since Leopardstar's SE does some crazy shit, in the AU i keep my OG hc that Reedwhisker is from Mistyfoot's second litter and that's why he is a young apprentice in Moonrise, because it flows better with everything else i made for the AU (and i like to ignore timelines and stuff made up in SE and Novellas because. it really goes against main books).

i am actually keeping the dumb idea of Blackclaw being Nightcloud's dad in the AU, but her mom is actually a RiverClan she-cat, and she is a bit older than Reedwhisker. maybe by a month or so, and it was more so an accident bc he wasn't sure if Mistyfoot could even give him offspring so. but he did that in secret, and the Misty revealed that she is expecting and uhhh. yeah.

Nightcloud's mom give birth outside the camp, and left the kit in the barn, and then as she got apprentice aged, Ravenpaw gave her to WindClan.

which means yes, Breezepelt is half-clan and yes, it means Nightcloud and Reedwhisker were fucking the same dude.

hey wouldn't it be funny and fucked if i made Blackclaw be Nightcloud's father in the AU or

initially i wanted her to be born in BloodClan/loner family and WindClan just found her as a kit and that's why she decided to start the 'relationship' with Crowfeather bc he was a deputy son and so she thought it will make her feel more WindClan and accepted. it didn't work out, they broke up after two weeks but she still wanted kits so she would have at least a shred of family so.

but i think her being Blackclaw bastard child behind Mistyfoot's back and given away to WindClan is way funnier

Other clans are told that Blackclaw died of starvation during the drought (you know which one.).

RiverClan kind of get the idea of what happened but no one really.. said anything. Like, they knew how rocky the relations between Blackclaw and Mistyfoot+Reedwhisker were, and that one day one of them may snap.

But they expected Mistyfoot to do so. Not to see her escort Reedwhisker (who was also wounded) who was holding dead Blackclaw in his jaws. No one really commented on it, even after Reed went to medicine den to be treated.

Leopardstar was already very weak from her illness and starvation, and even if Blackclaw was her foster sibling (she was nursed by his mother), she wasn’t really approving of his relationship with Misty. She remembered his involvement in TigerClan and during Mudclaw’s rebellion. Family or not, but even she have standards (and im saying it as someone who isnt really a fan of Leopardstar but its not the point now lol)

So once his body is prepared, they say nothing. RiverClan just sits a vigil, says nothing about him and then they bury him.

He initially goes to StarClan, but then he gets his ass whooped by Misty’s WHOLE family - and it doesn’t stop on her blood family. And then he ends up in a Limbo/Silver Path.

there are huge changes regarding Guardian Cats in the AU, that i want to address they of course still live in the city, in the church, but how clan cats meet them is very different

when Darktail raided lake territories, his group attacked WindClan right away and killed few cats (including Whitetail). the moment Onestar saw him, he called retreat and survivors ran towards ThunderClan territories (some were unfortunately captured, including Kestrelflight). Darktail wanted to get Onestar, but since he and remaining WindClanners hid in ThunderClan (which was a big clan), he decided to wait. and because WindClan’s camp was in the open, he wanted better camp. so they raided RiverClan.

see, this entire time ShadowClan had closed their border - Russetstar ruled it pretty iron claw and didn’t want them get too much involved with other clan affairs anymore. she believed it was for the better, after Great Battle. Tawnypelt (her deputy) didn’t really agree with that, but that way they had more authority and power over their apprentices (which rebelled anyways, but this time because ShadowClan was too strict with rules). so RiverClan was practically in the open for an attack, due to WindClan being taken over and ShadowClan closing their borders. Darktail captured plenty of RiverClanners, including Mistystar, Reedwhisker and Willowshine, while the others tried to seek shelter within ShadowClan

even with Mothwing’s presence, they were turned away and most scattered in panic - wandering far away the clan territories, eventually running into the city and Guardian Cats Mothwing and very few made it to the ThunderClan, but by the time Darktail’s group had almost as many rogues as ThunderClan, and ShadowClan didn’t want to help.

imprisoned Wind and RiverClanners, along with few ShadowClan apprentices-turned-warriors eventually fought back, when Darktail was away to kill Violetpaw, and then ran away to the ShadowClan. despite Russetstar initial unwillingness to help, seeing how badly the survivors were looking (and well.. Mistystar was still there) and how much power Darktail gained, she decided to aid ThunderClan in fighting him off. SkyClan also arrived, yadda yadda

so knowing the background of how RiverClan met Guardian Cats, after Darktail was killed and his rogues scattered, remaining RiverClanners were still sheltered by ShadowClan, due to their damage, camp being ruined and Mistystar recovering from losing most of her lives. she was whiskers away from losing her last one and merging RiverClan with ShadowClan, due to the loses and clanmates missing - but Reedwhisker wanted to go and find the missing ones. after receiving a vision of a big, shining building, he left ShadowClan camp and started his search. same night Willowshine and Crowfeather tagged along, because.. ‘dude you are next in line to lead RiverClan, your mother is losing her mind, where the fuck are you going’.

they found Guardian Cats and missing RiverClanners and after few days, they decided to go back - some cats decided to stay back, but others wanted to go back to RiverClan. same day ShadowClan’s camp was raided by ex-Kin, including Sleekwhisker, and they managed to kill Russetstar (she came back) and Mistystar (she didnt). sheltered RiverClanners obviously freaked out bc they didn’t had a leader or deputy OR medicine cat (other than Mothwing, but she didn’t want to lead nor appoint anyone). during the way back, Reedwhisker got run by a train, while trying to help Duskfur, and instead of burying him, Crowfeather and Willowshine decided to take him to Moonpool and baptize him anyways. Duskfur and Jayclaw tagged along. Minnowtail took the others back to the ShadowClan camp, where she announced that their deputy is back and is going to get nine lifes (totally skipping the part where he got smeared all over the train tracks).

soooo. yeah. Guardian Cats are still there, but none of them are taken to clans and are let alone. those clan cats were like ‘wow other group of cats? cool. have fun, we are going back’

StarClan gives the prophecy cats kind-of unlimited lifes (they claim it’s only 9, but who knows), because they need them alive but they are also very stupid (or one of them is) and they can’t afford losing them

- Heathertail accidentally goes to Dark Forest and that’s how she learns that she is actually half-RiverClan - meanwhile Cloudstar nearly got strangled by Crowfeather for his bullshit prophecy - to parallel Tigerheart dying to an owl, Reedwhisker gets hit by a train - Blackclaw goes to Limbo for his homophobic crimes - Brambleclaw becomes Goosefeather v.2 but more fucked up and lives with Rock and Fallen Leaves - Rock choose Brambleclaw to become a hermit because he wanted Tigerclawstar bloodline to stop having babies left and right, and he wasn’t fast enough to stop Tawnypelt - Sol have super charisma skills, mind powers and builds a polycule, he can also see ghosts - Smoke is actually alive and her new owners moved to the lake, during Darktail’s Kin regin - Graystripe and Millie have 8 kittens - Brightheart-star interrupts Leafpool’s StarClan trial and kicks Moth Flight - oh and Leafpool actually survives being buried in rocks, but her front arm breaks badly and becomes Deadfoot v.2 - ThunderClan got an omen about Thornclaw training in Dark Forest but they are still too dumb to figure it out until the last second - Nightcloud and Leafstar became girlfriends, as a treat - Mistystar loses her last life while fighting Sleekwhisker after Darktail died and remaining rogues raided ShadowClan camp (and then Sleek is killed by Dawnpelt) - Sandstorm kicks Ashfur’s ass during the great battle, but he sadly survives

Mediators were first assembled after four clans made to the lake, after the rebellion, and with that, leaders were able to call a more private meeting between other each other accompanied by a mediator and one medicine cat (in case they had an omen). The meeting could only happen once a moon, at the end of the month (while gathering took part at the start, and half-moon meeting.. well, during the half on the month).

Then, they are able to discuss matters between their clans more peacefully, including borders, prey or changes to the code. It's not uncommon for only two leaderd arrange such meeting (like Onestar did with Leopardstar, to raid ThunderClan), but it's usually frowned upon.

I can't think currently of the first mediators, but at the end of AU AVOS ThunderClan had Briarlight and Jayflight, WindClan had Heathertail, SkyClan still had Tree. Not sure about the other two clans yet.

Mediators are still considered warriors and are trained normally, but upon becoming a mediator, they arw advised not to take part in battles but are allowed to hunt, patrol and guars camps. They also receive small medicine training.

there is way too many sectors of 'StarClan'

- Highest StarClan: Judges and Their most devoted followers, they monitor everything living clans and lower StarClan do, rarely interact with the living unless it's important or they want to (usually to punish them, in contrast of regular StarClan wanting to help them). It consist of: Moth Flight, Spottedleaf, and few others.

- Regular StarClan: the one that is more canon-like, where there is no borders, cats live as they please, they can interact with living cats, give them guidance and prohecies, but it's often monitored by Judges. It consist of: most deceased cats.

- SkyClan Ancestors: they broke off regular and highest StarClan after original SkyClan was forced to leave the forest, at first it was ruled by Clear Sky, but then he rejoined Clan Founders, and instead Cloudstar took the lead.

- Ancients and The Tribe of Endless Hunting: technically apart of StarClan, but share borders with them, and often their business interfere with one another. Led by Rock and Half Moon.

- Founders: group consisting only the original clan founders, they very rarely interact with living clans and other groups, somehow they are even above Judges but keep their presence hidden most of the time. It consist of: Tall Shadow, River Ripple, Thunder, Clear Sky, Wind Runner and Gray Sky.

WindClan and RiverClan were most affected by Darktail, with WindClan being attacked first and forced to take refuge in ThunderClan, and the RiverClan being taken over as rogue's 'main hideout'

they did later rebuild, but plenty cats died and it made more sense that some ThunderClan and ShadowClan cats switched places (and the code changes a lot but we get to it. and of course not everyone is happy about it, which leads to the next arc)

Sol is some sort of... weird entity like Rock and Midnight. while he was born normal like in canon, after meeting Midnight and learning about eclipse.

i like the idea of him being some time traveler or controlling time (a la “Butterflies and Hurricanes”, it’s a great fanfic btw) but also MORE, and posing more real threat that canon (canon Sol is really funny, don’t get me wrong, but i want to go batshit wild with my AU)
