girls und panzer is far more tolerable once you figure out it’s just a sports anime but the sport is tank-sized airsoft games.

The basic storyline is that a school is low ranked, the school system is on the rocks and thinking of making cuts, with said low rank school naturally being on the chopping block. In desperate need of a champion, the school revives a sports team as they just got a transfer of a star player from last year’s champions. Despite her own misgivings, having transferred to the school because it didn’t have that sport, she ends up taking up her torch and leading the school to victory, Saving The School!

This is the plotline to several dozen sports anime and school idol anime.

Just don’t mind that the sport involves shooting tanks at each other and the schools dwarf the size of most sci-fi ships

I feel like that graphic misses that Oorai is up for cuts partially because they’re one of the smallest schools, shown here docked next to Saint Gloriana’s.
