Somalia is among the countries that has the highest rate of out-of-school children in the world with only four out of ten Somali children attending schools. Furthermore, in the South and central regions of Somalia, girls are even more likely not to be in school with only one of three attending, according to an article from BBC News Africa. The reason for this weak rate is likely due to the many conflicts the country has had in the last two decades.

In order to accelerate and promote the process of education for all, the Somali authorities have established a project called Go 2 School, which aims to get a million more children into school.
