Hello! I heard Stevie G's testimonial match is this summer. Do you think Alonso will be there as well? Love, Anon.
I don’t know if his testimonial will be this summer. I think it’s just a rumour at this point (that story from radio marca originated on twitter). Stevie has said he wants one and to donate the proceeds to his foundation. When he has one, I’m sure Xabi would like to play in it. I remember his second ever tweet.
Carra’s testimonial was held during the second international break of the season and if that’s also the case with Stevie’s, then I don’t know if Del Bosque will give Xabi permission to go. But, Stevie will still be England captain this summer, so I guess if it’s this year his testimonial would be played sometime during pre-season? If Mourinho is still manager this summer then I suspect Xabi will be allowed to go, because Mou loves Stevie and he allowed Dudek to go to Carra's.
I really hope Xabi will be able to make it, whenever it is. It would be so nice for them to play together again, even if it would be for only once more.

I think one of my favorite things about football in general is the way it can connect people from such different backgrounds. In what other enviornment would you find a council estate kid from Huyton becoming great friends and working together with a rich boy from San Sebastian?
Would you happen to have this great gif I saw a while ago of Xabi looking up at Stevie in the box right after he scores his penalty? Or the link to the video? I would LOVE to get screencaps or a clearer gif from that, they were so.... ugh, it was just one of those moments, you know? But I can't find it anymore :(
Ooh. The gif that comes to my mind is this one Is that the one you mean?? I posted a video of that moment here. I can't really see Xabi looking up at Stevie in that moment though. I made some screencaps for you in case this is the moment you mean.
