As luck would have it, Daniel was actually unoccupied at the moment, simply taking a moment to relax before returning to any sort of work duty when the call over the comm. Brother? That could be Bradley reporting in, but an impatient caller did not sound like him. At least, unless it was quite urgent-
Did something horrible happen to keep J.R. from reappearing on the radar? Surely not, the man was far too stubborn to drop off for good, wasn’t he? Or maybe not-
He wasted no time putting distance between points A and B and getting to see Radar- “What’s happened, is it Bradley?” A normally stoic man with genuine concern on his face was sure to be a startling sight. “Is anyone hurt?”
“Oh, uh, he’s coming. He’s here.” Radar quickly spoke into the phone and stood up holding it out for the surgeon. When it wasn’t taken he tried to not let his disapointment show, and then was spurred into action by the open fear and distress on the man’s face.
Admiral King never looked so....afraid. He did his job, he moved on. Rarely socialized or engaged most of the others in conversation, even the officers. Though Radar had noticed that he kept close to one of the other medical officers. “I don’t believe so.” Was the answer, but just to confirm it, Radar got back on the line with the man. “Is this Bradley?” He asked, and immediately had to jerk the phone away again. “No, Sir. I believe he saw him recently though. He sounds angry.”
Once the line had quieted down the second question was voiced. “No, nobody’s hurt. Although, he did add ‘yet’ to the end.”
Rarely did incoming calls have someone all the way back home in the States on the other end. Even more rare was that person drunk. Not slightly intoxicated, flat drunk. The operator had choice words for the company clerk of the 4077, who’s face was beginning to turn shades of red even before the call was connected.
“MASH 4077.” Radar greeted in his best polite tone. He quickly held the receiver out away from his ear with a wince. “Uh, Sir I can’t- “ more drunken sputtering sounded and he had to remove it again. “Sir if you just - I can’t - you want who?” The poor clerk switched the receiver over to his other hand, then propped it against his shoulder so he could try to write down what was being said. “I’m sorry Sir, we don’t have anyone here named That Bastard.”
Wrong thing to say apparently as that just prompted the guy on the other end to get louder. Finally, finally he got a name. “Yes sir, yes. I’ll page him.” Radar thumbed on the loudspeaker “Um Admiral King pleas come to the phone. Your brother is on the line and he’s not patient.”

❝ Look, I might be the only guy in here who’s actually killed a man.❞ (Hogan for Hawkeye?)
“News flash Colonel, this is an Army hospital, there’s a lot of boys coming through here who’ve had to kill someone.” A beat later he rounded back on the man and added snappily, “Not that it’s anything to be proud of.”
