– idk i think it's kinda wild how he makes me laugh so much, but if i stop to really think about his character, he makes me so sad (i love u lane still hate u tho)

BBD – "the door" theory (spoilers for BBD shift#3)

[an analysis of the characters (mostly Lane's) stances and vision, and the chance of possible death of some characters of the game]

— yes, i'm aware that i sound insane (and probably stupid), but in my head, it just makes a lot of sense idk... also, i studied literature and typography for a while, so this might just be me reading too much into things

Let's start:

The locked door

The movie Lane references in the bathroom scene, after you pic "let him wrap his arm around you":

a guy and a girl inside a bathroom, then, at some point, he stands up, goes to lock the door, and then stabs her to death;

Lane specifically says "with a knife" and that reminded me of the only other knife we've seen in game ‐ the one inside MC's kitchen drawer; which btw, is the only object in there which text is shown in red

The reason as why the guy did it

Lane follows to describe how the guy acted/thought;

Making it clear that he thinks it is insane to choose to kill the person you love instead of just letting that person go

Lane would never lock the door

After making it clear how he absolutely rebuked what the guy did, Lane goes on to say - multiple times - how he would never lock the door, he would never trap the MC, he would never force her to stay;

And saying that, if she wishes to go, she can, she's free to;

Not only would he never lock the door, he would've smashed it open if he was aware of the situation (which brings the next topic)

What he would actually do

Lane said he would've smashed the door

but what would he do about the guy? the answer: he would've killed him

when asked "why?", he said "that's just how i am" - he sees something wrong, he moves;

and when MC asks "what if you got hurt?", he simply answers "you wouldn't."

meaning that even if he got hurt in the process, it would be fine if that meant MC was safe and okay

(now's when the theory of the possibility of his death comes in)

Because Lane makes it very clear he would act even if it could end up with him in prison

To which MC says that he better not die while trying to protect her, because she doesn't want his death on her conscience;

(this one is important because it might be related to the red biker, which i'm going to briefly explain why after finishing the next and last topic of the door theory)

His door was unlocked & "open"

on lane’s route #2, when mc goes to his apartment, he's not there to open the door for her - in fact, he's not seen or heard until the MC takes upon herself to go inside of his apartment to look for him;

because his door was and is unlocked, not only allowing mc to leave but also to come in

there's mentions of death/possibility of being dead again

but, lastly, Lane says - again - that he left the door open for her

the correlation of the red biker and the line "I just don't want your death in my conscience" said by the MC

during the number calling, MC is 'offered' a tarot reading, where Jezabelle mentions that "MC's biggest problem isn't the living" and how "there's a shadow following the MC"

then next she pulls the devil's card - which we can associate to red biker

suggesting that he might already be dead and is just manifesting himself as "force" in MC's life

since it's followed by 3 other cards: the hanged man (werner); the fool (lane); the queen of swords (amelia);

mostly because, when Jezabelle starts naming the other 3 cards, MC asks "Who are these people?" instead of "What do those cards mean?" or something

– lmao it took me a while to realize the cards could be associated with the characters, and i think i only did it bc amelia's card fits her so well

i think about this a lot actually...

— just more indicators that suggest there's a possibility Lane will die, or that at least him and the MC will be in a "life or death" situation

— the fact that Lane doesn't like horses, but his mother had a horse plushie that would probably end up being his after he was born

BBD SHIFT #3 SPOILERS‼️ (lane's route)

at first i was like "i'm just gonna do his love route and that's it", bc i really liked the bathroom scene where he just puts his arm around mc & bc i love cute, romantic, nice moments idk🧍🏻‍♀️

BUT THEN i chose the other option out of curiosity...

AND OMG then i started his slowburn route and GODDAMN ‼️‼️

– on a serious note, i really liked learning more about his character, his past, and relationships

the whole convo where lane talked about his mom did smth to me bc i was like "damn bro- get out of my walls, why are you describing my home life rn?"

when he started describing her victim complex and how emotionally manipulative she was and also the "it's like she says something and i'm 15 again" LIKE DAMN i got no chill🧍🏻‍♀️

i must say i never expected to actually share such a similar experience with him of all people

and don't even get me started on the convo about his ex– like O.M.G. stop making me relate to you☝🏻

BBD SHIFT #3 SPOILERS‼️

final assessment: i hate him (sm) but i really, really like him (kill me)

...

– the fact that he's an avoidant, yet he cares so much, just tries sooo hard to pretend he doesn't (to protect/don't expose himself and don't show vulnerability)

– i hate him, he pisses me off so much. but he has gotten under my skin and now this mf won't leave.

– i genuinely never believed i could like a character like him, bc he is literally the embodiment of everything hate about men, and yet here i am.

– his character just did something to me idk... he's not just an annoying dude with stupid (funny) jokes and a big mouth who never shuts up. he feels so human - very flawed, yes - and i think that's what got me, bc even tho he says and does a lot of bs that makes me think i will finally start to actually hate him, then he does/says something that makes me realize he's not actually ill intended; bc he cares, he tries, he feels - he's not a mean person, he just has a lot of disregard for lots of things

– he's self-destructive, he's hurt, he's self-aware of himself but not of the weight of the things he says

– when i find a character interesting, i simply can not forget about them nor get tired of them, and that's my problem with him - he won't GET OUT OF MY HEAD

it's a love-hate healthy relationship (i hate him and he loves me)

– i remember it took me 8 hours (+1 week) to be able to stomach his character without crashing out

– during the first 3 hours i absolutely hated his guts and was sure I'd choose BB

– ..........but then i played more, and 4 hours later, this mf had charmed me through laughter and ragebait (and his pretty face but whatever)

– but in a real-life scenario, i'd choose his sister, so it's all good😼

when i met her, i could instantly tell that she's extremely emotionally intelligent. mii always takes time for her friends, taking people's problems and feelings very serious and being gentle when giving them advice.

even though she's introverted and sometimes burnt out from work or drawing, she still makes her friends feel appreciated and loved💗

mii is someone i really enjoy talking to and a person who i can wholeheartedly call a gentle soul that still manages to shine brighter than a starry night sky🌙💗
