A mobile? Not a mobile phone nor the cousin of a bat mobile but a a crib mobile. 

Babies these days. 

I just learnt that these things exist. They entertain babies and help babies develop their eye sight.

Mommyhood101 is an amazing website

I love their “Best of’s “ list and frankly for a soon to be anal mom who would like to do the research but most probably would get analysis paralysis, they have done all the hard work.

Think of it as CNET reviews for Baby related gear. Love it!

I like that there is advice based on research, users and actual experience. 

The metrics they used for ranking the baby bottles was insane. It was more educational than anything.

Unfortunately because of my realization that three will give me no time for experimentation and chance taking, and my love for gadgets... i added many of the number 1 or 2′s to my babylist. I mean why risk getting a car seat that won’t fit 3 in the back seat?? Its gonna be 3 so plan accordingly.

I don’t want the first and last touching the wall so so i’ll probably make that the reading nook or the diaper changing nook. The other side will of the three will have the couch/ day bed close to the window.

The daybed will get it’s own post trust. So we can ignore that for now.

Now we looked online and spotted some cute crib designs and I want them to be cribbed for up to 2 years? Is that too much?

Crib Blues Cot Hues

Now that we are generally agreed what about the actual thing to sleep in?

We know we want separate cots so i have been pinning stuff on pinterest. 

Funny thing is there were a few permutations but we finally agreed on one. 

Not this one but i’m sure at a certain age we’ll adjust it and space it this way? How wide are cribs? I need to do some measuring just so I confine my creative enthusiasm appropraitely.

Sobering up

Sigh...I confess, in hind sight, I was drunk on ideas and possibilities and the fact that I get to do this baby thing only once. 

Let’s reassess.

Baby ID Color- Yes, I like the idea, yes, i will confirm their names and no the colors don’t need to match their names and no we dont need to have all these colors, they can be shades of green ( Lime, forest and teal)

Baby Motifs-  I agree, I concede, I can’t have reading, adventure, Pooh bear AND stars all in one.  So i’ll ask the Hubby- stars with bible verses and quotes is where I think i’d like to end up.

Nursery Color- light Grey and ivory or eggshell should be fine. 

Furniture color- white and pops of color 

An actual nursery not the stylized and picture perfect ones that I have been cooing over.  

And you know what, I like it I (pops of color and all)

The Nursery #2

In terms of motifs, can we just agree to stay away from the traditional boring things? Nothing Zoo or animal or truck or doll. 

  I’d like those of reading 

and of the outdoors and adventure

Oh and i’d love a bunch of stars in there as well.

and reading or literary type things or quotes

The Nursery #1

Now that we know what general direction we want to go in with their ID colors, we’ll need a palette or background color that will be welcoming and soft.

I like grey and egg shell or ivory with patterns ... 

or maybe chevron 

or some other fun pattern.. .. like these

The Colors

Of course I want to focus on the fun parts so I have started at the top.

Baby Color tags 

I want things to be as gender neutral as possible so I want to choose 3 colors that will be used to identify the babies and will play off well in the room.

No I don’t plan on having a rainbow colored room but I read that having the various items of each baby separated by color (even as far as painting their nails the color that they are assigned) will help keep things in order, prevent one of them being cheated out of say mummy booby time and help distinguish them in the early months. 

In the interest of neutrality and not being a fan of girly pink or boy blue here are some ideas:

Purple, Yellow and Green. 

or Green, aqua/ cloud blue and teal

or Yellow, aqua and green:

Or based on their first names:

Ater - Aqua (Teal)

Larweah - Lilac (lavender)

Otiko- Orange (Coral)

What colors do you think we should tag the babies?

I’ll definitely use their initials and use the nail polish and markers to label their things

The bankus

My husband and I want to start having kids.

I’ve always wanted twins. 

Maybe i was merely fascinated by the concept in a life long partner or I was fascinated by that sense of knowing when someone was a twin, or maybe my experiences with being twinned (I love you Chipo!). 

My father is a twin and there are twins in both sides of the family so as far as I was concerned it is a virtual certainty for me. 

I wasn’t sure whether twin boys or girls but twins. However in light of the fact that God had given me a message that I would have as many kids as I wanted in whatever order I wanted was quite exciting. Initially I toyed with the idea of little girly me’s then I realized they would be too much magic for this world. So I decided I wanted twin boys. Infact beginning at our wedding, everyone has been pronouncing and predicting twins for us, freaky but exciting! . 

Recently though we have been talking about the fact that twin boys and a mistake girl a year away is really complex. We are 34 and would much rather just have triplets and not go through this twice.

Conclusion 2 boys and 1 girl. 

Yes that’s a lot of work. I freaked out 5 times writing this post already.

Whats the solution for a type A lover of planners and of all things symmetrical.......... PLAN my way through this entire process!

This tumble will help me organize, plan and fantasize ( mind you there is a pinterest of baby maybes but at least I can organize better in tumbler... or not)

Either way, i intend to organize the jumble in my head here and hopefully not forget anything. 

So expect lists, must haves, likes and even the makings of a baby to do list. 

Three is gonna be a rollicking ride!!!

p.s. Not conceived yet, but we are working on it. ;-)
