Aloise Arnaud — "The Butcher Nurse"
"A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down, makes the medicine go down…"
Aloise Arnaud, sometimes referring to herself as Nurse Arnaud, is a Prime Asset and one of the antagonists in The Outlast Trials. She likes to act as though she is a member of the Sinyala Facility staff. Therefore, as a precaution, her uniform has been altered, and she is kept always dirty (and not allowed to have her uniform washed). She embodies the "older sister" of the Prime Asset family.
Appears in Issue 8 of The Murkoff Collections, which details Dr. Hendrick Joliet Easterman's interrogation (during which he only appears by television screen) of a nurse who was working at the hospital where Aloïse also worked at the time. The Murkoff Corporation compensated this "spy" handsomely in return for her getting close to Aloïse, whom Doctor Easterman had a keen interest in after receiving a disconcerting letter from her in which she desperately made her case as to why she should be hired to work at Sinyala as a nurse. Aloïse shared an incredible amount of gruesome detail about her personal life and crimes with this anonymous woman, all of which were relayed to Easterman in this interrogation. Upon Aloïse's relocation to Sinyala, she was interviewed by Doctor Easterman for what she believed was a real nursing position. After the conclusion of this "interview," she was knocked out with toxic gas and inducted into the Prime Asset program.
Aloïse is highly unstable, going from being kind, docile, and even shy; to flying into a blind rage, shrieking at Reagents who enter her line of sight; before beginning to cry upon losing them. He is unhinged and holds no regard for the lives of the Reagents, sustaining herself by consuming their corpses raw after she slaughters them. Interestingly, she seems to see herself as a somewhat benevolent figure, telling Reagents that she "just wants to help"; however, this could simply be a manipulation tactic. She also attempts to reassure Reagents as she executes them, saying it will "only sting for a second," before decapitating them or splitting their heads in two.
Outside of the trials, though, Aloïse treats personnel and other Ex-Pop with kindness, being chipper when spoken to and not resisting treatment. She is overly friendly with the nurses when getting the chance to speak to them, as she still believes that they are her coworkers. She is, however, deeply insecure, finding herself extremely ugly and commenting on this in her dialogues. Despite this fact, she also possesses a talent for seduction, beguiling her victims into returning to her home so she could sadistically torture and kill them.
