Just a little ramble since im feeling sentimental

This game means a lot to me. I was a young, lonely queer dude who just got stuck indoors for the year when i discovered it in 2020 (like many other fans i assume). I had realized shortly after being quarantined that i am queer, and didn't know where to look to find other people like me. This game was pretty much my first exposure to communities where I am not the exception to the rule, or a nusiance for "injecting" my queerness into the media i consume. And what a wonderful experience that was! When i played it, i felt like it was a game that was actually FOR me, for the very first time. When i looked to the fans for that same joy, they delivered. They were just as excited to be happy as I was, and that spurred me on to become an artist.

It wasnt a single revolutionary moment like i might be making it out to be, but thats what all the little daily joys added up to. This game and its fandom was something i looked forward to participating in every day, during a time of intense loneliness for not just me, but everyone in the world. Quarantine was tough, and this was the game that got me and many others through it!!

It's hard to summarize in one post how it helped me, but i think most other fans can agree: Smile For Me is a game about little amazing weirdos being happy, and that's exactly what most of us needed to see as lost, unhappy weirdos. I love the little weirdos in this game, and the weirdos i met in the fandom, and i appreciate the genius weirdos behind the game for giving me the opportunity to learn how capable i am of being a happy person.

Im reading Perfume by Patrick Süskind right now, its really good. While it IS a very uncomfortable/disturbing book, my favorite scenes are the ones where the characters also happen to be really funny.

SPOILER WARNING!!!

I love that the main character has a dedicated chapter where, upon finally finding true peace, he does his own VERY unique version of "standing in the shower and rehashing arguements you had weeks ago, but in this imaginary version, you successfully tell them off instead of just standing there awkwardly". Not only does he do this repeatedly, he does it for 20 hours a day in a pitch black cave for god knows how long. I wouldnt dare call him relatable but i felt that so hard
