We are all globally connected. More than ever in this day and age. I look around my home office, and I probably have at least a dozen countries within arm's reach. Desk and chair from Ikea: Is that Sweden? Maybe, but the materials are probably from elsewhere. Electric bass: "made in Mexico". My favorite brand notebook: Japan, but again, materials could be from elsewhere.
This is obvious. Many, if not most of us, know that a lot of the products we buy in the store are made overseas. We are quite aware but we have no idea what that really means. We live our lives off of the backs of humans. Their labor exploited from across the ocean, while all we do is talk about how prices are going up, and how we could purchase this for less at a Walmart.
And then we have the audacity to talk about how we are "blessed." Are we really? Are we in god's favor? Is that why we are the ones living on stolen land? What did we do be in his favor? What did "they" do to not be? We have been taught to value independence. We can do whatever we want as long as we aren't hurting others. So let me ask you this: are your hands clean?
If your religion does more to divide us than bringing us together, then I think it is time to move on. Being "chosen" is not the flex that you think it is.
Sometimes I imagine an earth made of glass. Would we feel differently if we could watch the breaking of their backs?
