My babies.❤️💗❤️💗 The reasons why I get to wear the "mommy badge" 🏅with pride, joy and honor. There's nothing easy about motherhood -- It's not meant to make you feel like a superwoman or superhero. Quite often I feel like I'm treading water 💦 and fumbling my way through with Jesus on speed dial to guide me. The concept of "superwoman" seems to fictionalize and downplay a role that is arguably the hardest and most important role that exists on earth. If the job came with a cape than anyone would be able to do it... and without any flaws. But I know it takes a special kind of woman to be a great and dedicated MOTHER -- flaws and all. It's the best job on earth. Thank you mommy for being my great example, and thanks to my babies for picking me from Heaven. Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful moms. For all my mommies with little ones, I stumbled across these beautiful bibs/aprons by @bapronbaby a few days ago and they already arrived today. I ❤️❤️❤️them!! The fabric, the patterns, the detail and quality. I ❤️ that my Punkie can't pull it off because of the unique tie back (which she loves to do), and get food all over her clothes. December 31, 2015: Happy New Year! ... Black Eye Peas Style

It's about to go down! Every year I bring in the New Year with a yummy slow cooked pot of black eye pea stew. I actually hated black eye peas as a child, but as an adult I not only enjoy my stew, but I appreciate the tradition. Black eye peas are as much a part of my New Year's Eve celebration as church, good wine, good movies, great company, happy music, and gourmet cheese and crackers. :) Happy New Year! #blackeyepeas #tradition #loriskitchen

December 29, 2015: My New Webseries

As a new mom, it's not easy trying to find the balance between work, family, and creative. I'm an author and a filmmaker, and time management and energy has become my biggest challenge... especially since motherhood set in. This month, a very good friend of mine talked me into committing to his writing and production team for a new webseries starting in 2016... in another state! As if I wasn't frazzled enough. LOL! But I can't let the team down, and more importantly, I don't want to let myself down. This will be a great way for me to get back on the writing saddle and continue to grow and improve as a writer and overall filmmaker. So when my friends try to help get me motived and get my creative juices flowing, I'm always appreciative. I'm super excited to be a part of the writing team for this Chicago-based web-series. December 25, 2015: Punkie's 1st Christmas! Well, kinda.

I've been waiting all year to share the Christmas experience with my baby girl. Christmas music, a beautiful tree and decorations all lit up, lots of family, Christmas pajamas (for all of us) cookies for Santa, and yes, the gifts under the tree. We tried to give her the complete experience. Last Christmas, Punkie was only 2 months old so I'm sort of counting this as her 1st Christmas. Ok, so I realize that this was more for me than for her, considering she won't remember any of this. However, I'm setting things up for a "Lee Christmas Tradition". Holidays are all about family and traditions -- traditions that were handed down, and traditions that you start for your own kids. I didn't go into any stores for holiday shopping. I did everything strictly online. It worked well for everything except her play kitchen which was over a week late. That stressed me out a bit, but my husband helped to snap me back into the holiday spirit. It was fun to watch Punkie finding her way through all the Christmas cheer, and watching my handsome husband play Santa for the first time. He and my dad did a great job working in Santa's shop, putting everything together. But I should note that all the toys we thought would be a big hit she hardly touched. Her favorite 2 gifts weren't even from Mr. And Mrs. Santa. They were gifts from one of her Godmothers (the Vtech train pictured) and a fisher price lion piano from 2 of her cousins. Punkie's 1st Christmas is officially over (again). Here's another one for the "great job mommy" box. Happy Holidays! 😘🎄🎁

November 30, 2015: Giving Thanks

We give thanks today and everyday for our God is an awesome God. What are you thankful for? We spent our Thanksgiving surrounded by lots of family in this beautiful beach-side mansion in the outer banks of North Carolina. Punkie finally met some of her cousins, the food was in abundance, there were plenty of activities for the kids, the bar for us much bigger kids was stocked, the view was incredible, and the laughs were never-ending. Last Thanksgiving, Punkie was only a month old. I was still in lots of pain and extremely tired, so cooking was not an option. Luckily, my family came to us. They cooked, cleaned and gave thanks with us at our home. A true blessing. This year, it was nice to be able to take that road trip with my daughter and husband (our first road trip!!! Yay!) 🚗 👪 This was a great weekend! I hope that your Thanksgiving was just as blessed. #happythanksgiving #family #FamiLEE #friends #health #home #food
