Being anti sex-work is such a white rad fem bullshit thing. Like I love my job. I get paid so much more money than I eva would have without it & it's so gross when people who aren't SWs and call themselves feminists are anti something that they've never experienced. It's like how white rad fems ignore POC because none of the issues directly effect them. The only way to be pro-woman is to be pro legal SW so we have all the rights of every other job &minimize trafficking
I don’t know what the context of this ask is because I haven’t talked about this in a long time but I am completely against the sex and porn industries and you won’t convince me that’s a “"white”“” thing when Nigerian women are being trafficked and forced into prostitution in Italy and the rest of western Europe, when the sex industry in east asia was built buy colonialism and orientalism, when the us (and other western) military pushes millions of women in occupied territories into extreme poverty which leaves them more vulnerable to traffickers and forcing women into prostitution as there is little (or no) other way to survive in war torn countries. All of this contributes to the sex industry / sex tourism so no, being against such industries is not a “"white”“ thing and if you’d read the work of nonwhite radical feminists / postcolonial feminists you’d know that. I will always prioritise the safety and wellbeing of women forced into the sex industry (especially those from nonwestern countries) over the small minority of women who are there by "choice” (even this is arguable because economic coercion.) To be pro woman is to eliminate the economic coercion which forces women into such industries to survive and the colonialist exploitation of nonwhite and/or nonwestern women and their countries.

shakespeare’s use of tragedy is different from the classical; what makes him care about his tragic characters is not that they are good, as greek protagonists fundamentally are, but that they might have been.

the dreaded first post
hello!
this is a sideblog i’ll be starting as i start a new life overseas in south korea. i’ll be working on jeju island, in jeju city, as an english teacher in a small, lovely hagwon catered to students from international schools, or aspiring to attend international schools (there are several on the island). i’m incredibly excited about all of this! my boss is amazing, life in jeju sounds exactly like what i’m looking for, and my work schedule will allow ample time to really build a life for myself on the island. i studied abroad in seoul for a year and while i love that city a LOT, this job has everything i could ever want, despite teaching efl not being my “dream” career path (though, obviously, something i want to do).
i’m a writer, and i hope to do quite a bit of that both on this blog and in my own personal down time. i will also be uploading vlogs! stay tuned. i’d love to become a resource for others looking to teach on jeju, since there really isn’t much info out there readily available (everyone i’ve talked to has been quite friendly, however, so no worries there).
here’s to adulting and beginning the expat life i’ve been dreaming about since high school!
hey tumblr!!!!! i’m moving!!!! in like a month!!!! to jeju island!!!! i’ll be blogging over on this sideblog so hmu
i cannot believe “if it fits, i sits” transcends boundaries in this way
life update (this is mikayla if you remember that name) i'm going back to korea soon and i'm sorta nervous but mostly excited to get back to the city i love for a night on the town with my girls my plan is teach for a year since i've wanted to since i was like 14, go to grad school, start my business and teach again eventually as a professor if i decide to go for a phd. music and writing are my passions so that's my focus. we'll see where life takes me! stoked for all that lies ahead. byeee.
