ok. Read through most of that fan made behind the scenes stuff.
First try and I already made an accurate choice đ¤ to be vague-ish, making my own AU based after the Miraculous pitch bibles and show itself. My AU Felix is gonna have Luka as a best friend, while my AU Marinette has Allegra as a best friend. Chose them because they actually seem to be useful. Turns out Allegra is a lot like Alya, and Luka is similar to one of the prototype Ninos. Maybe Iâll let Alya and Nino still exist in the background, but I really find her existence unnecessary. But thatâs just because I plotted it out differently. All that mastermind puzzle chess games crap doesnât work with the magic system I rewired. Plus the villains, plus the powers. Anyway, was just trying to figure out who Felixâs friends could be⌠with boy-ish hobbies (and could only think of one character. Because iâm replacing Nino, but I canât deal with his comedic relief-ness) (thought of some friends for Felix but most of them are girls⌠and girly. The writers made it seem like Adrien needs a casual boyish friend so⌠thatâs the best amount I can figure out). For Marinette, she doesnât technically need a new best friend character, Alya wouldâve still been fine. I just think Melodieâs powers seem more potential interesting, and they do sorta the same thing? The Quantic kids seemed scrapped for good reason and tbh, I donât really need it either, but thatâs food for thought. Their powers are still mostly useless enough for Ladybug to defeat the villain all by herself, or with Chat Noir.
Almost forgot to mention: the Miraculous movie also has a scene in a church, which is similar to what I think is happening jn the PV storyboard. Even the gargoyle looking monster, and the confused humor.
So the iteration the Miraculous PV anime short trailer took inspiration from seems to be the 1st and 2nd pitch bibles from 2011 and or 2012 July.
I got a very different impression from the animation versus from what Iâm reading in the pitch bibles. For one thing, the cane and disability part doesnât seem to exist in the anime short. I assumed the powers come from nowhere but the idea that all the miraculouses have to be given up or given back is kinda⌠endgame. Like, once itâs over, itâs finished. No sequel future whatever. UnlessâŚ? Unless they just, let some people keep them. HmâŚ
I gained a newfound appreciation for Season 1. They actually got to doing some of the things they wanted to do in the pitch bible, even if it wasnât as often as they wanted. I noticed âBubblerâ was episode 1. Hahah. Classic Thomas Astruc! I actually a while ago-ish watched the first few episodes of W.I.T.C.H. and was appalled by the perspective of the camera angle and panelling⌠then the credits rolled by and it said âDirector: Thomas Astrucâ and it all made sense đ I also saw a few later season episodes of W.I.T.C.H., btw, was vastly better. Anyway, the genius behind making âStormyweatherâ the first episode instead, being anyone else besides Astruc, wouldnât surprise me.
My opinion is that Season 6 Miraculous movie artstyle is better quality, but some YT short mentioned the fight scenes. From what clips Iâve seen, they traded looks quality for fight quality.
Reading the PV Miraculous Pitch bibles: 2nd version
Ooooooooo Alix was a a mean girl lacky for Chloe in the 1st bible, but sheâs Adrienâs friend in the second. I like this idea. I always felt like the episode with Alix getting akumatized with time rollerskate powers, the fact that Adrien of all people cared to not break her family heirloom a lot more than anyone else did, is pretty friendship special. Even if it was just in response to make Chloe look more like a jerk.
Damn, all of Adriens potential friend bonds :/ a reviewer from a recent Season 6 episode talked about how Adrien getting jealous and mad at Nino (illusion fake) cheating shows how little he trusts and even cares about his friends, and how little it seems Adrien has good relations with anyone besides Marinette. His designated emotional rock.
Reading the PV Miraculous Pitch Bibles:
2nd version: Okay so the Kwamis and the Akumas work on a separate magic system. The orb holds akumas, while the miraculouses are itâs own magic system.
I watched a review of the Miraculous movie and they mentioned the clashing information we get from Nooroo and the beginning. Master Fu says the Akuma butterflies are evil, but then Noorooâs appearance in the song musical number is the version that isnât evil but neutral. Not to mentiom the first pitch bible had all kwamis grant the masters wishes, making them bend their morality to fit whomever. Now, it seems based on the version that separates the magic systems, but it utilizes the official released showâs version where the butterflies are just another miraculous instead.
Theory: whomever created the Miraculous Ladybug movie read through either one, or a few, or all the pitch bibles to create it.
Reading the PV Miraculous pitch bible:
2nd one: So Plagg is meant to cause many problems for Adrien that he has to take care of đ¤ the only time I remember this being the case or being used is the episode where Chloe loses her fancy bracelet. While Adrien has to hide the real culprit⌠since itâs Plagg. It makes for a good plot drive conflict, I think it was a waste to practically scrap it.
I remember the scene a lot because it feels like it actually focuses on Adrien and Plagg, a perspective we get noticably less and less time to see the more the show goes on.
xD itâs funny to see the âsee in the darkâ superpower ability be brought up since itâs been pointed out⌠Chat Noir uses Night Vision ONCE (in Lady Wifi episode) and it never shows up again ever xd (though i think i heard it recently showed up one more time but idk).
PV Miraculous Pitch bible revealing: Alya had a crush on Chat Noir!
They used something like that as a plotline when Nino became akumatized! Which required Rena Rouge to set in, because it was a lie. Making fun of your own ideas, arenât we?
If you think about it⌠Canon show Plagg is Felix. If you like Plagg? Then you like PV Miraculous Felix.
PV Miraculous pitch bible even explains why Plagg is so annoying đ He takes up Felixâs/Adrienâs personality when he was a meanie because kwamis reflect their owner. That context is taken away when they remade Adrienâs personality for the show.
Plus they posses objects; so there is no magical specific accessory. It says Plagg possesed Felixâs ring, and it said signet, as in family heirloom i guess. Makes sense then, that his name is Sphinx.
I also noticed thereâs a Miraculous game with the word Sphinx used. Wonder why they used the word? đ¤ to make the search for the pitch bible more harder and confusing?
Oh my gosh Sublime is the creators making up for the fact that they initially wanted to give Adrien a leg disability đ also why sheâs his best friend now in the canon show đ¤ sheâs the part of Adrien that tore off from him. Thatâs why sheâs blonde! đą
Okayyyyyy found the PV Miraculous pitch bible. Official Non-Official fan gathered website, cool!!!
Oh woooowww another meta behind the scenes work? I am just drawn to this stuff like moths to a flame đ
Okay so it actually explains how Ladybug gets her miraculous. I was right! The movie did do the pawn shop! But when i first saw the unfinished storyboard, I thought it was an old attic. It also explains how Adrien/Felix is meant to get his miraculous too, that being the scrapped plotline of Marrinette releasing all the miraculouses unintentionally, giving her a fetch quest motivation rather than the akuma situation. I see now why it being scrapped idea causes a lot of context issues that is poorly filled in by the akuma solution. I also see that Marinette was always meant to be the primary holder of all the miraculouses from the start.
Personally, i think using the trope âdisabled person gains superpowers to overcome their disabilityâ is a bit offensive or something idk. So, PV Miraculous scrapping the idea was a good choice.
Now he becomes Chat Noir to escape his abusive father, and not from being disabled + abusive father.
I like that PV Felixâs Chat Noir form gets a longer hair that reminds me of a lionâs mane. Heâs a cat but lions are related. It actually reminds me of Loke from the Fairytail anime, who uses the lion mane motif more noticeably intentionally.
Okay more to add: The Miraculous Movie also includes a âloner bookworm library Adrianâ which is very PV Felix coded/subtext.
The New York special added the superhero âMercuryâ who is apparently apart of the Quantic kids? According to this one Youtube short I watched but Iâm not sure itâs accurate. Baseline though, he was meant to be apart of the superhero team line up. (Robin obviously, apart of the pitch bible too).
Havenât seen Season 6 yet but the villain organization thingy sounds familiar.
