Jog on! Ronan Keating and model girlfriend Storm Uechtritz take a morning run around Sydney Harbour

The 36-year-old singer was spotted burning off the calories with the Australian TV producer during a jog around Sydney suburb Rushcutters Bay on Monday. Dressed in a black vest top that showed off his heavily inked upper arms, Ronan looked in good shape during his latest appearance down under since returning to the country for series five of X Factor Australia.

William Sichel

  Sichel’s 515 mile mega run hits the heights in UK 6 Day race

  Orkney-based ultra marathon runner, William Sichel (59) travelled to Abingdon near Oxford last week for the British UltraFest 6 day track race held on the all-weather facility at Radley College.  William produced one of his finest performances to date recording 515.70 miles in the 6 days, finishing as runner-up to France’s Didier Sessegolo who covered 533 miles.

  In this, his last race in the over 55 category, William recorded seven new track records at World, British and Scottish level at 500km, 500 miles and 6 days, the highlight being a new World Age-Group record for the over 55’s at 6 Days. This now takes William’s total record tally to 67.

  A quality field of 24 starters from 14 countries toed the line with the winner’s performance now taking him to the World No 1 spot with William rising to World No 3 position in the overall World Rankings for this event this year.

  “I was really keen to do a big performance in this event as it was the first one for 23 years to be held in the UK.  I am delighted that I was able to pull it off, very satisfying and a big boost as I head for my 60th birthday.”

  With mainly good weather conditions throughout the event many national records were set in men’s and women’s categories.  The event was in the Palatial grounds of Radley College and was considered a success all round.  The organisers would like to continue with it.

  William now focuses on recovery from the exhaustion caused by such an effort.

  “Recovery really does have to be taken seriously.  It’s more like recovering from a road accident or an expedition than a sporting event.  Loads of rest and massage, extra sleep and I find my appetite is about doubled for a week following the race.  The main change I have noticed over the years, however, is that I recover quicker now than before which is encouraging.”

C2C4 Challenge

Congratulations to those involved with the C2C4 challenge who 2XU UK supported. Hear is there write up of an incredibly tough 5 days for a very worthy cause.

'Well it is now 5 days since we finished our C2C4 Challenge and I can confidently state it was the hardest C2C ever completed!

 Over the course of the 4 days we climbed in excess of 12,000 feet (half the height of Everest), ran 63 miles, swam over a mile and pushed ourselves to the absolute limit...and beyond! Without the amazing team spirit between all athletes and support crew we could not have finished; but finish we did and in real style. With the sun on our backs we ran straight into the sea at Tynemouth and were able at last to rest our weary limbs.

 The team look like they are going to raise close to £20,000 for CHUF and take us to within £10,000 of our fundraising target. This £330,000 target will fund the re-build of the playroom and outside play area attached to Ward 23 at the Freeman Hospital. Because some babies and children can spend weeks or months on the Heart Unit they could potentially be deprived of the things all children should be able to do; smile and laugh. By providing state of the art play facilities we believe we can enrich the lives of all children on the heart unit along with their siblings and parents. Hopefully we can push on and achieve this fundraising target soon and get the playroom built before the end of the year.

 It’s funny how stretching yourself to the limit physically, can force you to search deep within your soul to discover what you are really made of. There were many occasions when I did this over the course of our C2C4; so please indulge me for a moment?

 When Seb was diagnosed with a potentially life threatening heart defect in 2009, Nadine and I felt more scared than at any time in our lives. The following weeks and months leading up to and immediately after his surgery the world was an incredibly dark and lonely place. After Seb underwent successful surgery we spoke about doing something to repay those ‘miracle-makers’ at the Freeman for saving our boy. I remember the conversation as if it were yesterday, as we sat in PICU looking at Seb clinging to life. Fast forward to 21st-24th July 2013 and I have never felt less alone, less helpless or dark and that is because of every single person who contributed to our C2C4.

Each and every person arrived with a positive attitude; not only were they about to take on the hardest ever C2C, but they were determined to do so in the right spirit. It is not enough to raise loads of money, or to challenge yourself physically and mentally; for this to work it has to grab you by the heart strings. Everyone can be incredibly proud for making the C2C4 the best event we have ever organised. Whilst many believe our society is in a trough of negativity and self destruction, events of the last week confirm my faith in the human spirit.'
