About 5 or 6 people that I follow on Tumblr were all over the Dame “Charm School” demo when it first came out on Bandcamp few weeks ago, but it didn’t really sink in with me right away. Now that I’ve seen them I ‘get it’ a lot more, and it’s making my brain cells throb pretty good right now.

With Not Dead Yet 2015 just over a couple months away (October 22-25), there is no better time than now to share with you the latest update. We spend all year poring over demos and records from around the world, not to mention travelling to see bands as much as we can, so that we can bring you a lineup that we believe represents some of the best that’s going on in global punk and hardcore right now. We’re very excited to add one of the meanest bands in Europe, ORDEN MUNDIAL, along with DESTRUCTION UNIT, who will be celebrating the record release of “Negative Feedback Resistor.” We’ve also got Australian Power Violence Mainstays EXTORTION and one of Mexico D.F.’s best kept secrets, ZOTZ. And that’s just a sampling on top of what we’re already offering including TITLE FIGHT, UNA BESTIA INCONTROLLABLE, POWER TRIP, RIXE and so much more. If you can believe it, in the next week, we’ll have more to announce. Look out for a number of shows around the city of Toronto, art shows, a record swap, a discussion on punk documentation with Hardcore Encyclopedia Damian Abraham, Tony Rettman and others, as well as another Parts & Labour matinee. Keep an eye out for the full schedule and tickets!

KILO’s vet bill is a lot higher than I can afford. He got some treatment on a skin infection which was a result of his bad allergies and constant reoccurring yeast infection in his skin. he got mild surgery to drain a big old Hematoma that was caused by the irritation. he will have a 3 week recovery time because he has a tube in to allow his wound to drain, then he has to go back in a week or so to get the tube out. I’m happy he’s okay though, I guess it could’ve been worse, but damn. I’m trying to raise money to pay for his vet bill by making/printing/selling these shirts.

All Roads Lead To Red: A Pedal Steel Mixtape / Tribute
Pedal steel ace Orville “Red” Rhodes (1930-1995) was one of LA’s most in-demand session players during the late 1960s and early 1970s, lending his laid-back licks to hits by James Taylor, Linda Rondstadt, and The Carpenters. But Red was more than just a sideman. He was a band leader, fronting the house band at North Hollywood’s legendary Palomino Club between 1966 and 1969. He was an inventor, building custom amps and “Velvet Hammer” pickups out of his Royal Repair Shop on the corner of Cahuenga and Hollywood. And he was a good time: according to his most frequent musical collaborator, former Monkee Michael Nesmith, Red “smoked more dope than any man I knew.”
The 21 songs on this mix showcase Red Rhodes’ virtuosity and versatility, highlighting the role his unmistakeable tone played in defining the LA country rock sound.
