Today we commemorate June 10th 1580, Dia de Portugal.🇵🇹 Although it is on this day Luís de Camões pasted away, it celebrates his work on the Portugal’s national poem, Lusíadas and his adventures around the globe. The poem outlines the rich history of the nation’s people and the incredible diverse landscape that is Terra de Portugal. Assim enceramos nossa inteligência mortal imortalmente brilhante pela longa experiência liderada, o guia mais verdadeiro do homem; e assim a alma verá, da altura celestial, o labirinto da mesquinhez e do orgulho humano: quem governar sua vida pela luz da razão que enfraquece a paixão, nunca tem poder para esconder; subirá (como deve ser a ascensão que ele deve) a honra verdade, maugre sua vontade que nunca se inclinou para processar. Thus wax our mortal wits immortal bright by long Experience led, Man's truest guide ; and thus the soul shall see, from heavenly height, the maze of human pettiness and pride : Who shall rule his life by Reason-light which feeble Passion ne'er hath power to hide, shall rise (as rise he ought) to honour true, maugre his will that ne'er hath stoop'd to sue.
