Neither fortresses nor bunkers were thick enough to protect from the sudden unbearable cold and the unending storms. Being one of only few settlements in the icy desert they were located too far from any possible help; most eventually succumbing to the isolation, food shortage, air quality and freezing temperatures.

It’s incredibly upsetting to see that your own people would, without a care in the world, abandon you in the face of an apocalypse.

Resentment and feelings of abandonment make you a susceptible target.
