aren't you the guy that's going to be in between my legs tonight?
— ❝ Well, well, well. It seems like I've been discovered. ❞
I still repeat the things you said to me in my head
(via picsaremyeverything)
「In Sevilla, there's trouble. 」 — A / H
"Ah, I see" she mumbles, instantly regretting what she asked. The atmosphere suddenly turned awkward, quiet and overall- dark.
"Smuggling drugs," she says, testing how many sarcastic remarks she can make. "Just kidding, visiting a friend who studies here," Amber concludes.
"And it’s better than staying at home and being rotted away by boredom. Also, staying in one city isn’t my thing."
As the two conversed on, she ordered some lemon sorbet. A sweet dessert with an enlightening conversation.
❝ Friend? I didn't know you had an acquaintance in Spain. ❞ He puts down his freshly brewed coffee & intertwines his fingers, looking at her.
He could understand where's she's coming for. Boredom has killed more people than actual illnesses.
Hangil chuckles a little. It's strange, how life works. Just yesterday night he wondered about what she's doing. If she's fine, if she misses him.
Common stuff.
But he's glad to know he has his partner in crime besides him.
「In Sevilla, there's trouble. 」 — A / H
"Perfectly understandable, people spill things. Not like I would judge them or anything," Amber scoffs and teasingly smiles at the victim of her sarcastic remark. "So how did that happen anyways, old man Hangil,” she inquires.
After the whole coffee spilling incident, the two finally got settled in. Eventually, the small cafe got calmer and the girl was able to process her thoughts resulting in the curious side of Amber to go wild.
Sipping the coffee, she asks “So why are you here? You’re not like some criminal who fled here because you committed some crazy murder, right,” and ends her short ramble with an exaggerated expression and widened eye.
After processing her storm of words, the girl was aware that maybe she had gone a bit overboard. "No, but seriously. Why are you here?"
He turns his head, staring at the crowded street, finding it burdening to look into her eyes.
❝ Cowardice. ❞
Indeed. He ran with his tail between his legs, he, who face harsher storms, he who ate his heart once in order to succeed, fled the fuck away & ended up in Venice, now Spain. Another country following soon.
❝ Besides, I always wanted to visit Spain. ❞
Hangil gives her, or himself, not sure, a smile. He suddenly realises that while his staying here can be explained, hers cannot.
❝ Question is— what is the purpose of you being here? ❞
His heart breaks a little when the thought of her being a fugitive just as he crosses his mind. It takes a lot of shit to make one run & she's the last person he wants to see caring such burden.
Ha. Birds of a feather flock together, right?
「In Sevilla, there's trouble. 」 — A / H
"Looks like you had a little- no, big accident" Amber looks at his soaked clothing, wincing at the burn that was not evident but definitely there.
After getting more napkins for her friend, she teases “Maybe you should try using a straw next time,” expecting a glare or even a shove from the panicking male. After chuckling at her own insult, she realized that it had been awhile since she made fun of somebody. Her sassy side was clearly coming back.
Suddenly, the feeling of emptiness and loneliness was lifted from her chest. After a long period of doing nothing and rolling around at home, she was grateful for encountering a friend in Spain, of all places.
"You didn’t spill that much," the girl said trying to comfort her hurt friend, an obvious white lie.
❝ That's such an obvious lie, B.B. ❞, he laughs taking the empty seat in front of her, nodding towards the waitress for another cup of coffee.
He leans on the back of the seat, head titled slightly to the left as he watches her, a smile growing at the corner of his lips. She didn't change much. Still the same sarcastic girl he left behind in Korea.
Fuck.
There's a fist now, in the place where his heart should be, when he remembers that he didn't leave a thing behind to let the others knows that fucking hell, he didn't end up somewhere dead, he isn't in troubles.
But how could he? How could he have told them that because of a fucking breakup, he needed run away, to fuck it all.
❝ I'm sorry, Amber. This old man is really sorry. ❞
He raises his eyes and locks them with hers, grabbing her hand and giving it a squeeze before letting it fall again in his lap.
「In Sevilla, there's trouble. 」 — A / H
Traveling was Amber’s favorite way to escape from the hustle and bustle of Seoul. Though most of her sojourns took place in equally busy cities, it was always nice to travel to new places and meet new people. Several round of trips to other countries revealed a new charm of hers, she was able to make new acquaintances quick.
Although this was good and all, her acquaintanceship would end quickly and this brought about this new feeling of loneliness in her heart. Maybe she just met people at the wrong time and place, like how it was unlikely, and near impossible, that she would bump into the nice barista from the airport.
Thinking about the barista made her thirsty and a new craving for coffee started to take place in both her mind and stomach. There was a Starbucks nearby, according to her touristy map, but she would much rather enjoy a cup of coffee at an authentic, small and cozy cafe.
Just like magic, she turned the corner to find a perfect place. It wasn’t too crowded, to her surprise since it was the busiest time of the day- lunchtime. Dusting off her Spanish skills, she managed to order a cup of espresso. With a sigh of relief she took her seat, embarrassed and guilty for making the obviously native waiter listen to her horrible Spanish. At least she was able to admit that she was bad.
Half through her “cup of happiness”, a shout, and a profanity, from the outside of the cafe startled her. To her surprise, it was quite recognizable. From the inside of the building, she tapped the glass that bordered her and the source of the voice. The male turned and Amber grinned, realizing that it was her friend Hangil.
This isn't his day. Totally not his day, he concludes as he finds himself jumping from on foot to another, a buffoon in modern times as some coffee got to places no such thing should reach under no circumstances.
Frantically looking for a napkin, or anything for that matter to wipe himself with he turns around and —
Fuck him sideways with a bee, hi there friend. Fancy seeing you here — not.
Of course, in other situations, he would have been ecstatic to see any of his old acquaintances randomly on the streets of a foreign country, but this is not the kind of meeting he wish they'd had.
Seeing however some of the desired objects on her table, he makes a run for it, almost tripping over his own legs and falling face flat on the pavement — wouldn't that have been quite the sight? — and quickly takes some, speaking in between wipes.
❝ Hi Bear Bear, fuck, no no no, not in there —bloody! What a surprise! ❞
Not. His. Day.
「In Sevilla, there's trouble. 」 — A / H
Hangil takes in a deep breath, smile on his face as he moves his right left to the beat of the music coming from down the road, a carnival, he supposes, taking place.
Spain. Sandy beaches, welcoming water, calling for her sons to come back to her bosom. What more can you wish for?
❝ Aquí esta su taza de café, señor. ❞
❝ Gracias ❞
He nods his head, thankful all of a sudden for the mandatory Spanish classes he had to take while in high school, and takes a careful sip of his awaited coffee, trying not to burn his tongue and make a fool out of himself in front of so many people.
It is definitely strange, tiring even, to flee from country to country in such a small span of time, but what is he supposed to do? Running away is the only choice he has.
There's a storm inside of him kept captive by his bones that's threatening to break this cage of meat and come upon whoever. Friends and enemies included.
Hangil shakes his head, shooing away his thoughts that are not welcomed today, not here with the sun shining on him and people laughing, joy filling his heart as eyes bash in the beauty this old city holds, old and modern at the same time.
But one moment is admiring the view and the other he's up on his feet, hissing at the sudden liquid burning at his skin, shirt dress clinging to his body like a second skin, not at all wanted at this time of the day.
❝ What the fuck ?! ❞
Please pardon his, ahem, French. He didn't really have in plan to have scorching hot coffee all over himself with so many curious pair of eyes watching the scene that takes place.
❝ You are not welcome here.❞
It shouldn't be surprising to him when he hears these words falling off her lips. It's not a threat but merely an observation, said as if it's an obvious fact, as if there's a tattoo with 'stranger' on his forehead.
It's perhaps her way of saying he should get moving before he gets too attached to this place, before he starts forming bonds with people that are not in search for them.
❝ You shouldn't be here either ❞
She shouldn't. It's 5 am in the morning in the middle of a sinister piazza, only the moon as a source of light. It's not safe, but neither is she, for all he knows. He doesn't care.
It's silent for the rest of his stay, leaning on a brick wall, a half finished beer of bottle in one hand and a bad heart that should've stopped beating a long time ago but still persists, fighting for a reason he doesn't and will never quite understand. There's nothing much left to hope for.
Hangil sighs, pushing himself off the wall, the sound of his footsteps resonating around them like a pained echo as he walks past her.
She waves.
He merely grins.
Venice is for runaways.
✈ Jinri and Hangil
Jinri sat herself down on an empty bench and kicks her legs in irritation. “He never messaged me.. I don’t think he missed me at all.”
As her phone went off she blinked in surprised of how fast he replied. Picking up her phone she reads the message on the lock screen, then a grin started to form on her face.
⊰—txt⊱ MHM YEAH SURE YOU DID tch, where are you?
Placing her phone on her lap she crossed her arms and stared at it while waiting for a reply. “Mm.. did he really miss me?”
He just put on a shirt— kind of smelly, haven't washed it in a while but he's too damned sleepy to look for a clean one in his luggage—when he hears the unfamiliar sound of his phone signaling him he's gotten a message.
Hangil waits no time and answers her as he walks to the mininotreally kitchen his suite came with.
⊰—txt⊱ IN MY APARTMENT WHY
✈ Jinri and Hangil
After her long day of schedules Jinri was excited to see more sides of the world, well, maybe not too far from her work area but still; she was free for now. Slipping on her coat and placing a cap on her head along with a pair of sunglasses she heads out of her office and felt good of what it felt like to finally leave from work. She takes out her phone and checks her messages; none weren’t in her inbox. No one messaged her. “Aish, no one missed me? Hmph..”, she said. A soft sigh escaped from her lips and all she could think about was one person. Him.
Him. Why didn’t he message her? Why didn’t he call her? Did he forget about her?
"That guy.. I swear." She swipes through her contacts and starts texting him; the boy who didn’t call her up when she missed him.
[text] YAH, KIM HANGIL DID YOU NOT MISS ME
The buzz of the device under his pillow, pulls Hangil out of his slumber, hand blindly looking for it. He groans, eyes trying to adjust to the sudden outburst of light coming from it, mind trying to understand whatever the certain pairing of sounds and words mean.
It takes him a while but he gets it, suddenly standing up straight, punching in words of his own, smile on his face and hair a nest.
⊰—txt⊱ OF COURSE I DIDN'T WHAT R U TALKING BOUT
She's always been a favorite of his. A little ray of sunshine kept hostage by a king of darkness, a planet that doesn't deserve her.
He doesn't either.
【3am is for broken】
Shaky hands grab at the sheets, profane organ pumping poison furiously into his body, acid running its course through his vein, little canals of what used to make hope blossom.
A sighs falls off his lips as he swings his legs over the edge of his bed— rather small for a man his height but never was he one to complain too much as long as there was a rooftop over his head to welcome him back whenever everything got too hard to handle— and grabs the pack of cigarettes on the night table, putting on his slippers.
He steps in the balcony, shivering as the wind slams against his body, wife beater doing nothing to cover his skin from its teeth.
With ghastly pale finger, he brings the cigarette up, letting it pass past his lips, immediately taking in a deep drag from it, lungs and throat protesting against it, but giving up a few seconds later as muscles relax, thoughts slipping away from him.
It was rather rushed, his decision to suddenly go away that is, no note or phone call, only an empty apartment left behind and a pissed as fuck family searching for his pathetic ass, for his oh so pity worthy ass that continues to weep because of a heartbreak.
But he had nothing more to be broken.
It didn't matter. In the end, pain always finds something to destroy, to distort, to punish someone for.
Hangil sighs, leaning over the rail of his balcony, left arm pressed against his chest to sustain his weight as the other takes care of the dose of death, eyes looking a the bottom, admiring the gentle sway of a boat in the water, calm, calm, calm.
Not like him.
He's become a bottled storm, all the anger he has harbored for so long finally showing its scars.
The wolf may change its teeth but never his nature, he's sure of it. Running the fuck away from everything wasn't exactly the most graceful of plans, but it was a plan god fucking damn it. It was the only thing stopping him from going the fuck back and breaking their fucking teeth, and really, he'd rather go away with his tail between his legs and head held high than to know their fucking blood, infected and oh so impure, touched his fucking knuckles.
It's funny, really. He was as unmovable as a fucking mountain, he was strong, he was indifferent and here he is, months later, in a fucking country he speaks little of its language, at three fucking am in the morning, tasting his heart breaking on the tip of his tongue yet again.
He shouldn't have been the one to go away. They should be the ones going the fuck away from him, from his wrath. Since when does a king run from the weak?
Hangil runs his fingers through his hair, quickly lightning up another stick of cancer, frustrated, hurt, confused.
Love is just another name for suicide
He knew that, he knew that all too well, he repeated it for years in his mind like a mantra, said it before sleep and in coffee shops, in libraries and in church, he said it whenever he ached for human presence and here he was, here he fucking was, still in love and broken, not much different from other times.
Only this time, he was weaker. Oh yes, he lowered the walls of crushed bones and broken teeth more than before, let him enter in the depths of his soul, let him go further than everyone has ever been and this is the price he has to pay.
Humans.
Aching for heartbreak
in pretty disguises.
There is a pause, as he watches with curious eyes the lights going on, curtains drawn back and suddenly there's a figure standing in front of the window, head titled.
There's a wave of a hand, a slight smile dancing on her lips before she's gone. She's no one he's familiar with or acquaintance, but she's the only person he can recognize the face of in Venice. She's the girl who first offered him a cup of coffee, patting his back, whispering that he has runaway written on his lips.
He doesn't return the gesture, but there's a ghost of a smile on his lips, and really, there's more than enough to put him to sleep.
