Fasting Tips
Here we go again
Stay hydrated, drink water
Drink non-caloric beverages (green tea, black coffee)
If you feel seriously sick, please eat, fasting for longer won’t fix anything
Have a particular food you will eat when you break a fast! If you binge, it ruins your hard work. Don’t go for heavy things like steak, lighter meals like juices and soups are better.
Intermittent fasting is great, and I highly recommend the intermittent fasting communities on reddit because they’re v supportitive
You can’t use fasting to “cancel” bad eating (i.e. binge one day, fast the next). I’m guilty of doing this myself and all I can really say is if you can avoid falling into this pattern, please do.
Don’t try do a 72 hour fast or something on your first go, it will not end well. Look after yourself.
Try to time your fasts to end at convenient times, e.g. if your family eats dinner together on a certain day and will make you eat, time it so it finishes just before dinner
Learn to be disciplined
That being said, it’s not the end of the world if you have to break a fast early (I sometimes straight up forget I’m fasting lmao), you can try again, it’s not a bad thing. Try for progress, not perfection.
If you’re like me and forget that you’re fasting, remind yourself somehow (I usually write something on my wrist)
Don’t go into the kitchen unless you really have to.
Distract yourself - read, light exercise, study, watch television, do art, whatever
My favourite way to distract myself is sleeping
Brush your teeth! It might not work for everyone but for me it really helps
Sugar free gum - chew it, but it does have some calories, so no more then two or three pieces
