La verdad para Nietzsche Sobre verdad y mentira en sentido extramoral (1903) “El intelecto, como medio de conservación, desarrolla sus fuerzas principales fingiendo, puesto que éste es el medio merced al cual sobreviven los individuos débiles”. Este fingir está referido al fingimiento sobre la verdad. Qué es la verdad para Nietzsche, es una metáfora, una ilusión creada por los hombres a la sombra de sus relaciones y convenciones, el problema reside en que este hecho ha sido olvidado. La verdad aparece aquí como una excusa para poder vivir gregariamente, es un tratado de paz, una mera invención. La palabra a su vez contribuye a la mentira de la verdad, aquí de la critica de la verdad se desprende la crítica al lenguaje. La palabra es el resultado sonoro de un impulso nervioso que no encierra algo fuera de si, de la cosa en si, que es inalcanzable, no se desprende el concepto, estos son producto de las experiencias particulares, de esta manera el concepto de hoja gracias al olvido de sus notas distintivas, la metáfora permite entender la hoja pero no hay nada de verdad o universalidad en ello. El conocimiento es antropomórfico por lo que no se descubre, se construye.
