"You look like you definitely need help getting there." He told her, frowning slightly. "Let me help you."
“Of course.” He grinned. “Why do you think I carry a sword?” He asked, gesturing towards the sword hanging on his side.
Adeline’s eyes widened, and she looked around to see the sword he was carrying. “And I was cutting into the watermelon with a butter knife,” she chuckled. “But that’s so cool; who taught you how to use it?”
"Do you want me to finish cutting it?" He asked with a laugh. "And I taught myself. I also made it myself."
Lana bit her lower lip as she started to feel extremely dizzy. She placed a hand on her forehead and took a deep breath. There was only one reason why she would get this dizzy all of a sudden. She needed blood. She was a bat after all and not a fruit bat. Food could keep her going for a while, but eventually she would need to drink blood. She stood up from her seat and started to head to the nurse’s office since they keep a supply for her. As she opened the door to walk out of the cafeteria, she bumped into someone and almost fell over. “I’m sorry, so sorry.” She mumbled looking up at them.
"It's fine, don't worry about it." Jason told her as he reached out to steady her. "Are you okay?"
“Very cold.” He said sarcastically. “It was a desert. The story kind of tells itself; bandits, little food, little water.”
Adeline was about to open her mouth when she heard that, shooting him a look. “Don’t sass me,” she retorted, sticking her tongue out. “Well that…seems unpleasant, I’m glad you’re okay,” she replied simply. “Have you been near a bandit? And I grew up in a forest, so pretty much the opposite thing for me.”
"Of course." He grinned. "Why do you think I carry a sword?" He asked, gesturing towards the sword hanging on his side.
“I tend not to question things.” He said, shrugging. “Living in a desert most of my life, I don’t ever say no to free food.”
“All right then,” she said, turning on the blender. It happened to be a silent one, so she could still hear the boy’s words. “You lived in a desert? How did that go?”
"Very cold." He said sarcastically. "It was a desert. The story kind of tells itself; bandits, little food, little water."
“The ground of course.” He said. “Isn’t that where people normally find things?”
“Not amazingly intact watermelons,” she retorted, piling the pieces into a blender. “I mean I’ll believe you, just you have to admit it sounds quite far fetched.”
"I tend not to question things." He said, shrugging. "Living in a desert most of my life, I don't ever say no to free food."
Jason grinned at her. "Thanks, that means a lot. Don't worry though, if I leave, I'm taking you with."
He raised an eyebrow. “Halloweentown? Sounds interesting. What’s it like?”
“It’s interesting, yeah,. It’s basically the place where Halloween is organized. It’s kinda dark and it’s pretty much always autumn, or at least I think so. It’s usually pretty busy, too, especially in October.” He would say he missed the place, but with what was back there waiting for him, he couldn’t.
"That sounds pretty interesting." Jason told him, interested. "How do you get there?"
He laughed. “Good. There’s better ways to have an adventure than literally raising Hell.”
Hikari laughed as well. “I’m always up and looking for an adventure.” Her eyes turned to the window. “Nothing much has happened in a while. I would love to feel that kind of spirit again. I live for it.”
"I know what you mean." He replied, sighing. "There's a lot of times when I miss being out on my own, even though I've met a lot of great people here."
“Found it.” He said casually, grinning charmingly.
“Where?” she asked, still frowning as she noted his smile.
"The ground of course." He said. "Isn't that where people normally find things?"
He laughed. "Good. There's better ways to have an adventure than literally raising Hell."
“I’ll keep that in mind.” He replied. “Of course, I don’t see any reason why I’d antagonise you anyway.”
“I would hope not, unless you lived in Halloweentown and I preyed on you without me realizing it,” he said with a laugh.
He raised an eyebrow. "Halloweentown? Sounds interesting. What's it like?"
Jason grinned. “Well then, be lucky you didn’t try and rob me.”
“Believe me, I usually didn’t try to rob people. Only if they did something to me first, so it was kinda like an eye for an eye.”
"I'll keep that in mind." He replied. "Of course, I don't see any reason why I'd antagonise you anyway."
“She thought about it for a moment and shook her head. “Nah, that should be okay.” She murmured
"Okay." He said, grinning. "Now where do we go to swim?"
“Well then they shouldn’t have left it there.”
“You don’t just take things.”
"You do when it'll be wasted otherwise."
Jason nodded slowly. “Okay… Then why are you experimenting with stuff to do with the scary sounding place?”
“Curiosity. It’s not like I’m going to open the thing. Heck no. My dad went through enough trouble trying to close t the first time. I’m not going to open it. It’s just a theory my friend Lita and I came up with over spring break. I wanted to see if it was true. And it was.”
"Well please don't open any gates to hell or anything, okay?" Jason said, laughing nervously. "Accidental or otherwise."
Jason nodded slowly. "Okay... Then why are you experimenting with stuff to do with the scary sounding place?"
