Offbeat Transports Of India
India is a country with unique & rare types of transports apart from the regular ones (like bus, train, cars etc.)
So next time when you come to India, do look out for such offbeat travels. Am sure you are going to love them.
Handpulled Rickshaws & Trams
These two kinds of transport, namely hand pulled rickshaws & trams are only found in a city called Kolkata/Calcutta, the capital of the eastern state of India, West Bengal.
India is full of rivers from north to south and east to west. So, we have boats of all sizes & shapes to cross over to the other side.
Camel is the only mode of transport in the deserts of India.
Horse carts are very common in smaller towns of India in comparison to the bigger cities here.
Elephants can be seen in the royal state of Rajasthan located in the northwestern part of India where you can visit a fort sitting on top of an elephant.
Also, elephants at temples is commonly found in South India.
Elephants are also used for jungle safari, joy ride at tourist spots and you can also feed & bathe elephants at elephant camps found in the southern parts of the country.
Such beautiful boathouses with all amenities can be spotted down south in the state of Kerala where one can stay for days together and enjoy a peaceful boatride in the backwaters of the state.
Chariots were mainly used by the royal families in the bygone era. Here I am standing beside some huge chariots at Kishangarh Palace in Rajasthan, India.
These days they are mainly used at the weddings.
Bullock carts are a common sight in almost all the rural areas of India, a handy mode of transport for people as well as goods.
These are coracles, a crude form of boat & circular in shape.
These are used to transport commodities, sheep, goat, locals & tourists from one place to another.
These are mainly found in the state of Karnataka in India & have been used since ages.
India is the largest producer of the three wheeler autos in the world and this convenient transport is found all over the country - from north to south & east to west in almost all the cities & towns. They are used to cover only short distances.
Well, I am on the move again, my dear friends.
This time I am on a streamer travelling to yet another shore; would be exploring the bylanes of a new city; the culture of the place, cuisine, festivals & in the process would make some new friends all over again.
Sometimes the road is bumpy; the weather bad; the journey long & tiring, yet I would say life on the whole is beautiful; full of travels, surprises, discoveries & sunshine dotted with rain, storm & thunder from time to time.
I somehow prefer to take the road less travelled and of course have miles & miles to go before I get to rest.
On that note, here's wishing you a very happy weekend, my dear friends & see you soon 🙌🤗
