does anyone ever think about how between revenge of the king BWD goes from being too scared to fight Kirby ("N-no way, Great King, I can't do it!"), to vying to be able to defeat him in a friendly battle in his own damn song ("And now, if I win against that kid / I'll grow mature too ) to being his de facto adventuring buddy who is strong enough to hold his own with/against him. does anyone ever think about how (assuming the apple juice song) takes place before RTDL, how validating it would be to journey alongside Kirby & Dedede. how much it probably meant to him despite how it ended.
how the parallels between Magolor and bwd are so painfully clear. as Magolor, who was looking for a shortcut to world domination ultimately failed and lost everything. while Bandana Waddle Dee worked endlessly hard to be able to stand toe to toe w/ Kirby and Dedede received through that same journey a place among them as a friend and peer. how he sees growing stronger not just as an action for the self, but an activity which should be achieved through friendship and connection ("Together, we polish up our skills / And grow stronger"). instead of someone like magolor, who grew as a mage in isolation and only saw kirby&friends as means to an end for power.
anyway rtdl is about bandana waddle dee
