Man, there's something a bit depressing about the way I generally see people talk about The Witch's Banquet short story. Most of the time I see it mentioned it's just used to point out that Kainé is intersex, which on its own is fine. What gets me is people talking about it as if it's purely for shock value or making lewd comments and exaggerating the extent of the frankly brief description of her genitalia. It's like the only thing they can focus on is the fact she has a penis and jerks off in it.

To me, it's such an incredibly sad story. I rarely see people point out that it's not Kainé who's in control during the "reveal" but Tyrann. The implication is that he takes over her body after killing sprees to relieve himself. This is another way that Tyrann tortures her. When the priest runs away, Tyrann laughs while Kainé cries. Thinking about Kainé having her body abused by such a vile being, literally using her to get off on murder, is gut wrenching. It's a form of sexual abuse and one that she endures so much that she knows to hide herself away before it happens in an attempt to not disturb her guest. It just makes me disappointed to see the way people so often talk about it, dismissing the deeply painful situation she's in to gawk at her body.
