Adieu...

It's been quite a long time since the fandom worked together on the No Control Project, creating a fandom-wide initiative to gift the song on iTunes to others.

1DSponsorships was officially created with the Perfect Sponsorships, and I got involved to bring in automated processes so that nobody had to manually go through and match/email folks.

It's been quite a wild ride since then, covering MITAM and the solo eras. Just Hold On sponsorships definitely stand out, with Louis retweeting us.

The participation in this round was absolutely unbelievable, courtesy of this amazing fandom and Louis’ tweet. I laugh thinking of when we were begging for people to take a free copy because we had so many copies available. This was the biggest sponsorship round by far.

We had over 11.8k copies available, and over 17k people request a copy. We sent out 11.3k copies to people in 55 countries.

Yeah, wow!

Over the years, the fandom has changed, gifting/charting rules have changed, streaming has grown, the other members have moved on from the project, etc. Participation in sponsorships has severely dropped off over the years, several going without any donated copies. I think we’ve even missed a few that nobody has noticed. From the beginning, we said we would do sponsorships as long as the fandom wanted us to. With the past few sponsorships, I think it’s reached that point, and I didn’t want to leave the blog seemingly abandoned. It’s time to make it official.

So with that, I’d like to say a special thank you to everyone who has been involved with sponsorships in any way, but especially those that gifted songs/albums to others. This project would have never existed without y’all.

How fast does it take for your sign up status to update? I signed up for and it’s not saying I’m signed up, and I did it so fast to get a place in line I’m worried maybe I could have typed my email wrong since it’s not showing up

Should be just about instant! 

Make sure you’re not getting confused with the part that says you haven’t been matched yet. 

I haven’t run the matching code yet, so it should say that "You have signed up.” (and give you a number, but keep in mind that that number is for everybody and not just your country) and that you haven’t been matched to a sponsor yet.

If you’re still not seeing what you expect, then I’ll need your email to look it up. You can either send it on anon here and I’ll answer or in tags, or as a regular ask so I can reply in private, or you can msg me @beccasafan
