Is Corteiz sending for Nike? Or is this the foreshadowing of an oncoming collab? 🤔 On Monday evening (16/01/23) onlookers in Central London witnessed an enormous symbol being projected on to the Nike Town building. The symbol was none other than Corteiz's infamous 'Alcatraz' logo beaming for all to see like the bat signal 🦇 Many are speculating that the projector event was a projection of a future CRTZ X Nike collab. That would be.. interesting 😅 ... I wouldn't be too crazy about that ngl. No one asked for it 🤷🏾‍♂️ Whatever the case, I think some are looking too deep into the incident. It seems perfectly reasonable to me that this could simply be @Clint419 letting the world know he has his sights set on surpassing Nike's success and street status 🌍 The fashion titan long ago transcended the world of 'sportswear' into the broader realm of 'lifestyle' and has produced a long list of staples and classic pieces for the streets, including the notorious tech fleece tracksuit and iconic footwear such as Air Force 1s and Air Max 90s👟 What a bar for @CRTZ.RTW to reach for!🔭 Clint is definitely a fan of Nike (if his sneaker collection is any indication), but what most people don't know is Corteiz was actually sued by Nike in 2020, due to the brand's name being too similar to "Cortez", a classic Nike trainer 💫 I'll be covering this lawsuit on the 7igures website soon. @VAgarments is a game changer! Here's why... A classic pair of trainers are an essential component in streetwear, wielding the ability to make or break an outfit. Yet for some reason most #UKstreetwear brands steer clear from producing footwear altogether🙁 I imagine bringing quality kicks to market is a particularly challenging feat (lol 🦶), especially in a space where the sneaker route is the less trodden path👣 Nevertheless, @Alan_VA and @BigVidez, the founders of VA Garments, stepped up to the Challenge and delivered a high quality sneaker that can hold it's own whether sported casually or formally. VA garments has been around since 2009, and has been endorsed by a long and diverse list of celebs over the years. The company originally specialised in all luxury casualwear but recently refocused it's efforts solely towards producing the VA373 sneaker. This move has definitively separated them from the herd and blesses us with an option that's been long overdue - a classic pair of trainers we can call our own. Black History in the making 💐 When I see a link up like this, I see the potential for independently produced Hollywood-level Black cinema. Dame Dash has always been about ownership and independence, whether it was within the music industry or the film industry. And Nicky Slimting has displayed a similar mentality. Both men have a substantial list of film credits for roles including producing, directing, writing, and even acting. Nicky produced both "The Intent" movies and even co-directed "The Intent 2", along with @FemiOyeniran (another force to be reckoned with). Dame used to live in London and always appreciated our culture. It would be groundbreaking if these guys worked together, shared their knowledge and resources, and interlinked networks. Possibilities are endless... Looks like the founders of @ManiereDeVoir and @CRTZ.RTW had a little twitter scuff 🥊 I personally don't like to see it, but I guess these things happen amongst competitive and driven individuals 🤷🏾‍♂️ It all started when Clint retweeted someone insinuating that MDV copied his design👀 @Clint419 has a long record of demonstrating loyalty to "the culture", avoiding big brand collaborations, rejecting high-level interviews and denouncing supposed gatekeepers within fashion. He prides himself on authenticity and is quick to point out when another brand is biting, as we've seen in the past when he put Boohoo Man on blast 😅 @ReeceWabara on the other hand has always seemed to be more money-driven and indifferent to "the culture". His response to Clint confirmed my assumptions regarding this. He couldn't care less about culture lol, certainly not #UKstreetculture anyway💩 The last slide shows a video Reece posted in January 2018 (months before Clint founded Corteiz). In the video Jay-Z speaks on avoiding what's trendy and pursuing long-term value instead. He makes references to Ralph Lauren and the Mona Lisa as examples of the latter. @BelieveAchieveLDN is actually doing bits 💫 The looks they've dropped over the past few years tell me this brand has all the potential to be recognised as a leading fashion house some day💯 It's the attention to quality and details, artfully balancing comfort with visual appeal that makes me say that. Their range of menswear is always clean and drippy, but it's the womenswear that really makes Believe and Achieve London stand out to me. (They also have a sick children's range btw.) Is it me or is @Skeptagram just elevating continuously? 🤔 First of all, he's not physically aging. His fashion sense is tuned to a key. His music production has peaked in the best way (although he hasn't had the opportunity to executive produce that album for Rihanna yet). 😅 With everything on the creative side going so well, it's not a shock that his debut painting came out to be a masterpiece🎨 Skepta's piece "Mama Goes to Market" was painted in 2020, and recently sold at @Sothebys for £81,900🤑 Prior to it's sale, the piece was tagged by @OlaOluSlawn, @Chito.international and @MrGoldie at a @Givenchy pop-up 🖌 A piece titled "Bobo and Jarrad Go To Church" by Slawn was also at the auction and sold for £27,720. The sale fulfilled a prophecy by Slawn's right hand man @Clint419, who stated in 2021 that Slawn's paintings would triple in value by 2022.
