« Knight had taken a young boy hostage and was threatening him with the knife. She was disarmed when police attacked her with brooms and was admitted to the Morisset Psychiatric Hospital. »

For those who don’t believe in non-lethal police interventions, Australian police intervened with BROOMS to arrest a woman who had attacked another woman, stole her car and kidnapped an 11 yo boy. That was in 1976 in Scone, Australia.
Learned the other day that infamous serial killer Rodney Alcala studied filmmaking under infamous child rapist and director Roman Polanski at New York University and boy oh boy were the 70s an amazing time to be a misogynist criminal!
True crime documentary narrator: The murder of Mary-Beth Jo Beth was a shocking event for this small town.
Small town person: We are such tight knit community! Nothing bad ever happened in our town!
Small town person: Except that time Bill was shot in broad daylight
Small town person: And when a drifter murdered Susan
Small town person: Also that crazy child abuse case 15 years ago
Small town person: And the fact that the police will go after you no matter what, if you’re poor or Black.
Small town person: Who could’ve imagined this happening to Mary-Beth Jo Beth???

French police when the window of a HSBC bank is broken during a Yellow Vests protest (November 2019)
(Tweet says: « Police technicians are picking up evidence that will help the investigators identify the perpetrators and prosecute them for deterioration of shops and public property in Place d’ Italie »)
Responsible True Crime Culture is being torn between “Joaquin Phoenix would be amazing playing Ted Bundy 😀” and “We don’t need ANY more movies glorifying misogynistic murderers 😬”
1970’s women: *murdered by horrible men while hitchhiking*
1970’s police: Women should avoid hitchhiking
1980’s women: *murdered in their homes by horrible men*
1980’s police: Women should not live alone

TW: HOMOPHOBIC VIOLENCE BY LAW ENFORCEMENT (AND PEAK 1970s POLICING)
That time in Australia in 1972 when serial killer/child murderer/pedophile Bevan Spencer von Einem saved the life of a gay man who was assaulted and almost murdered by the police.
The police officers were never charged because of « lack of evidence » ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
💯💯💯💯 policing right there 👌 (highlighted parts)
1970’s cop: Chief I’ve heard there’s some kind of predator in the neighbourhood who sexually assaults women, there’s some fear he could do even worse.
1970’s commissioner: This is definitely not a priority and women lie all the time.
[5 months later]
1970’s cop: Chief it appears our predator is now murdering women.
1970’s commissioner: Mmh this is bad, I wonder if there’s a way this could have been prevented??? ?? ??
Serial killer: *murders people*
1970’s police investigating the murders:
Serial killer: I murdered 8 women because I hate my mom.
1970s cop: Seems legit
Serial killer: Also I like dressing up as a woman.
1970s cop: Now that’s just wrong
Victim: *is stabbed to death*
Suspect: *is found with a bloody knife near the crime scene*
Suspect: Oh this? I just really enjoy bloody knives, it is my passion.
1970’s cop in a documentary: We had a suspect back then but he told us he was a fan of bloody knives so we believed him. We were all shocked to find out he was actually the North East Butcher. Who could’ve seen that coming???
Serial killer: *murders gay men*
1970’s cops investigating gay bars to find the murderer: YES HELLO I AM VERY STRAIGHT COULD YOU, HOMOSEXUAL MEN, TELL ME WHO’S MURDERING YOU NO HOMO MY EYES ARE UP THERE THAT’S IT YOU’RE UNDER ARREST FOR BEING GAY
1970’s cops back at the station: Man it’s so weird that the gays won’t cooperate with us
Average people with some true crime knowledge: BTK = Bind, Torture, Kill
1970’s cop: BTK = Bacon, Tettuce, Komato
