"Leading"??? Worship

Ever since I was able to stand up and rock back and forth I’ve been serving in music ministry in one capacity or another as either a choir member, worship leader, accompanist or Minister of Worship & Arts (aka Worship Pastor).  In light of the fact that I happen to be one of those people that likes to analyze things I’ve been thinking about worship leadership from all aspects.  Why do some approaches work while others don’t?  Why do certain songs, runs, riffs, or chords incite emotion in some while others seem completely unfazed?  What can I do as a leader to create an atmosphere in which those who seem disconnected become engaged?  How can I make sure that those who are “unchurched” or out of there “comfort zone” feel safe to worship freely in during our services.  How can I assure the fact that the focus of our team members worship and service is “VERTICAL” and not “HORIZONTAL”???

Since I’m in a sharing mood I just thought I’d share a few of my observations over the next few posts :)….stay tuned…more to come!

1.)  MEMO: God is already here…..(whispering) “He’s Omnipresent…everywhere.

Over the years I’ve grown weary of hearing people beg for the presence of God to "COME IN”.  "Lord send your glory, Send your power Lord, Send your presence Jesus" All the while not realizing that Jesus said, that “wherever two or three gather in His name” He’s there (Matt. 18:18-20).  (also see Psalms 22).  Whether we experience His presence is not about begging Him to come…honestly…It’s about us showing up ourselves with an expectancy(faith) and sincerity(a pure motive).  Essentially the act of worship cannot be categorized as natural or unnatural but Supernatural.  We must keep at the forefront of our minds that while God does see and appreciate the aesthetic(skill and texture) beauty of our offerings…He’s really more concerned about the condition of our hearts in worship…God truly honors 1.) Expectancy - i.e. faith,  He loves when we approach worship speaking in “Already” terms. Instead of saying “God send your presence, anointing” let’s try “God we thank you for your (or honor) presence”.  By doing this you convey to God that you BELIEVE and TRUST Him to be faithful concerning every promise.  And just like in any relationship the strength thereof lies in the degree of trust between both parties.  So let us pose this question to ourselves this week.

1.) Do I trust God enough to worship Him without any inhibitions?

As you approach your times of worship both corporate and private lets approach with a vulnerable expectancy! Earnestly seeking God for something new!!! I’ve tried this and have experience his glorious manifestation in my life.
