when someone asksĀ āwhy bts?ā, iāve always gotten a little flustered and am not always sure what to say. not because i canāt think of reasons, but because iāve essentially just been asked on the spot to open my heart and write a novel about its contents, to summarise them into words that are inadequate representations of those feelings. they donāt know that when they ask, of course. to them, itās a simple question with a simple answer, because if you donāt know bangtan, you donāt understand the complexity and depth, or know that they are anything but simple. the reasons i, and all of us, love bangtan, arenāt easy to pick out as individual traits because they are all so interwoven with one another: they live their art and their art is wholly and entirely them, and they paint us into this picture of who they are and what they dream about, and we become them and they become us, and we feel as if we were meant to be there all along, like a family. in a lot of cases we answerĀ āwhy bts?ā with something likeĀ ābecause of the musicā,Ā ābecause they make me laughā,Ā ābecause of their bondā, but in reality the answer is all of the reasons why saying any of these things never quite feels like enough. bts, you deserve all the world and more. happy seven years, babies!
