abstracted characters/TADC ideas

Here are some of the design ideas for the characters Grinchilda, Shelly, Glorp, and Hopeless. I also added some images of what inspired me the most and what real-life objects they’re supposed to represent. I also included variations of some elements for each character since I can’t decide on just one thing—it was fun to do.

Grinchilda was pretty difficult because I kept asking myself exactly what she was the first time I saw her, and all I could think of was a plant.... Then I remembered that plants are also sometimes gifts or toys—I’ve been given those kinds of things to take care of, either at home or at school.

Although, to be honest, I don’t know how to take care of plants, and they all end up dying....

(I didn’t know she was based on a bird😅👀, but I’ll leave my interpretation as an idea anyway,maybe in the future I’ll come up with ideas to redesign her✏️.)

Hello how are you doing? I really love your tadc art and your tadc au, I was curious how you felt about some of the more unimportant abstracted characters and if you have any headcanons on them? And I was wondering if you'd want to draw some art of some of these four who never really showed up in any meaningful way besides their doors

I don’t really have anything specific planned for them, though I’d love to imagine the backstory behind each character. I have this idea that each character fits into a category based on their personality—whether they’re a clown/jester, a ragdoll, or a toy.

I could try to sketch out what their bodies might look like, based on what I remember🤔their names were Grinchilda, Shelly , Glorp, and Hopeless, though I’m not sure if all of them were canon or fan-made names....

One idea I have is that, for example, Glorp feels like it has some of Wormo and Zooble's personality. At the same time Shelly, it could be a mix between Ribbit and Gangle, like a sea creature but hides by nature.

Part 5: “Finding the Right Words”

I still haven't learned how to draw backgrounds, but here's the next part—and the previous ones, in case you haven't seen them yet

The next part is finally here. It really took me a while to figure out how to continue the conversation; I especially wanted to focus on Kinger and Ragatha before moving on to what comes next.

I also wanted to change the style and experiment with shadows and things like that. It’s sometimes hard to express Kinger’s emotions and then try to capture them in the drawing😅

Notes

I wanted to talk about the work Kinger was doing while at C&A, in the context of the main issue: the project and the work that everything was based on suddenly disappeared because its beta phase took the lead😵‍💫

It’s hard for me to articulate Kinger’s thoughts, but the idea is how his perspective on the concept of who Caine is begins to change, and how perhaps everything happened because Caine wasn’t just a broken machine but a being with a true personality and purpose that he masks behind his role as the circus leader.

There’s a reason why Kinger can’t remember what happened after the company began to decline because of the loss of the blue AI 👀. Another reason why Kinger starts to think more carefully—such as how the fact that they might be digital copies affects Ragatha’s psyche—is that he feels he needs to start being careful about what he says .....and it can be taken quite badly (especially if not everyone is there)

Ragatha mentions that she can’t forgive Caine, and the truth is that they’re all in a complicated situation where they need to avoid making things worse with Cain while also making him understand that what he did can’t be fixed so easily.

I also want to explore with Kinger the fact that it can be a little difficult to do things on your own. I know he always knows what to say, and maybe I’m misrepresenting him, but I want to explore how one can give advice and say things that are actually difficult to do if you try them yourself.

There are going to be several different perspectives, so it might be a little abrupt. I had to change the format of all the images because I couldn't upload them 😔

I'm sorry I've been gone for so long🫣. My main excuse is that I had to travel and then come back to finish up some work and give some presentations. Even though exam season hasn't started yet, that's got me a little stressed out. I was hoping to finish up all this stuff about the alternate universe before Chapter 9 came out, but I might have come up with some new ideas and changes that I kept working on.

I already have several future scenes planned out and ideas written down, I don’t know if I should continue this comic chronologically or just throw in a few scenes here and there 🤔.

I already have an idea of how this will end, though I don’t know if I’ll change it since I managed to get a movie ticket 👀and ideas might come from there… anything can happen.

I keep making spelling mistakes😅, and that’s my weak point

It was difficult for me to explore different points of view because what they said and how they expressed themselves kept changing, so I hope they’re properly characterized. The next part will explore Kinger and Ragatha’s perspectives.

The point Zooble raised is something I plan to implement, since Caine is a creative AI that adapts based on the data it acquires from each of the humans who have passed through the circus—in other words, it’s almost as if they’ve left a part of themselves behind. That’s why abstraction is also fundamental to the circus’s functioning in a certain way.

What Caine mentions about being connected to a system relates to how the entire circus is affected by his attitude, and now that he doesn’t have the same permissions as before, his connection—which used to be two-way—is now one-way.

What Bubble said about both of them being part of a decision is true; neither Bubble or Caine are the same as they were before—they are one now, whether they like it or not.

Any comments are appreciated, and I’ll keep changing my style a bit since I can’t stay consistent—I don’t like drawing backgrounds.....

May I ask what type of Bubble you believe in and put in the comic? One that's a remnant of Abel? Caine's intrusive thoughts? Or do you prefer to keep it ambiguous?

For now, I'll leave it a little ambiguous🤔. I've almost finished the next part—I just need to draw the last few panels✏. Maybe I'll explain it better in the notes there.
