BBD â "the door" theory (spoilers for BBD shift#3)
[an analysis of the characters (mostly Lane's) stances and vision, and the chance of possible death of some characters of the game]
â yes, i'm aware that i sound insane (and probably stupid), but in my head, it just makes a lot of sense idk... also, i studied literature and typography for a while, so this might just be me reading too much into things
The movie Lane references in the bathroom scene, after you pic "let him wrap his arm around you":
a guy and a girl inside a bathroom, then, at some point, he stands up, goes to lock the door, and then stabs her to death;
Lane specifically says "with a knife" and that reminded me of the only other knife we've seen in game â the one inside MC's kitchen drawer; which btw, is the only object in there which text is shown in red
The reason as why the guy did it
Lane follows to describe how the guy acted/thought;
Making it clear that he thinks it is insane to choose to kill the person you love instead of just letting that person go
â â â â â â â â â â â
Lane would never lock the door
After making it clear how he absolutely rebuked what the guy did, Lane goes on to say - multiple times - how he would never lock the door, he would never trap the MC, he would never force her to stay;
And saying that, if she wishes to go, she can, she's free to;
Not only would he never lock the door, he would've smashed it open if he was aware of the situation (which brings the next topic)
What he would actually do
Lane said he would've smashed the door
but what would he do about the guy? the answer: he would've killed him
when asked "why?", he said "that's just how i am" - he sees something wrong, he moves;
and when MC asks "what if you got hurt?", he simply answers "you wouldn't."
meaning that even if he got hurt in the process, it would be fine if that meant MC was safe and okay
(now's when the theory of the possibility of his death comes in)
Because Lane makes it very clear he would act even if it could end up with him in prison
To which MC says that he better not die while trying to protect her, because she doesn't want his death on her conscience;
(this one is important because it might be related to the red biker, which i'm going to briefly explain why after finishing the next and last topic of the door theory)
His door was unlocked & "open"
on laneâs route #2, when mc goes to his apartment, he's not there to open the door for her - in fact, he's not seen or heard until the MC takes upon herself to go inside of his apartment to look for him;
because his door was and is unlocked, not only allowing mc to leave but also to come in
there's mentions of death/possibility of being dead again
but, lastly, Lane says - again - that he left the door open for her
the correlation of the red biker and the line "I just don't want your death in my conscience" said by the MC
during the number calling, MC is 'offered' a tarot reading, where Jezabelle mentions that "MC's biggest problem isn't the living" and how "there's a shadow following the MC"
then next she pulls the devil's card - which we can associate to red biker
suggesting that he might already be dead and is just manifesting himself as "force" in MC's life
since it's followed by 3 other cards: the hanged man (werner); the fool (lane); the queen of swords (amelia);
mostly because, when Jezabelle starts naming the other 3 cards, MC asks "Who are these people?" instead of "What do those cards mean?" or something
â lmao it took me a while to realize the cards could be associated with the characters, and i think i only did it bc amelia's card fits her so well
People have really forgotten that yandere is literally a horror trope. No I don't want a "green flag yandere" I want an endless pit of dread in my stomach and also a sense of arousal that shouldn't be there
Why I donât think BB and RB are the same person (wall of text)
This is just my theory, but my brain is as goldfish level as Princess Bubblegum Laneâs taking care of, so take all of this with a grain of salt.
BB says he loves a colourful life, but Laly said he doesnât have a favourite colour. Which makes sense, considering he always seems to dress in black and neutral colours. He likes seeing colour on other people!!
And who is the fcking signal sign here? đđŚRed Biker.
Bro is fully decked out in red gear, a red suit and all that stuff.
BB says itâs important for MC to wear protective gear when riding, but sheâs never seen him wear any. He says itâs a habit he forgot, and that putting on gear takes forever. Maybe itâs just a hassle for him. Yeah, he likes feeling comfortable while riding, for example.
But he used to be in the army. With that kind of military discipline, it probably wouldnât be that hard for him to put on some gear (???)
My thought is that he doesnât wear any because every time he goes riding with RB, the dude takes forever to put his gear on and tells BB to do the same or to wait for him.
BB also hates the sound of Velcro. Thatâs such a specific thing to hate. Even though I also hate the sound of Velcro and a bunch of other specific sounds because Iâm very sound sensitive. But I like to think itâs because RBâs gear is full of Velcro, and BB hates that sound so fucking much because every time heâs around RB, he has to wait for the dude to either put his gear on or take it off.
Pet peeves much??
BB has a love-hate relationship with Scarlette, and I think itâs important to know who got him into motorcycles in the first place. - Laly said, I quoteÂ
My thought? RB.
Scarlette likely originally belonged to RB. Maybe he gave or sold her to BB, and BB painted her black.
Scarlette wonât play nice if she senses that you might hurt, be mean to or try to possess her rider. - Laly said, I quote
BB crashed Scarlette once, and the crash scraped off the black paint, revealing the red underneath. Following Scarletteâs logic, maybe she has 2 owners, meaning 2 riders: BB and RB.
Maybe BB took her out for a test ride and ended up crashing because âshe didnât like him at first.â She was attached to RB and close with him so when RB, a walking neon cocktail sign, decided to give her to some emo ex-veteran boy who immediately painted her black... yeah. I can tell they didnât make a good first impression on each other.
That might be why BB crashed her. She didnât âobeyâ him yet. She was still attached to RB as her rightful owner.
I also like to think the day BB crashed Scarlette was the same day he took that picture in his locker, the one where thereâs someone standing in the corner.
(BBâs clothes all ripped up in the photo also? He crashed and someone took pic of him đ)
Can I assume RB taught BB how to ride and stuff? Maybe it was BBâs first time riding Scarlette, and he ended up crashing. RB probably made fun of him for it too. Yk guys humour and sht.
This could explain why BB has that RedLine keychain, the same RedLine thatâs on RBâs jacket. Scarlette was originally RBâs.
We know BB likes sweet snacks, especially chocolate and strawberry stuff. But does he like salty things? Sea salt cookies? Salty peanuts?
Hmm. Does he? I donât think so.
Also, Red Biker makes a joke about giving himself a stroke before he turns 30. That joke sounds so fcking familiar if yâall remember it. I donât remember if BB said it or if someone else at the garage did, but whoever it was definitely got that humour from RB, or RB got it from them. They influenced each otherâs way of speaking.
BB would rather kill himself than hurt MC. His priority is MC, himself, and his motorcycle. - Laly said, I quote
Heâll never move on if MC rejects him. Heâs loyal. - Laly said, I quote
He says heâs okay with being leashed, but it depends on whoâs holding the leash because he doesnât like being pulled in a different direction.
Can I assume RB was actually the one who suggested BB work at the garage? Because Boss confirmed that BB knew nothing about mechanics at first.
So maybe before Boss was able to earn BBâs trust and loyalty, RB was the one who earned it first.
Then RB went batshit crazy because of MC or something, and BB had to put him down because, like, bro, youâre telling me to hurt the person I like? Youâre going to hurt the girl I love? Ainât no way BB would let that happen.
When BB talks about his old job at Paw Pizza, he says he quit because his old boss isn't the right leader for him. He got jumped by 10 guys and broke his left arm and nose. But he still completed his deliveries because BB says he had a 100% rating for completing orders.
So I assume that even though he got jumped that badly, he still went and delivered after that.
He says he returned home late that night, and MC asks whether he ever went to the hospital or called the police. But he doesnât answer. He does say he didnât go home right away and that he was eating.
Can I assume his last order, or last customer, was RB? The guy mightâve been confused af when a tall, strong man showed up at his doorstep completely messed up, holding a pizza box.
Maybe RB helped BB out or asked him some questions. Even invited him to grab a bite???
And even if RB wasnât a customer, he still couldâve bumped into BB, considering BB says he walked to make deliveries and didnât have a vehicle at the time.
They bond and sht, and thatâs how BB gets to know RB and gets into motorcycles?
Also BB picked 27 to be his lucky number. Who else has that?
BB squints a lot, even when it isnât bright outside. - Laly said, I quote
Did something happen to his vision? Was it related to his scar?
The tattoo on his jawline is a word. Laly confirmed it says ĂŚre.
An ĂŚre tattoo likely refers to the Old Norse or Norwegian word ĂŚra, meaning âhonour.â People get this term tattooed to symbolise values like integrity, bravery, respect, and loyalty to their family or heritage.
Did BB get it for himself, or was RB or MC the one who influenced his decision to get it?
Knowing BB and his stone-ground personality, I believe he probably wanted it himself. But RB mightâve encouraged him a little.
Why is RBâs helmet so fcked up?
MC describes the helmet as looking like itâs been thrown several times. So either RB went insane and smashed his own gear, or he used that helmet to smash something or someone and it ended up looking like that.
Could it be that BB used it to rearrange RBâs face? Idk
The neighbour seems like a caring person who looks out for MC. He says he met RB in the hallway and got death-stared by the guy and stuff. So itâs likely that the man saw RB really up close even with helmet on. Thereâs no way he canât tell BB and RB apart, or at least not recognise one of them, right?
The day MC and RB met was the date on the receipt in BBâs wallet.
Also, I want to point out that MC seems to have had memory problems way before she started working at Mad Dog. Consider the note Amy gave her. MC marked it in red with âDONâT FORGET!!!â underlined.
So if thatâs the case, itâs easy to understand why she doesnât remember BB and RB very well, whether itâs because of whatever happened that led to her fear of blood.
Back to the first time she met RB. Why do I say RB?
Because RB appears at the end and tells MC to scan those salty peanuts, and there are salty peanuts on the receipt.
I like to think RB met MC at the store sometime between 17th October and 22nd October. Why those specific days?
The date on the receipt is faded out, but we can see something that almost looks like a â2.â
Flashback to MCâs first day at work, when she meets Lane. Lane says MC hasnât gotten her own POS code yet, so she can use his code for now.
We donât know exactly when MC gets her own code, but Iâd say it probably takes at least around a week (one of my shtty old jobs made me wait for like a month damnnn). So 22nd October is still within the same time range where she might not have had her own code yet.
That receipt couldâve been MC scanning RBâs items using Laneâs code.
Also, the price tag she printed for Lane. Lane says it was around MCâs first week working there. So that puts it somewhere between 17th to 24th October, most likely.
âWhat if it was earlier, like 2nd or 12th October?â
No, it canât be. 12th October is a Sunday. The store is closed and thereâs no shift. You can check the calendar RJ hung in the stockroom.
2nd October is too early for MC to even be working there, so that doesnât make sense either...
So MC and RB likely knew each other from around 17th or 22nd October until the Halloween party on 31st October.
Now, we canât confirm whether something really happened that night, but Lane vaguely says itâs possible. So letâs assume something did happen on 31st October.
There was a Halloween party at the old warehouse down by the docks. The dress code was red jackets or zombie costumes. Customers were packed into the store. Maybe MC met RB again when he went to the store.Â
Iâd say 2 weeks isnât enough for MC to know RB that well, but maybe they talked in a subtle way, like BB and MC do now. They likely knew one or two things about each other.
My thought is this.
What if RB let BB wear his suit that day, and MC thought BB was RB?
Maybe RB dragged BB to that party. There was a dress code theme, right? đ¤ So maybe he put BB in one of his red suits and gear (Which explained the devil face on the helmet, it was original a Halloween theme outfit???)
That could explain why thereâs a devil pattern on the helmet. It mightâve been part of a Halloween-themed outfit. But when they swung by the store, maybe MC mistook BB for RB.
As for whether BB knew MC, I think he did. Maybe RB talked about her all the time to BB, and BB got curious, stalked her a little, and kind of understood why RB liked her too.
What happened after that? We donât know.
Tbh I also think BB couldâve just gone in a zombie costume. I donât know exactly what happened to his scar, but if he didnât have the tattoo back then, he couldâve been a zombie just by taking off his helmet.
People wouldâve been like âOooooohhhhh dude! Sick costume!â
BUT BUT BUT, I STILL HAVE MORE TO SAY.
What if RB knew MC, but BB took on his identity so he could get close to MC? Like, putting on RBâs gear and helmet and visiting the store?
Yk identity game? Persona game?
Which is why MCâs memories are so messed up, because these 2 bikers keep switching and showing up at her workplace.
Or maybe they had a bet to see how long they could keep it up without MC figuring out who was who, and then something unfortunately went south.
MC does make comments about how she thinks red suits Scarlette and BB. So maybe her subconscious is trying to tell her about everything BB and RB did.
Like, mannnnn!!!!
The only reason BB isnât jealous about RB, as we see when he talks to MCâs neighbour, might not be because theyâre the same person.
Maybe itâs because of their identity game, prank or bet involving MC.
Even BB might not be sure who MC actually likes and who exactly scared her off.
Like, are you scared of me, BB pretending to be RB? Or are you scared of the real RB?
Do you like BB when he plays RB, or are you actually into RB or BB? Which is which???
It confuses him and makes everything complicated. Thatâs why he canât pinpoint his jealousy yet, even though he gets jealous so quickly when MC talks to Serkan or anyone and makes it obvious.
He isnât jealous of RB because maybe the RB MC liked was actually him, while the person sheâs scared of is the real RB.
When MC asks BB if she can touch his wallet, he says she canât exactly take on his identity.
Uhm. Okay.
Also, do yâall know Fay from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle and Ciel from Black Butler?
They took on the identities of people they cared about after those people died. It was their way of grieving and fulfilling what that person never got to fulfil.
So maybe if RB really liked MC, and BB did too, BB wants RB to be accepted by MC in some way. Just minus whatever tf they did before and however badly they messed things up for her.
Thatâs why BB kept the red helmet and let MC wear it the first time he offered her a ride. Then the next day, he got rid of it and said it had fulfilled its purpose.
What was the red helmetâs purpose? Whatever RB wanted mightâve been its purpose.
RB wanted to take MC on a ride!!!!
And that couldâve been BBâs way of helping RB fulfil one last wish, because he still had some sense of respect for the dude..... Maybe....Â
Also, if the helmet broke because RB crashed his motorcycle, that could explain why BB says he borrowed it and that it fulfilled its purpose.
If RB is alive, the helmet protected its owner. Thatâs it.
If that man is 6 feet underground then... uhm the helmet still fulfilled its purpose by not letting that man become headless or faceless. Hahahah I'm sorry BB humorÂ
BB jokes about his scar, faceless and headless, enough of me....Â
Did BB come up with those jokes himself, or was RB the one who called him that after seeing BBâs face?
Who knows? I donât know!!!
And they dare say women are hard to understand!!!?
So that might be why, when MC says she loves colours too but no matter what she does, the world still feels grey to her, BB goes quiet.
Maybe heâs a little disappointed because it means she doesnât remember him or RB.
But at the same time, he doesnât want her to remember someone like RB either, regardless of whatever happened between the three of them.
What if RB was a bad influence on BB? Or maybe he just sped up the process of BB getting off the leash?
Like, BB spent years suppressing himself, trying to stay controlled and disciplined. Then suddenly, he meets someone wild like RB, someone who encourages everything he does.
