Alien hand syndrome (AHS) is an extremely rare neurological disorder which causes hand movements with the afflicted person having no control over the movements. Sometimes, the afflicted person needs to use their other hand to restrain the alien hand, particularly if it is causing harm. In most cases, the afflicted person has had some kind of brain condition. Many describe is as the hand having a mind of its own.
Located in Tokyo, Japan, Alcatraz ER is a bizarre prison themed restaurant. Waitresses dresses as nurses and armed with handcuffs lead the patrons to a cell where they then take their order through the cell bars. The restaurant has a myriad of horror related drinks and meals, including cocktails served in syringes out of a severed mannequin head. In addition to the food, the restaurant also puts on obscure shows that aren’t for the faint of heart. Diners are often pulled from their cell by creepy clowns where they are then “experimented” on, often with fake penises or fake syringes.

20-year-old Gregory Canatis lived in an apartment in Midwest City, Oklahoma, with his 41-year-old father, Theodore Canatis. When neighbours hadn’t seen or heard from Theodore in several days, police were called to check up on him on 5 May, 1977. After they knocked the front door and nobody answered, they broke it down and were met by a horrific scene. The apartment was covered in blood and inside the refrigerator, they discovered a pair of severed hands and human muscle. In a skillet on the stove, they found dismembered body parts and flesh.
After searching for several hours for either Gregory or Theodore, they came across a dazed looking Gregory, walking around aimlessly outside. He was escorted to the police station where he confessed to stabbing his father to death before dismembering him and cooking him, adding that he didn’t want to waste “good meat.” Gregory announced to the stunned officers that his father “tasted good… like steak.“ A psychiatric evaluation determined that Gregory was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia and dropped all charges against him because he was unable to stand trial due to being mentally incompetent. He was transferred to the Norman Mental Hospital where he essentially disappeared - patient’s status in the mental health system is kept from the public. For years, nobody knew what became of Gregory. It was assumed that he remained locked up indefinitely.
However, as it transpired, he was temporarily released in 1995 and was working as a grocery bagger in a local convenience store. When the district attorney caught wind of this, he questioned whether he was now competent to face trial on the murder charge. Shortly afterwards, Gregory was sent back to Norman Mental Hospital where he shall remain institutionalised for the rest of his life.
Lena Baker was willing to take any job possible to support her three children. In the 1940s, she was hired by a white grist mill owner called Ernest Knight, who needed a maid and carer to look after him while he was recovering from a broken hip.
Knight was abusive towards Baker and often held her against her will. On 30 April, 1944, Knight locked Baker up inside the grist mill and tried to force her to have sex with him. He then produced a metal pipe and began to beat Baker. She managed to grab Knight’s gun and defend herself, shooting Knight dead in the process. She escaped and immediately alerted the authorities of what had happened. Regardless of this, during a time of racial segregation and suppression of African American rights in Georgia, she was found guilty by an all white, all male jury, and sentenced to death.
On 23 February, 1945, she entered the execution chamber. Her final words were: “What I done, I did in self-defense, or I would have been killed myself. Where I was I could not overcome it. God has forgiven me. I have nothing against anyone. I picked cotton for Mr. Pritchett, and he has been good to me. I am ready to go. I am one in the number. I am ready to meet my God. I have a very strong conscience.”
In 2005 it was determined that her execution was unjust and she was granted a posthumous pardon, 60 years after she was executed.
I talked to a young man with white hair on a boat cabin in the middle of a stormy sea. He forgot everything about himself exept for the fact that his name rhymed with ‘Time’ so he started calling himself Time.

On February 10, 1998, a maintenance worker noticed a foul smell coming from an apartment on East Kentucky Avenue in Glendale, Colorado. He decided to investigate, and that’s when he found a body, surrounded by a large sum of cash. There had been evidence of drug paraphernalia. He was found wearing a bright blue t-shirt with “WORLDWIDE NETWORK/ 1019 NGX 2397” written on it, and beige shorts. The man alerted authorities, who continued the investigation. The unidentified male, known as Arapahoe County John Doe or Glendale John Doe, was a Hispanic male between the ages of 25 and 30, stood at 5′8″ (172 cm), weighed 196 pounds (88 kg), and had black hair and brown eyes. His hair was described as thick and curly. He had two tattoos, one on his right arm of an owl with the word “OWL” above it, and a tattoo described as “illegible” on his left arm consisting of a circular hyperpigmented area.
While alive, John Doe had numerous contacts with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). At the time, however, it was called the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). The images that are shown came from his contacts with immigration officers throughout the years. He also used numerous false identities, which included Diego Perez, S. Franco, and Julio Costa-Laso. He used a fake ID card from Texas under the name Diego Perez with the date of birth June 10, 1970. It is unknown what country he came from, but he has never been identified. The Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe is arguably one of the most influential Gothic writers of the last century. He has become a symbol of horror and mystery not only in his work, but also in his death. On October 3rd, 1849, he was found delirious and wandering the streets of Baltimore, Maryland. A witness from the time reported that Mr. Poe was “In great distress and in need of immediate medical assistance” although nobody was quite sure what was wrong with him. He was rushed to hospital where medics worked around the clock to find a solution to the author’s state. After a short stay in hospital, Edgar Allan Poe died at 5 a.m. on the 7th of October.
Many theories surround his mysterious death, although none can be proven. Suicide, murder, the flu, syphilis, even rabies are all likely explanations as to how Poe died. Many newspapers reported that he had died from an “inflammation of the brain” after rumours from hospital staff emerged. One particularly dark theory dating from 1872 suggests that cooping was the cause of Poe’s death, a form of electoral fraud in which citizens were forced to vote for a particular candidate, sometimes leading to violence and even murder. To this day, his death remains unsolved.
After Richard Chase was found guilty of six brutal murders in Sacramento, he wrote a bizarre 10-page letter to Municipal Court Judge Carol Miller in which he asked for a second physical examination to detect any signs of poisoning. He claimed that his mother had slowly been poisoning him with soap for a number of years. He explained that he began to slaughter animals and drink their blood in an attempt to cure himself, later progressing to humans. The letter said:
“As a young boy, I was slowly poisoned by my mother till I was 20. The poisoning caused construction of my inner metabolism, retarding my growth, making it impossible to lead a normal life. She poisoned me with doses of dish soap every day.”
The judge denied his request for a second physical examination. Chase would commit suicide just two years later.
