It’s so weird hearing David Ogden Stiers’ actual voice in interviews

His voice skills are amazing. When they first cast him as Charles, they had no idea he could put on a Boston accent. Then, when he showed them, his accent was so perfect that they had to ask him to tone it back a fraction to make sure all audiences would be able to understand him (apparently the Boston accent is difficult to understand for some Americans?). He toned it back a fraction to the accent we know and love, and not once did he miss the mark during filming. He was always perfect.

Charles speaks with a Boston Brahmin accent, which is quite different than the regular working class Boston accent.
