Ok biggest thing in my au is NO ONE TREATS DANGER DUCK LIKE GARBAGE srsly the team learns to take his feelings into consideration. There's no double standards going on. Because one problem I have with LU was how Danger was the designated asshole even in situations where he wasn't. Or other characters namely lexi and ace were just as capable as messing up but nearly weren't called out or punished for it as Danger. So that's the big thing with my AU Danger isn't the team Jerk he has actual good points that the entire team respects.
How egotistical do you have to be to argue with a teacher whose whole job is to teach you history and think you know better. This happened months ago but every time it comes in my head I can't help but get angry.
During my American History period we were learning about how the government displaced Japanese Americans from their homes and my teacher was comparing them to concentration camps and this kid says they don't count cause nobody died. And how the government shouldn't be paying the families who lost their businesses because of this, and how much I wanted to scream at him but I was to scared to come off as too woke and caring to much. Not to mention the teacher probably saying "I don't need your help on this." But oh my God I hate that guy with a passion. I hate the world we are in and I just hate having to be scared of what could happen to my family just because they came here to get a better life.
Iām gonna be so blunt, I actually despise how infantilized a good deal of the minibots are.
Kinda long ish so Iām shortening it for ease of scrolling, itās under here ā¤µļø
Most often itās Bumblebee and Cliffjumper because theyāve got widely agreed to be cuter designs than other minibots and also often times interact with the main typically teenage human cast of the series theyāre in, but Iāve definitely seen it done to others and sometimes unfortunately in the media itself (we do not talk about Tailgateās holoform design)ā save for characters like Gears or Huffer or something where the fandom seems to view them as too old or ugly or unimportant for this kind of treatment.
But itās just so extremely tiring to see some decent fanart or fic or something and all of a sudden who should be maybe a human equivalent of like a 18-25 year old is being treated and portrayed by everyone else and the narrative like a poor innocent baby toddler. I hate it especially though for the reasons that I suspect people do this.
Fandom seems to have this problem where if a character is in anyway whimsical or hopeful, or heck sometimes even other forms of energetic at all, theyāre considered a child. It is childish and naive to be happy. It is childish to be passionate or determined. Adults are supposed to harden up and stagnate. Welcome to the real world, bucko. Itās a very boring take on people and age in general.
And then thereās the other obvious reason: the characters are short. This is just a particular peeve of mine as a short person, but ya know hi hello I am an adult at the great numbers of 4 foot 11 inches hello fandom hi. But it could get into some other conversations about how people treat people with say dwarfism or other conditions or reasons for a short heightā conversations that Iām personally just mentioning and not going into further because Iām fully aware Iām not an expert and donāt feel comfortable speaking on topics Iām not qualified for.
Another reason is the positioning of other characters being āaboveā them, stuff like Optimus Prime being very ādadā coded towards the Autobots and sometimes very outright considering Bumblebee like a son, and this one just comes from fandom not really knowing how to handle dynamics beyond a family unit. Or even family units outside of the stereotypical. Like if Optimus is ādadā, that means Bumblebee (Cliffjumper sometimes included) need to be ākidsā, which means child and tada weāre infantilizing them so they fit that role better. This then also gets translated to anyone older than them is now āparentā and now theyāre behaving comedically 5 years old while being active participants in war ššš.
Somewhere in here you could fit something about the general social obsession with youth and how older looking or acting minibots donāt get this treatment and are therefore ignored and also the possibility of Optimus Prime just being old enough to reasonably have adult children is not even considered, but idk how to articulate all that.
I guess I could also say something about how Cliffjumper often times gets his personality sanded down or entirely removed in favor of being more child-like when this happens because him being paranoid, clearly stricken with war ptsd, and a rough and tough guy doesnāt mesh well with the little baby depiction people want based on his cuter, more Bumblebee like design, which defeats the purpose of having both of them for anything other than āawww theyāre twins now! And oneās sweet and the other one has temper tantrums! How adorable!ā
Like whatever ok most of this is bullshiting and speculation on why this phenomenon happens, but the takeaway hereā I donāt like it! Itās annoying! Itās a little infuriating sometimes! Bumblebee and Cliffjumper are young adults, they wouldnāt even be combatants if they werenāt! Theyāre characters with complicated personalities of their own and they donāt need to be shoved into the Little Baby box all the time!
Alsoā please take some interest in the other minibots! Gears, Huffer, and Brawn have some interesting things going on in the Marvel comics (Iāve been reading them lately, itās cool, Huffer makes friends with a random truck driver over mutual homesickness and Gears briefly gets along with Spiderman and isnāt a dick to himā)!
I watched The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window like a few months ago and because the only thing I see when I search it up is just being about how it's yaoi and stuff and I suck at understanding stuff I need to know,
I saw the anime as a representation of how different people process trauma, like each character representing different coping mechanisms and I need to know if I am so far off or if that is what the story is about. I have not read the manga, just the anime. I don't care if I look like a dumbass, I just want to know.
Something I'll always love about Beyblade is how diverse it is. People from different backgrounds and nationalities coming together over spinning tops is pretty cool. I remember me and my brother being super excited to see the Beigoma club going to Mexico even if it was to go inside a human trafficking situation to find their missing friend.
When I got registered for my middle school they put my gender as male. I kind of wish I kept it like that. Tho I feel like my highschool would change it back because of the locker rooms.
