out with his friend Chan, who never seemed to warm up to you the few times you had met in the past. You couldn't help but wonder why Chan was so weird with you. It was as if he knew something about you that you didn't, something that made him untrusting of you. But it was whatever, you supposed, you brushed it aside. At the end of the day, you and Felix had a good relationship with each other, and nothing could change that.
As you continued to just think, you heard some weird noises near the front of the apartment. It sounded like someone was struggling to get in. You realized Felix must have forgotten his keys again. He didn’t do it often, but accidents happen you know. You chuckled at the thought good-naturedly, hopping off the bed to go let him in.
Crossing the threshold into the living room, you marveled at the sleek marble flooring and minimalistic decor. Felix wasn’t one to showcase his wealth, but you knew deep down he just wasn't into decorating. He’d probably let his mom do the decorating when he’d first moved in and never decided to change it. ‘Twas the way of men.
To your surprise, when you opened the door, you found someone unexpectedly standing there, smiling mischievously as if they knew they weren't supposed to be there.
"Hey," Beomgyu said, his eyes sparkling with a hint of something. "So this is where you moved to. Figured you'd come running to Felix. That’s his name right?"
Your heart skipped a beat. "Beomgyu, what are you doing here?" You asked neutrally, trying to keep your composure, but your mind– and heart– was racing. How did he find out where you lived? Why did he come here?
"Is that really important right now?" Beomgyu took a step closer, but you instinctively moved back, seeing a flash of hurt in his eyes before they regained their sparkle. "I'm here! Shouldn't you welcome your guest?"
"Beomgyu—"
"Call me Gyu! I like when you do that," he interjected with a playful grin.
You took a deep breath, trying to make sense of the situation. "Beom— Gyu, why are you here?"
His smile grew wider, and he seemed almost too eager. "I wanted to see you. It's been a while, but I couldn't get you out of my mind. I mean, you never responded to my letter. I know I totally ran out on you, but I meant what I said on that live stream. I love you, YN."
You blinked in disbelief. He couldn't be serious. "Beomgyu, this isn’t right. You can't just show up unannounced like this. It’s basically stalking."
"I wouldn’t have had to if you didn’t block my number. Why would you even do that?" he asked, his eyes searching yours.
Feeling increasingly uncomfortable, you stepped back, your hand on the doorknob. "Beomgyu, please leave. I don't know how you found out where I live, but this is crossing a line."
He stared at you, not speaking, and the sparkle in his eyes sent chills down your spine. How could someone look so blank yet have such bright eyes?
Panicking, you backed away, slamming the door behind you. Now, you were definitely going to run to your room to grab your phone and text Felix for help. There was something strange going on with Beomgyu and you didn’t want to be alone with him anymore. But as you turned around, you froze.
Beomgyu was standing right in front of you, arms crossed, and his eyes no longer sparkled but appeared dark and intense. You’d never seen this look on him before. It didn’t even seem like one he could make! This wasn’t the Beomgyu you knew. At all.
"That was mean," The playful words didn’t match his cold, detached tone one bit. “It’s not nice to slam doors on your guests.”
"How did you–?” Your heart raced as you stumbled backward, hitting the door from the shock of his sudden proximity. Your mind was racing, desperate to find a way out of this hellish encounter. "Beomgyu, please just– go!"
But he didn't move, and the sense of unease and danger intensified. Your heart was almost pounding in your ears. Your eyes darted all over the apartment, trying to summon an exit that would get you distance from the black-haired man in front of you. It’s funny how an apartment that had just become a place of security for you now felt like a confined space as Beomgyu’s dark presence loomed over you.
Nobody spoke, but your previous words hung in the air, haunting the narrative. It was like you and Beomgyu were in a stalemate, the tension building and building. Your breathing had become shallow as your body trembled slightly from fear. The room was incredibly thick with an unspoken threatening aura and you knew something bad was going to happen to you. Helpless and terrified, you squeezed your eyes closed as Beomgyu finally darted towards you.
In your last moments, you screamed.
You found yourself jolting up in your bed, sweat almost drenching your body. You could feel the fabric of your comforter under your tight fists. You pulled your arm up to rest your hand on your heart, drinking in greedy breaths of air you hadn’t known you were lacking. So it was a nightmare? You hadn’t even realized you were asleep. It had felt so… real.
You kicked your feet over the edge of the bed, your unoccupied hand searching around aimlessly for your cell phone. When it was finally found, you quickly typed out a message to your roommate. He read it quickly, and a few short minutes later he was entering your room.
Felix’s warm brown eyes scanned your room, eyebrows creasing in worry when he’d finally found your defeated form. He walked over silently, arms opening as he neared you. You didn’t need to speak, you just let yourself find your way into his embrace. You weren’t crying or anything, but Felix knew you well enough to know when you needed a hug. You let him hold you until you weren’t shaking hard enough to inhibit your speech.
“I’m sorry.” You murmured into his soft, cotton shirt.
“What for?” He replied gently.
“I woke you up, didn’t I?”
“That’s okay,” You could hear the smile in his voice, “I don’t mind. Cause it’s you.”
You smiled a little at that, heartwarming. Your heart had slowed down to a more manageable beat, so you pulled away– missing the warmth as you did. Felix smiled down at you comfortingly before sitting next to you on the bed. His blond hair was messy, indicative of the rest he had just come from, but his eyes weren’t tired. No, it seemed like every time Felix looked at you his eyes became fuller with life.
“Do you want to talk about what happened?” He tilted his head slightly, tone hesitant. “You don’t have to if you’re uncomfortable though.”
“No, I–” You blinked slowly. You felt safe with Felix. “I want to. Cause it's you.”
You spoke candidly, detailing every part of the nightmare you could remember. All the while, you noticed how concerned Felix was becoming, his facial expressions telling a story his mouth was not. When you finished, he turned his torso to wrap his arms around you once more. He rested his head on top of yours, nuzzling you in solace.
“I’m sorry you had a nightmare,” He spoke softly, “You’re safe now.”
“Mm…” You snuggled deeper into his arms. “Thank you for coming.”
The comforting weight of Felix’s body next to yours calmed your mood. His heartbeat grounded you, a steady rhythm that reassured you that you would be alright. His embrace was like a shield, protecting you from the lingering remembrance of the horrors of your nightmare. In moments like these, you realized just how much you relied on your friends and their unwavering support and friendship.
“Of course, you know I’m always gonna be here for you,” Felix whispered, his deep voice a soothing one in the darkness. “Always. You’re never alone when I’m around.”
“Why’re you so good to me?” You murmured mostly to yourself, but he still heard it.
“Well, do you really want the answer?”
“I guess so…”
“Okay,” He took a deep breath, “Ever since we were young I found myself enamored with you. It’s like you were this spark that lit the way for me in a world that was so vast and unknown. Like a guide, in a way. My north star, illuminating the dark path of childhood.
“From the way, you marched to the beat of your own drum, uncaring of how others may have perceived your decisions. You seemed so confident in yourself that it was contagious. You helped me onto the path of self-discovery. Eventually, growing up was so much easier when you were around, it felt like I could do anything with you by my side. You’re kinda the reason why I am the way I am today…”
Felix’s words brought memories of your shared childhood into your mind. Shared laughter, adventures, and secrets whispered flooded your mind. He had always been there, that was true. You couldn’t remember a memory without him somewhere in it. He and Sunoo had been with you almost your whole life. Your memories were treasured close to your heart, evidence of the connection between you three.
He sighed as if he was going back and reliving those moments as well. He pulled away from you to finally look you in your eyes as he spoke on. “You know, I had a feeling I liked you when we were kids but it was only until we were teenagers that I knew for sure.”
“Knew what?” You whispered softly, curious.
“That you were– are– my first love. I know we never got to the part where we said those three words when we were dating, but believe me, I knew the whole time. That’s what made breaking up so hard… But, I knew in my heart that we’d always be friends. That I’d be happy. Because our bond runs deeper than romantic love. It’s just love, in general. That’s why I’m here for you. Because you were for me, all along.”
His admission brought warmth to your face and tears to your eyes. You knew Felix cared about you, but you didn’t know it ran as deep as you’d just learned. And as your thoughts ran through your head: you knew you felt the same way. Felix was your first love too… And to an extent? He still was the only man you ever loved. Beomgyu came to mind for a second, but you weren’t thinking about him right now. It was all Felix.
“You know, YN, I’m sorry.” Your eyes widened in confusion.
“Why’re you sorry?”
“Cause,” He let out a soft chuckle, “I shouldn’t have let you go. I shouldn’t have broken us apart. I know you told me that it was fine and that I should just go, but I shouldn’t have. We could’ve figured something out, we always did before. I don’t know what made the last time so different.”
You took a deep breath, mulling over his sudden confession. You didn’t know he regretted what had happened between the two of you. You had always called it an amicable split after all. Turns out you’d been wrong. He didn’t want to break up. You’d thought you were doing the best for him, but really?
You thought back to the day you two had played games together. It was after you had that disagreement with Beomgyu and Felix called to cheer you up. You had thought back on your relationship then too but pushed it aside to save your friendship. You had made so many mistakes… Your heart was heavy with regret and enlightenment.
“I thought it’d be better off that way…” You admitted, biting your lip softly. “You’re right though, we would’ve found a way… I just made some bad judgment.”
“And that’s okay.” Felix assured you kindly, “You’re human.”
The two of you sat in silence for a while. There was a weight of unspoken emotions and feelings lingering in the air. This conversation had gotten heavy, but… Not in a bad way? But there was something you were mustering up the courage to ask your friend.
You whispered softly, your heart beating loudly in your chest. “Do you still love me?”
“Of course I do,” Felix answered immediately, no hesitation or lies in his words. “I’ve loved you for so long I don’t think I could ever stop loving you.”
“Yeah,” You felt relieved, knowing he felt that way. “Me too… I don’t think I could ever stop loving you either, Lix. You’re… You’re my first love too.”
At that moment, you realized the bond between you and Felix ran deeper than just platonic or romantic. It was a mature love, cultivated by understanding and time. An unbreakable connection that could stand the test of time. It was like your story with each other was far from over, rather it was just beginning.
You and Felix stayed nestled together for some time after that, talking rarely. Your conversation had said enough for tonight. His presence filled the silence enough, and soon you were able to fall asleep again. When you were snoozing peacefully, Felix tucked you in gently. With a small kiss on your forehead, he smiled to himself before leaving to retire in his own bed.
