so updates because i called it a night on my paper: not only do i have to do research on salk, sabin, and the vaccine for my thesis and this theoretical fanfic, but i would also suddenly have to dive into japanese-canadian internment too to make it period accurate??? GAH

seeing a shift in korean culture and i think it’s beautiful. seeing kpop demon hunters utilize traditional singing in their soundtrack AND performing it on a stage as huge as the oscar’s. now bts with their new album and arirang.

kpop and korean pop culture is unfortunately notorious worldwide for appropriating other cultures, primarily african american hip hop and street culture, so to see them go back and feel pride in their own cultural roots is beautiful.

disclaimer: i don’t think this is at all a redemption from all the appropriation of the past, it should still be acknowledged and they should still be held accountable for it. however, it will always be amazing to see poc find their roots again and show pride in it.
