Bay Rum is a skin and hair tonic first developed by sailors passing through the Caribbean in the 16th century. They would steep leaves from the local West Indies Bay Tree (Pimenta Racemosa) into their favorite drink, Jamaican rum, to produce bay rum: a wonderful tonic acting as both a strong cologne and a potent healer of dirty, irritated skin and hair exposed to the harsh salt and sun of the sea. Bay Rum aftershave is our own blend of West Indies bay leaves, organic witch hazel, soothing aloe, and proprietary blend of “trade spices” that serve to soothe and cool irritated skin, condition hair follicles, and tighten pores, while also lending you the fragrance of the open sea & spice merchants of old.
