colored the fusion varia suit art same as the sprite for funsies!

I find the discrepancy between the sprite, cut scene, and art appearances very curious. anyway, love the sprite and wanted to try my hand at translating the coloring :) block colors & examples below cut

seeing the cut scene and guidebook art side by side, the colors are more consistent than I thought - the cut scene suit is merely in shadow. though, I still think the guide art pulls way too yellow. the sprite strikes a yellow-green balance with a green base and bright chartreuse highlights. the sprite's most significant deviation is the orange highlights on the fuchsia underlayer. the orange, in combination with the purple shadows, creates a beautiful rainbow look.

I actually like the cut scene suit just fine - fuchsia and chartreuse are complementary colors after all (snot suit my ass) - but I wonder what decisions led to the sprite looking so different.

I oddly like how clear it is in this concept art that Adora has an hourglass figure (with long ass legs) while Glimmer and Catra have pear figures with longer torsos. Also, Glimmer has a shorter chest with a longer abdomen, whereas Catra has the opposite.

obviously these aren't the final designs, but the proportions carried over. it's something I try to keep in mind while drawing them — I'll accidentally give Catra an hourglass or Adora a pear shape, and then I have to go back and adjust :P

okay but legitimately asking, all the lateral pelvic tilt examples have the high hip and low shoulder on the same side rather than my high-high and low-low build. I assume that's because my issue is skeletal rather than muscular?

I don't think I've played enough games to answer this question fairly. I found Metroid Fusion surprisingly gorgeous, and Hollow Knight and Silksong are stunning, of course. Alas, I haven't played the last two. I've only watched my sister play.

hmmm. I guess playing Breath of the Wild made me feel like Link when I ate my daily lunch of two eggs, an apple, and toast in college. it certainly made me more eager to nourish myself. does that count?
