i like the repeated implication in this series that elf food (especially the cake) is just Not That Great in general

It also aligns with some of the other thematic connections that dungeon meshi establishes between food, life, and death. As the longest lived of the long lived races, it is implied that elves are less "connected" to the cycle of life and death because they take so long to die. Recall how the members of the golden kingdom's food was terribly bland, a shell of its former self, and that the citizens there had become unable to taste principally due to their immortality. It could be argued that a similar (though lesser) phenomena is occuring with elves who, further removed from life and death than any other race due to their incredible longevity, are unable to properly savor life and living through food (ie cook good).

more merfolk clothing sketches, very inspired from WHA's witches fashion style

different merfolks from different places indulge in diff customs and traditions, these guys are from a village in Azuloch (i'll share the map when it's finished or drop wips) 🫶

they worship the moon and it's lunar phases, placing importance on the connection between the moon and the tides

clothing-wise they go for free flowing styles that lets them move in big motions

Some merfolks also have different physical features; Azuloch merfolks feature long sturdy tails for maneuver, and commonly 1-2 pairs of head fins while Edrerians have short stubby tails, ankle fins and 2 or more pairs of head fins 💥

higher status Azulochess' clothing are more inconvenient? indicating they don't need to move as much as lower status who does everyday work and mundane things

these sketches don't really portray Edrerians as a whole tho i just thought cowboys were neat HAHAHSSJ (maybe betta fishes are likely to be cowboys!! yeehaw)
