Since 2005 when Cities was released, I have been a fan of Anberlin.  They have a way of making you feel emotions you didn’t know existed.  This time the emotions were bittersweet.  I had the honor of interviewing Anberlin at Warped Tour earlier this year and when I found out they were calling it quits I was so sad.  But, it has been a great ride and after listening to their last album Lowborn, I know they are going out on top!  I loved hearing all of my favorite songs like Paperthin Hymn,  The Unwinding Cable Car, Impossible and Breaking,  live one last time.  The tears started rolling when Moon from Greek Fire/Story of the Year joined them on stage.  It was definitely a night for the record books.

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder surprised a small group of St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley students with a spontaneous private meeting Wednesday afternoon.

Holder traveled to St. Louis in order to meet with officials and community leaders in relation to the ongoing Michael Brown shooting investigation. Brown was an unarmed teenager shot and killed by police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Mo, Saturday, August 9, which has sparked continuing protest in the area.

The Students, many from the Ferguson area, talked with Holder about topics, such as the unrest after the shooting death of Brown and student’s neighborhood experiences. Dominique McCoy, a communications student, said he came out of the meeting with a different outlook.

“(Holder) said be confident,” McCoy said. “We can make a change in your generation.”

Molyric Welch was also chosen to attend the event with Holder. She said they talked about items, such as what has been happening in the area, how they feel about “policing,” and what “walks of life we come from.”

“I feel like someone as important as Eric Holder is right here in Ferguson, Missouri and right here at our school wondering how we feel – that’s a big thing,” Welch said.
