When it comes to household names, T’yonna Boswell is well on her way to being just that as the release of her new film ‘Affliction Between Us’ will solidify that status. The Prairie View A&M attendee is a successful youtuber with a steady following, who spends her free time being one of the budding influencers in the Houston and Dallas area. Having already been featured in the Dallas Voyager magazine, Boswell now has her sights set on the independent film world.

‘Affliction Between Us’ was written, directed, and executive produced by Boswell who now looks to continue her momentous movement into the new year. As she tells the delicate story of a young couple dealing with the aftermath of the death of their child. That couple played by Dakarai Henderson and Reyna Janelle as they bring their characters to life with an energy that translates directly from the screen to the audience in this emotional drama.

Boswell’s film explores the idea that there is no correct way to grieve as everyone does it differently. Understanding that we do what we feel we need to make ourselves feel better by any means in certain situations. Some choose to ignore the pain while others rather walk hand in hand with it daily. Shacolby Shentell Entertainment & Choice 1 Media Group ‘Sincerely Judy’ set to release in January as the first original drama short film for 2021

Sincerely Judy is a drama film adaption written and directed by Shacolby Shentell and produced by Shacolby Shentell Entertainment & Choice 1 Media Group. This impactful short film depicts the reality of what is happening in many homes nationwide since the pandemics beginning. Marriages have been suffering and divorce rates are steady rising.

Judy played by Sonja Lowe - The Embrace Coach is a radio personality/life coach who provides counseling on life situations. Soulful, humorous, and wears no filter, Judy gives advice to one of her listeners Michelle Harris played by Reyna Janelle about her current marital issues. Michelle has been married for 10 years and feels like her marriage is over. She is confused on how her and husband, Rashaud Harris played by Turell Robins have lost their love and drive for one another. Faced with sickness in the midst of tribulation, the COVID pandemic has presented nothing, but time to figure out how to either reconcile or let go.  

The Cast

Reyna Janelle is an actress, producer, dancer, and model from Houston, TX who fell in love with the performing arts at a young age. Having initial career aspirations of becoming a physician, Reyna graduated from University of Oklahoma with a BS in Industrial Engineering and from Drexel College of Medicine with a MS in Medical Sciences. However, her career path changed when her mother was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer and she became her caretaker until her passing. After attending the National Black Film Festival in 2019, Reyna realized acting was more than just a passion, it was her divine purpose in life. She then made her professional acting debut as the lead actress in “The Splintered Woman.” Since then she has appeared in several commercial, film, television, and theater productions. Some completed projects include “Rosebud” (semi-finalist – Los Angeles International Film Festival), “Molly’s Diary,” “My Biggest Fan,” and “America.”  During quarantine, she rekindled her first love of theatre by joining Vincent Victoria Presents theatre company.  Reyna has been recognized by her acting coach Renee Rivon to evoke a range of emotions. Turell Robins began his acting career on the stage in early 2018. A native of Houston originally, Robins was raised in Louisiana where his family nurtured an early gift to entertain. Whether through music, acting, or just providing the comedic relief, Turell has always been someone who shines when the bright lights are on. Already with an extensive resume so far, Robins can be seen in multiple stage plays in the Houston area as well as being on your screens. Being fueled by his drive to thrive in this industry, Robins hopes to continue to spread joy as he entertains the world on bigger and bigger stages. All the while encouraging others to follow their dreams as they leap whole heartily into their purpose.

‘Couch Time with Sonja’ Season 5 returns with new limits, purpose and style

Season 5 of ‘Couch Time with Sonja’ is back with a purpose as the grace season returns to shake things up.

Taking it personal this season, the team challenged themselves as well as each other to push the limits in every aspect of the show from its earliest stages in pre-production down to the day to day operations behind the camera. Arriving just in time for the holidays, season 5 premiers the new revamped look as the lovely host Sonja Lowe returns for a warm conversation with her beautiful daughters on leaving the eagles’ nest. The trio never bothering to tip toe around emotions, dove directly into an intimate discussion detailing the pros and cons of helicopter parenting, the open environment that was in their household growing up, plus the trial and error process of realistically raising children in an ever shifting climate. 

Staying true to form, Sonja sought out more opportunities this season to genuinely display how okay it is to be human. Sharing the intricate parts of herself and seeking guests who would contribute whole heartily to that cause. In turn creating a space that would allow for chances to discuss the taboo topics and myths that tend to plague our families and communities in a manner that would give birth to change.

With 2020 finally coming to a much needed close, MCP Network is all but slowing down as preparations are under works for the newest drama series, ‘The SZN’ set to premiere in 2021.

C1MG merges with MCP Network for the ‘I Am Twenty Four’ Documentary

Mo City Stylez Houston Influencer on the Rise

The city of Houston, Texas is one that thrives on the individuality and creativity of its inhabits, constantly cultivating lanes in areas that didn’t exist before by individuals whose passion is only matched by their uniqueness. 

This perfectly describes up and coming stylist and influencer Mahogany J. Terry, or simply Mo if you ask her. A peculiar individual, Mo is someone who most can relate to and few can find grounds to dislike. She has a genuine glow that radiates positivity to all she encounters. When it comes to personal style, she embodies the word with precise precision, defining her own style as more of an expression of self through art. As a stylist, Mo believes each article of clothing down to the shoes provides the wearer with the desired attitude molded by the uniqueness of the outfit. She finds inspiration from various influencers on Instagram and even Houston Rocket’s PJ Tucker, someone she would describe as her sneaker crush, but for the most part her pieces stem from who she is as a person.

A Houston native herself, Mo has always been someone where the words resilient and socially awkward could be used in the same sentence to illustrate her personality. She can subtly command a room with her presence all the while managing to maintain graceful humbles about her. Growing up as a young girl she was more into track suits and sportswear than dresses like her mother would’ve preferred, but it wasn’t until she attended Wiley College where her sense of style gave birth to a different type of freedom. Here she met friends like Brittany Merida, who pushed her limits when it came to just be able to wear anything you wanted. This simple epiphany led down avenues of expression that caught the eye of everyone around her. Making her an influencer amongst her peers before the term was even popular, but with the assistance of social media presently the possibilities are ever growing for the budding brand ambassador. She currently runs her own blog where she barters her platform with different brands that align with her own creativity and style.  A business where networking and partnerships are key, she uses her own distinctive look to continue to grow her following while creating personal looks for brands that can’t be replicated. 

Capturing the eyes of vendors looking to grow their brands while amassing her own following who simply like her swag. Representing for the plus size masculine woman, she boldly takes it personal to be the delegate for this demographic on the commercial level. ‘Family Tithes’ shows how family is stronger together

Since the start of Covid-19, Houston’s music and indie scene has managed to remain relevant during these unquestionably weird times. 

Last night’s release of the anticipated short film, Family Tithes continued that wave as 3D Productionz and Dakarai Henderson delivered with the crafty crime drama. Led by Henderson and an outstanding supporting cast, the film boasted a strong plot and stunning shots that assisted with telling the story. Just as the name suggested, the short film had a central theme of family that rang out in addition to a sense of brotherhood and unity. 

Writer, director, and main character, Dakarai Henderson went for the hat trick with this newly addition and shows the results betrayal against family. Make sure to tune in as things are never what they seem in the fast-paced world of the King Brothers in 3D Productionz, Family Tithes.

Make It Nasty goes public as a entertainment powerhouse

The phrase Make It Nasty is one that can probably be interpreted in quite a few ways with more than one legitimate definition, but Gary, Indiana native Josh Poole and Dallas, Texas local Nick Ward are determined to give you just one. MIN is a fashion line with origins dating back to the early 2010’s, but as time carried on it began to capture the creativity of its designers causing the brand to evolve to so much more. Brandishing bold colors and sporadic designs that stand out in the crowd, MIN began to desire to no longer limit itself to just being a clothing brand. Both Poole and Ward had the vision of not just pushing the limits on fashion, but in life in general. They intertwined their own ideals and morals grounded in going against the grain and standing up for whatever one believes in whole heartily and infused them with MIN. Now the summer of 2020, MIN prepares for its official launch this Friday, July 31st with a short film that creatively depicts everything the brand stands for as well as the futuristic wardrobe that captures most MIN fans initially. 

The short was filmed over a weekend that was sponsored by MIN from the private chef for their models, to housing provided for the entire creative team. The house was made up of models, fashion designers, makeup artist, photographers, videographers, actors, writers and producers all under one roof. Most didn’t know each other upon arrival, but the MIN team provided an environment that was conducive to creativity and freedom which directly translated to the energy when it came to film and shooting that Saturday night. They capped that night off with an after party celebrating a successful shoot and overall achievement of their goals for the short. By the weekends end everyone was exchanging contact information and social media in order to continue further collaborations, which was the idea in the first place. 

MIN went from fashion brand to networking agency all in one weekend, but that was their plan from the beginning. To bridge the gap between others dreams and those obstacles that seem to stop them, while placing like minded individuals in one setting. MIN aims to be the middle ground for those who are seeking to hit the next level by learning how to master the art of using one’s voice as well as their specific form of creativity, MIN wants to show you how to Make It Nasty in your own way.
