Shots from our latest live room filming session featuring "Expandis" Lots of psychedelic lighting for this one, was great fun!
Broadoak's Harvey Summers sporting a rather splendid hat!
Believe it! No photoshop here, just a magical ‘spectrum’ lamp! Oh and the awesome X-Files poster in the drum corner of course! With one of our custom built headphone mixers mounted underneath!
What's that Tumblr? UFO day? Well I'll just leave this here, one of our favorite pics from the drum corner at Broadoak Studios!
(via TYWKIWDBI (“Tai-Wiki-Widbee”): Music recorded on xrays)
Before the availability of the tape recorder and during the 1950s, when vinyl was scarce, ingenious Russians began recording banned bootlegged jazz, boogie woogie and rock ‘n’ roll on exposed X-ray film salvaged from hospital waste bins and archives… "They would cut the X-ray into a crude circle with manicure scissors and use a cigarette to burn a hole," says author Anya von Bremzen. "You’d have Elvis on the lungs, Duke Ellington on Aunt Masha’s brain scan — forbidden Western music captured on the interiors of Soviet citizens."

Well this is just awesome!
Currently half way through building patch-bays for the studio, the amount of cable is both frightening and beautiful.
Liam, his drums and some of my favourite mics! — at Broadoak Studios.
Secondary mid-way mono room mic, a delicious RCA 77DX. I have a special trick using this position for making the snare sound huge! — at Broadoak Studios.
I want to believe! Listen to Liam's playing and you too will be a believer!
Cracking shot of the drum wizard, Liam Genockey!
Liam Genockey laying down drums for our new county-blues sample pack. Live room looking awesome as ever! RCA 77DX as a room mic up there and my favourite 44BX over the kit!
Filming a little bit of footage from the session. This time its for a country blues sample pack. Will post a trailer when we're ready.
A pair of vintage 50's valve Sony C37A's as room mics! Overkill? No, they sound awesome!
In the studio today, happy to be in Harvey’s capable hands
Ladies and gentle folk... Do It Now!!! We give you Admiral Sir Cloudesley Shovell! The loudest, most rockular band yet on the latest episode of The Live Room!
Broadoak Studios producer, Harvey Summers has been busy working with game developers RedBedlam, creating all the sounds for their upcoming game “Bedlam” based on the novel of the same name by author Christopher Brookmyre. Its pretty fun coming up with original sound effects, and even recording the foley gets interesting.
Here’s James from Broadoak Studios re-creating the sounds of walking through grass and tall brush, all serious business this!
