You know how in the war arc Naruto and Sasuke were rocking their signature outfits while Sakura, one of the three main characters of the show, was only given a basic NPC military uniform? That's one way to distinguish a literal main character from background characters...
I've given Sakura justice and redesigned her jonin outfit. I based it off her concept art outfit.
See, I was never a fan of Sakura when I first watched the show. Now that I know how much the author had struggled with writing women, though, I believe they deserve a lot more love.
Sakura is not the only character I want to improve; and I'm not only talking about the outfits. I'm in the middle of making an AU in which the entire storyline is rewritten and improved (incredibly canon complaint).
Omg, this looks absolutely amazing! Been meaning to leave a review of this since I first laid eyes on it! I am a big Sakura fan (but I get she's not for everyone), and I super-duper appreciate you trying to give her a new outfit!
Those fishnet armor looks so ❤️🔥 under her vest! And that armor on her left arm!! I bet with those knuckles combined with her super human punches, she'd probably do even more damage even if held back! 🤩 is the medical symbol inside her family crest or is her family crest somewhere else??
I'm still learning to draw and drawing characters with that hip cocked position is so hard. Giant kudos to you for making it look so seamless and also adding more character to her design rather than having her stand up straight.
Love the addition of something similar to her medic apron, but elongated. Not to mention how you placed her hitai-ate around her waist instead, which makes sense that she might move it somewhere other than her head to show off her well-earned byakugou! Also, I am definitely more partial to her boots (but only because I personally love boots 🤣), but appreciate the practical look with the sandals you designed for her. It's also so stylish with her pants tucked into them.
Everything about her looks so lovely! Even her expression is awesome, looking so cool and badass. Was this completed more by traditional medium? Water color? Colored pencils? 🤩 it's amazing all the vivid colors you'd put in

I've got to admit I forgot about her family crest but I think somewhere around her pockets would be a nice accent spot to put it. I wanted to pair longer pants with the shorter shirt to make it look a bit heavier, "cooler", so yeah, her gorgeous boots had to go.
When it comes to the pose - I look up references, and exaggerate them a bit to add some flow! I used pencils, then used a pen for line art (I don't know what it's called specifically but I got it from like office supplies) and then used a few layers of coloured pencils to colour her! My phone takes really bland pictures so I had to turn saturation up a notch so it looks more like the original on paper.

I'm growing a soft spot for Sakura and like her more every time I think about her and her storyline, and how much potential it had that the author failed to use. I'm definitely going to continue giving her some sweet treats ! 🩷🌸
So I was unhappy with Naruto's adult outfit as well. Why did they give him a buzz cut? 🖐😔
Anyway, here is a redesign. I was mostly inspired by his pain arc outfit (aka his best outfit smh) with the flames and the summoning scroll. I love how he looks like with his bangs down so I also placed his headband/protector elsewhere. Added a cute little fox tail keychain to symbolise Kurama in his belly. Yum! I also made his hair longer (I really hate the buzz cut), aiming for something similar to Minato and Jiraya (with the little ponytail? You see the vision?)
You already know that Sasuke is next on my redesign hit list. Check out Sakura if you haven't seen her redesign yet! I'm really proud of her!
